I think it would have had more credibility if they'd made an attempt to prepare them for it, before they started. Got them at least a bit fitter and given them an eating plan.

There's a thread on this on the TV forum of 'chav scum' which has been making me laugh.

I don't watch programs like this. Its low budget "entertainment" that does nothing but belittle and humiliate the participants. It astounds me that they can actually get people to participate in this sort of crap.

Obesity is a serious health issue. Not 30 minutes of cheap air time.

Hmmmm - I have a problem with sweeping statements like that. If you didn't watch it then how can you judge it? I thought this programme actually empowered and inspired most of the participants - even the ones that didn't finish the journey.

I agree that obesity IS a serious health issue and this programme really did address the health risks of being super morbidly obese in a very easy to understand way.

While some of the participants might have been less than inspiring, in hindsight I felt that the programme actually taught the viewers quite a lot about being fat: I was quite shocked at the awful discrimination shown against the super morbidly obese people by total strangers but on the positive side it showed that, with the proper motivation and education, even super morbidly obese people are still capable of doing something extraordinary like walking from one end of the country to the other while losing a lot of weight. I liked the way it graphically illustrated that exercise alone is not enough to lose weight - but that changing the way we eat is equally (or possibly more) important, too.

I watched it and thought the "diet" that Matt guy had them on was a bit too restrictive for them... 10 miles on a philly bun and an apple at lunch? I'd have fallen over with hunger, no wonder they were moaning!!!!

I agree the whiny people did annoy me, and that lass who got caught on her way out clubbing!

I think the guy with the glasses had his head on right, I thought the bit about him saying that the general public thinks fat people are lazy and eat lots (I think it was in regards to them filming him at breakfast...) was pretty well thought out.

I'm really dissapointed Vince didn't finish - I was shouting at him through the TV, couldn't he hear me? :dizzy:

Oh and I'M BACK! ;)
