Tuno
I was at my local co-op and noticed a can of Tuno. I thought it was by morningstar farms but the website doesnt list it as a poduct it makes. It was a big can and they had both vegetarian and vegan.
Have any of you ever tried any brand of Tuno? Is it good, fishy? |
not-tuna salad
I have never tried tuno personally, but that's because I have heard more bad things about it than good.
However, if it's tuna salad that you're wanting, this is an awesome recipe! It's way better than real tuna salad ever was. (No fishy taste!) Not-Tuna Salad What you need: 1 can garbonzo beans (chickpeas) 1 cup mayo (not miracle whip) (OR Veganaise to make it vegan) 1-2 cloves garlic (minced) 1 small shallot or 1/4 red onion 1/2 cup celery 1/2 whole dill pickle 1 tsp fresh dill 1 lemon salt & pepper What you do: First, rinse & empty the chickpeas into a medium bowl. Then, add your finely chopped onion, celery, & pickle. Mix the mayo with the garlic & dill, add to the bowl, mash lightly until you get the texture you want. Squeeze 1/2 lemon over the mixture, salt & pepper to taste and let refrigerate until chilled. (At least an hour or so) |
This recipe sounds good. Thanks :D

Sorry, never heard of Tuno, not sure if it is available in Canada.

Tuno is really good. It's weird but somehow it has a fishy smell to it. I made it with miracle whip, pickled relish, a little bit of mustard, chopped onions and salt and pepper. It was really good. :D

Tuno is made under the Worthington brand , which actually is a subsidiary of Kellogg's, who also owns Morningstar Farms.
As the leading brand of vegetarian foods, Worthington® products are low in cholesterol and lower in fat, especially saturated fat, when compared to their meat counterparts. Direct from your pantry or right out of the freezer, these delicious, meatless alternatives are perfect for quick and nutritious meals. I personally love most of the Worthington items - but then, I grew up vegetarian and have eaten them most of my life. LOLKimberly |
Hi! I got Tuno once. And I have to say that it tasted (and smelled) enough like real tuna to put me off it. So I guess that means it's good.
