Morning all. A real nasty day here rain, sleet, ice and snow. The sort of day you want to cook a big pot of stew and soup. It's the usual storm stuff everyone out buying food like crazy. I'm supposed to go to a luncheon tomorrow don't think I'll be going as we've to get ice and snow overnight. Hate driving in that weather.

I don't have a Mcd's porn star ;) Hate to say this but I do enjoy a big n tasty. Haven't had one in ages.

Did some more christmas shopping yesterday I'm quite well organised this year.

Ooh Clydegirl - you have our last week's weather (you are so last week!!!) - well except we did not have snow. We had rain, hail, lightning etc though.

I did notice the MCD advert and was going to say something but I am easily distracted and forgot about it. Not bothered though (am I bovvered??) cos don't eat the filth. Seeing the national Geographic ad about the Hyaena queen almost makes me wish I had Sky TV!

Sarah Ann 11-30-2006 10:01 AM

I think that Sky advert worked the wrong way with me - I just changed our package to a cheaper one. Woops!

CG - I wouldn't mind some of your weather. The weather here is a bit strange at the moment. The courier collecting my eBay stuff just turned up in shorts! It isn't THAT blummin warm but apparently he was boiling yesterday so he took no chances today. Idiot.

Yuck! DH just rang to say he's going to be late home - apparently they opened a furniture container from India and its full of lizards - it got so warm in transit that they've bred and now he's got to arrange for decontamination or something. Gross!

peacock 2 11-30-2006 10:16 AM

Good lord Sarah Ann - haven't we been contaminated enough with whatever - from Russia -without lizards as well? They are obviously ok if they are breeding , I guess but goodness knows what else is being brought over. Does DH work in customs then? (being nosey)

Sarah Ann 11-30-2006 11:35 AM

No, he works for a distribution company at a regional distribution centre - they mainly handle imported furniture, carpets, that kind of thing.

Ah! Curiosity sated.

It was 70 degrees yesterday and freezing today, very strange.

Chris is this heading up to you?

 Just wait a while before buying any rugs from Ikea.

I'm very proud of myself today, not only did I avoid an afternoon trip to the vending machine (an increasingly bad habit recently), but I tried a new veg this evening! After successfully downing a bit of brocolli on Sunday I decided it was time to try cauliflower properly. I had a bit in May and didn't mind it, but because I've never cooked it before was a bit hesitant about trying some because I didn't know what to do. But I found a nice looking recipe and decided to try it. After a bit of grappling at the start it was surprisingly easy, and the meal turned out really nice. Plus with all the leftovers I'll have to eat it at least 5 more times ;)

Now I'm going to settle down on the sofa with the new RW. Happy days :)

 @ lizards breeding... Poor Mr. Sarah having to deal with that.

It's been very odd here today, nearly 70 degrees but with a lot of cloud cover, when I walked though, I put my light jacket on, and wished I hadn't, I was sweating buckets by the time I got home and poor Pen and Lew must have thought it was summer again...they've both crashed out on the floor and snored very loudly all afternoon.

The cold nasties are heading this way, thanks for sending them CG ;) We're supposed to have a cold weekend and maybe snow on Monday. It must be the ozone with all this odd weather about. Quote from Clyde Girl 'Hate to say this but I do enjoy a big n tasty. Haven't had one in ages.' After talking about Sarah's porn star, that does sound ever so rude you know

I've got a parents evening tonight, I don't want to go...I hate the bloody things, but Hannah is making me, and there was one two weeks ago and the day after, her teachers asked where I was, and she told them I wouldn't come as it was my telly night! LIttle bugger...mind you, she spoke the truth... I love Thursday night telly...now I have to face the music by going tonight.

Helen, I love cauliflower, eat it all the time. Did you make cauliflower cheese? Just be careful of the wind...it'll happen.

Ok, time to go and think about dinner, low fat hot dogs tonight, can you tell Dave is away? I don't cook big meals when he's not here...to cook for me :)

Clydegirl 11-30-2006 07:27 PM

Chris my thoughts exactly about the porn star and the big'n tasty

It is horrible here freezing rain now, ice everywhere and the snow has still to come.

I saw a good recipe for cauliflower this week. Let me find it.

Clydegirl 11-30-2006 07:39 PM

Helen I put up a recipe for cauliflower mash . It satisfies your cravings for mashed potatoes, apparently.

redsoxgirl 11-30-2006 09:17 PM

I think we're getting that rainy, cold weather tomorrow, tonight I went running and I was soooo hot. It was weird I wore a long sleeve t-shirt and I was dying, all the while running through neighborhoods covered in Christmas deocrations. Very strange.

Chris hilarious that she said you were watching TV, I guess you really do have to go. As a teacher I don't like them either.

I love that lizard story.

I want to try that cauliflower mash...I LOVE CAULIFLOWER.

Actually, just a simple PM works quite nicely. :p Seriously though, if anybody is ever offended by an ad, just give us a heads up and we'll be happy to take a look at it. Suzanne regularly filters ads, but there are several hundred in the list, and it isn't always clear what the ad is about. If a PM isn't convenient for you, you can also post at the bottom of the forum under 'Announcements and Forum Help' as that is usually read frequently by mods and admins.

It was a cauliflower, date and tomato tagine, I managed to avoid the temptation to make it edible by smothering it in cheese ;)

Intervals on the treadmill this morning for half an hour. I'm definitely starting to get faster again, although I'm worn out now - I actually pushed myself hard for a change on the last couple of intervals rather than giving up earlier than I intended.

I'm off to Manchester this weekend, going tomorrow and staying in a hotel tomorrow night and meeting up with uni friends. We went to uni there which is why we meet up there, but none of us actually live there any more. It will be nice to see them again, I'll just have to try not to drink too much.
