I bought the California Veggie Pockets thinking they would be a quickie lunch similar to "Hot Pockets" that I could just zap in the microwave. I usually just read ingredients not directions and when I went to have my quickie lunch found out you have to broil them. So much for that idea! LOL

They were OK but I won't buy them again. Taste-wise I prefer putting the veggie burger in an oat/flax pita or wrapping it up in a Boston lettuce leaf.

Dr. Praeger's came under fire a while back for having more fat in them than reported on the box. I'm thinking that when they addressed that issue they also listened to the "suggestions" of vegans who wanted a truly veg product. Earlier this year they released their line of Sensible Foods which are free of saturated and trans fat, cholesterol, genetically modified organisms (GMOs), artificial flavorings, colors and preservatives. All are Kosher and many are vegan.

I learned this from a friend from Africa. Clean and then soak a few cups dried black eyed peas for 3 days. After 3 days, rinse really really well. Put in a food processor with 1-2 onions, salt and pepper. Form into thin patties and pan fry. They are so good that even my carnivore of a daughter prefers them over meat burgers.

I just bought a whole case of boca chik'n patties.

If you don't want fake meat, go with Morningstar Black Bean Burger.

If you can handle fake meat, Morningstar Grillers are DELICIOUS. I could eat them like cookies.

Boca fat meat burgers are NASTY.

The best veggie burger in the world belongs to "Lick's" brand. They are called "Lick's Nature Burgers" INCREDIBLE. I prefer them over a beef burger and I love meat. The only thing is, Lick's is a Canadian restaurant chain, but you can buy their burgers in a box at the grocery store, but I don't know if they sell them in the states or not.... You have to look for them though. Yummy yummy yummy!

I eat the Boca vegan burgers but I won't eat them plain. I sautee some sliced portabella mushrooms, garlic, and spinach in some olive oil and put that on my burger and instead of ketchup or mustard I use sundried tomato and basil flavored hummus! YUMMY!!!

My ALLLLLL time favorite is Amy's California Burger. Vegan cheese and 1/4 (or less) avocado! The avocado takes the place of mayo and is the GOOD fat that your body needs!!! Yum!

What do you do with the avocado? Smash it up or just slice it?

When I use avocado, I just slice it. It gives a creamy taste that is good in place of cheese/mayo or whatever.

I used to love this curry like veggie burger that was basically veggies smushed up together with some indian seasonings...I can't for the life of me remember the name of it or the company, but I did enjoy them.

I really crave the boca burgers sometimes, but sometimes they have an overpowering fake-meat flavor and I can't stand them.

I recently found more a "veggie pattie" than a fake meat burger - the Gardenburger California Burger.

The first few ingredients are brown rice, broccoli, corn, carrots, onions, bell peppers and rolled oats... it is vegan. Not much protein in them. But quite tasty.
