Has anyone tried coconut milk yogurt?

  • I'm not sure where I heard about it (here?), but I found some at a Whole Foods store after looking on the company's website. Yum! It's dessert quality. I made a parfait of yogurt, hemp granola and berries. Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately), the Whole Foods store is 1.5 hours away so I can only go there when I'm in the city for some other reason. It's pretty expensive (I paid $1.79 for an 8-ounce container) so I think of it as an occasional treat item.
  • Thanks for the tip, Sheila! I haven't tried it, but I will! My son is on a gluten free, casein free diet, so I'm going to check to see if this is an option for him, because the little guy misses yogurt. I have given him some coconut milk based ice cream and he really liked it.
  • I've wanted to try it but forget to look when I go to WF. Maybe I can swing by tomorrow.

I have tried coconut milk ice cream and it is heavenly.

I've had the ice cream too (cookie dough flavored) and it's SO GOOD. I haven't seen the yogurt for sale yet, but I want to try it.
  • I love coconut ice cream! I love coconut anything. The green grocer here had a good non-dairy ice cream that was excellent. I not only want to eat it, but I love smelling it (maybe that is why I love Body Shop's Coconut Body Butter).

Very interesting! I'm cutting back on dairy, and my Greek yogurt has not been given up yet . Is it really 8 ounces? The Turtle Mountain (is that the only brand doing it) is 170g per carton/serving, whereas my yogurt has 227g per cup. So 170 is 75% of 227, making me wonder if they're 6 ounce cartons. But maybe it's just because the Greek yogurt is denser.
