Default Trader Joes

We just got one of these here and was hoping to get some good vegetarian ideas on cool finds there before I went... Any ideas? I know several of you probably have them in your area...

I haven't tried it but they have soyrizo there. Since I've only ever had chorizo with eggs, I was a bit hesitant to buy but then I didn't even think about soyrizo with tofu

Tempeh if you don't have another good source for it.

Raw Almond butter is fairly cheap there.

Ezekiel bread is fairly cheap there.

I have one next to work but I don't go very often so I don't have too many ideas.

I LOVE Trader Joe's eggplant hummus. It is only 35 calories for 2 tablespoons. I put it on the mini pitas they sell for a GREAT nearly 100 calorie snack. Sometimes I sprinkle lemon juice and fresh parsley on top.

Trader Joes also sells a killer frozen french onion soup
I also buy a jar of smoky peach salsa to put on wheat thins or chips.

They really have all sorts of amazing things, especially in individual portions, for vegetarians and meat eaters alike. I can spend hours in that store.

Happy Shopping!

I like their soy cheese--and the price is good. The soy chorizo is excellent as is their hummus. Their meat replacements are cheaper than other places I've shopped. If you need time-saving meals, they have vegan meals in a box (kung pao noodles, etc.) that contain two servings (my DH learned that the hard way!). You can add a little tofu or some other protein source plus veggies for an easy meal.

They also have a great red pepper sauce that I like with beans plus yummy soy chips for snacks. My DH loves their tapenade.

I had it a couple weeks ago and it's delicious.

I saute'd peppers and onions and then added the soyrizo. Mixed it up a bit and then served it over brown rice. So good!

They also just came out with a vegan brown rice krispie treat that's only 100 calories per bar and the chick'n nuggets are pretty tasty.

Things I love at Trader Joe's
-- chocolate yogurt (dont remember the name) - 130 calories; it is my favorite morning snack right now
-- low fat mediterranian yogurt dip
-- whole wheat mini bagels
-- multi-grain frozen waffles (I know it is not that good a choice but it sometimes hits the spot!)
-- whole wheat tortillas (my son will only eat this brand of tortiallas; eats it almost every day!)
-- Vegetarian black bean burritos -- favorite for lunch.

TheHeather - I know what you mean about Tx. My husband is from Dallas and when we go see family there 2 times a year it is hard to find vegetarian stores or accommodating restaurants. The "vegetarian" food store listed in his suburb is Brookshire's! LOL

I wish we had a Trader Joe's in West Michigan. There are a few on the other side of the state, by Detroit. It would be nice if they had an online store even, but nope.

Yeah I'm from the Dallas area. The only known restaurant without going into downtown is Spiral Diner. The rest, well...I eat mostly whole because there aren't very many accomodating stores.

It's okay though

Random aside, I found Soyrizo at Walmart today and can't wait to try it out.
