Today I'm a Vegetarian

I just wanted to say Hi to all you vegetarian/vegan chicks. I've been considering returning to the vegetarian life style after a two year hiatus and have made up my mind that I am starting today. I was a vegetarian for two years but was very lazy about it and became an iron deficient anemic. I have since discovered a love of veggies, beans, and tofu so this time will be different. I look forward to sharing recipes and reading about the experiences of others who don't eat meat. :)

Hey Jackie,
You should join us over on the Veggie Challenge thread! We're a mix of vegans and vegetarians. We share a lot of recipes and other tips. We're a friendly group!

It's pretty quiet now because of the holidays, but I'm guessing it'll pick up after the weekend. Come on over and introduce yourself and tell us what your goals are. We'd love to have you!

I haven't really posted in this forum much myself... but :welcome: to the wonderful veg*n world! For me, the hardest part about becoming vegetarian (and then vegan too) was deciding to do it. Everything else has been deal-able.

If you're keeping an eye on nutrition deficiencies, start tracking your food in FitDay/DailyPlate (if you're not already). It's a good idea to at least check a few days randomly in the beginning, just to make sure you're staying healthy. And that way, if anyone says, "Where are you getting your protein/iron/random nutrients from?!?" You can say, "Actually I'm getting plenty, thanks for asking." :carrot:

Welcome! I'm a pretty new vegetarian too, since September 4th. :) I can't imagine doing it without being in love with whole grains, beans and fruits & veggies.

Welcome! I've been vegetarian (mostly vegan) for over a year and I love it.

It was pretty sad, in my previous life as a vegetarian I ate a lot of french fries and cinnamon bagels with regular peanut butter and of course oreos and twizzlers.

Thanks for the welcome everyone.

NakedMango: I do track everything on daily plate, you're right its essential to know where my macros are coming from and that I'm getting enough. So far its going really great.

Funny about french fries is I never cared for them much before but for the past couple months, I've fallen in love with french fries. I blame my husband partially because he never cared for french fries but he started eating them occasionally. I don't eat them often but I did sneak them in a couple times this past month when I would've never had them before.

I never liked coffee until I started dating this one guy when I was 23 or so. He stopped for coffee all. the. time. And I started drinking it just because we were already stopping, so I might as well join in. That, dear 3FCers, was the beginning of the end. :dizzy:
