Hi all

Since 2009 started, I've been trying to become a vegan.
Fist I thought it would have been easier switching FIRST "just" to a vegetarian diet, but actually I found myself eating really too much cheese and dairy products. I wasn't feeling very healthy, so I tried to skip this step and switched to a vegan plan.
I felt better and I was even doing better... let's say now I'm 99% vegetarian and 90% vegan... I'm not perfect I know, but I will improve

I'm very interested in the Zone diet (I have few kilos to lose, too) but I find it hard to make it become vegan. I'm sure it would be pretty easy... but I'm searching for a "written plan", I mean, not only guidelines, I want rules and plans and meals!

Do you have any link or book to suggest me?
Please consider that I'm living in Italy, and not only I can't find most of the food/brands/products you usually are talking about... some of them I don't even understand what they ARE! LOL!!

i don't know if it's considered "zone", but the Engine 2 diet is vegan and works beautifully. you can get the book, which has the standard meal plans, recipes, etc., or you can cruise it online at http://engine2academy.com/. they require a sign-up, but it's free, and they don't distribute your address.

I have a copy of The Soy Zone. I bought it because it was on the bargain table and some of the recipes looked good, but it does have a prescribed diet in there if that's what you're looking for. It's not strictly vegan, but would be easy to make so. Don't worry about fancy specialty vegan products, I like some soy yogurt and mock meats and cheeses every now and then, but really the healthiest vegan foods are the ones you can find just about everywhere, i.e. whole grains, fruits, vegetables, beans and legumes, nuts and seeds. If I ate exclusively that stuff my diet would be healthier, but I'm not that disciplined and have a lot of tasty vegan junk food available to me so I just strive for moderation for the time being.
