Help me FIX my vegetarian Spaghetti!!
I'm new at the cooking thing! lol
Okay so I made spaghetti: whole wheat spiral noodles Mushroom Spaghetti Sauce (Yes, store bought) MSF Meat Crumbles (fake hambuger meat) cut up fresh garlic onions also Garlic salt Oregano Pepper And it's so bland... what can I do?? Help! |
Fresh basil (dried would work also but I really prefer fresh basil)
Oregano Thyme Red Pepper Flakes I sometimes grate carrots and add to the sauce Green peppers Broccoli I also normally use store bought but doctor the **** out of it! |
It sounds like you need to add more dried herbs and let it simmer for awhile.
|
Saute up some onions to add to the sauce, and ditto on the add more herbs!
|
OK I added oregano and basil :) Hopefully it helps!! :) THANKS!
Then I put some on foil in a pan and baked it to see if it helped (after the spaghetti was fully cooked) and it tastes pretty good! |
Sometimes a little bit of sweetener of choice is just the thing too. :)
|
I try to find a good flavorful store bought sauce like sweet pepper or black and green olive sauce. Sometimes I add a bit of crushed red pepper to it or some minced garlic
|
I'll make sure I try your ideas next time =]
|
I made a tasty tomato sauce last week, I'll try to post a little bit later, Right now I have to hit the shower or be late for work. Might already be too late!

Medium low heat - cover and cook 5-7 minutes: 1 1/2-2T olive oil, 1/2c onion (chopped), 4 lg cloves garlic (minced), 1/2t sea salt, freshly ground black pepper to taste (avoid burning the garlic).
Uncover, add 1/3c red or white wine [I used white], increase heat to medium high, boil for 1 minute. Add 1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes, 1/2t dried oregano, 1/2t dried marjoram, 1t dried basil, 1/2-1t agave nectar (optional). Reduce heat to medium low, cover, and simmer for 15 minutes. Uncover and cook another 5-7 minutes to thicken. This is from Eat, Drink and Be Vegan, by Dreena Burton. Tasty. |
Another idea, I love spaghetti squash. And this is the time of year to try it! I start with an organic marinara sauce and add garlic and whatever else I think it needs. Cilantro, by the way, adds an interseting and distinct flavor.

Hmm... you ladies are so helpful :)
