Vegan Food and Weight Loss!

It's working! I floundered for several weeks in the same weight range and even gained last week due to eating meat, cheese, and eggs. But deciding to take the pledge of 30 days of vegan food has jump started the scale back into the right direction! I lost 3.9 pounds this week and have lost a total of 26 since I started trying to get healthier! I am so excited that I am out of the 240's and back on track!

Thank you vegan food! :carrot: :carrot: :carrot:

I've been vegan for three years, but unfortunately found a book on vegan baking and treats that I can have, and am actually fatter than when I wasn't vegan. XD

Yeah, for me vegan doesn't necessarily correlate with weight loss. No matter what you're eating, it's still calories in vs. calories out. Whole plant foods can be less calorie dense and high in fiber, making fewer calories more nutrient dense and satisfying, which is no doubt a good thing. However there is no shortage of high calorie/nutrient poor vegan food available. I'm vegan for life for other reasons, and I certainly think keeping all that cholesterol, saturated fat, and animal protein out of my body is probably doing it some good. However, I'm living proof that you can get good and fat on vegan food!

I went vegetarian at the beginning of the month, and it hasn't really helped with weight loss yet, but it did KEEP me from gaining weight on a holiday cruise ... the veg options seemed to just be inherently more healthy in that situation. I'm excited to see whether it makes a difference in weight loss, although my skin is already far clearer since I gave up meat (a lovely, if unexpected, side effect).
