The NHL's first vegan!
 

I saw an article in the paper the other day and had to share.
The NHL's Georges Laraque became vegan on June 1. It's quite the big deal--hockey guys are "men's men", and we all know that eschewing meat isn't a manly thing to do! :dizzy: I'm sure he's taking a lot of flak, for going vegan as well as being so frank about it, and about his stance on animal rights. Good for him for standing up for what he believes in. And he's said he's lost weight and feels great. Yay veg!

Interesting... When he played for Pittsburgh a couple of years ago (which is where I live) he was used specifically for his toughness and ability to start and win fights. But the interesting thing was, he always seemed like a really kind and caring soul off the ice and did a lot of nice things to help out the community (and especially kids) when he was here, which certainly made his on-ice persona seem like just a job, and not the real him.
