I ran!!! I actually felt better than I have done all week while I was out, and managed 6 miles or so fairly comfortably. There's nothing like the prospect of a holiday to cheer me up though.

I've also now got my running club vest, which may well get a ceremonial first outing on Sunday. I've signed up as unaffiliated, but I'm getting a lift with club people so I may as well join in with the vest wearing. I'll also try to take a photo of it soon as proof I'm irredemiably a scary running club person...

Sarah Ann - definately go for the luxury things. The little things you 'don't' need. SOd practical!

One of my friends was furious when her hubby bought her a foot pump and torch for her car! She loves luxury and girly things and was quite annoyed that he did not see her like that. I think he was patting himself on the back that "it is the thought that counts" and was thinking of her safety etc etc when all she really wanted was probably some little trinket! He still does nto get it exactly right but I think now she gives him a list!!

Hello!!!!

Just a couple of days to wedding... YAY! I'm getting excited now! I was up 20 minutes before the alarm and doing stuff!

I'm going kickboxing tonight since everything is done, and I have the energy and I have a score to settle with a couple of people, so they'd better be afraid!

Oh noooo - its not presents for me thats causing the upset - he wouldn't buy me that kind of thing (ever since the husband of a friend of mine gave her a dishwasher for Christmas and I told DH I thought that giving kind of present should be sufficient grounds for divorce). Yesterday's shopping was supposed to be for friends, family, neighbours, etc.

What started it was trying to decide what to get for his middle daughter. She's a young mum with two littlies and she's had a very, very bad time during this last year. When she came up to visit a while back she looked at all my smellie stuff in the bathroom and commented that she'd love to have that kind of thing but money is too short for luxuries - so I thought we'd get her some of that kind of thing for Chrimbo with maybe a pretty bracelet or posh chocies or something - definitely stuff she doesn't need and certainly wouldn't buy for herself - but DH had asked his oldest daughter what the middle one 'needs' - and apparently she 'needs' a dressing gown.

Then DH produced this shopping list he'd written up and on it was the most boring stuff you can imagine - power tool for his son, slow cooker for his younger daughter - that kind of thing - all suggested by the older daughter on a what does so-and-so 'need' basis! Thank goodness I'd already arranged for his Mum's Christmas present otherwise she'd have ended up with a replacement kettle and toaster!

Its my fault, really, in previous years I've just ordered everything on-line and its been fine. I'm actually wondering whether it would be best to just send down a whole bunch of Argos vouchers and let them get what they want. (I really hate vouchers!)

Can you get her a posh Per Una dressing gown and a load of nice smellies? Like a pamper set?

I like the pics By the way, due to my inability to stay awake in front of the computer for more than about 10 minutes at a time, and the faff of uploading the pics to my yahoo mail, I'm putting a CD in the post to you this lunchtime.

I've just booked my flights

I normally book holidays ages in advance, so it's quite strange realising that I'll be leaving in 9 days time! I need to find my summer clothes!!! And have a disciplined 9 days if I'm intending to wear my bikini while I'm out there...

Sarah... I reckon we all got confused with your pressie buying. I still think you should go for the luxury items for the middle daughter, if she's had a really rough year, she'd really love that, as she won't do it herself, maybe one of her siblings could buy her the dressing gown she NEEDS?

Helen, you look great, I'm sure you'll look fantastic in your bikini in the sun. Are you going to your parents? Good for you booking your hols... I'm sure you'll have a fab time.

Frus-Jen: Enjoy your day, I'll be thinking about you. What time is the wedding? I hope you and Dom will be as happy as me and mine, you have a great future to look forward to, your dress is gorgeous, as are you. Looking forward to the pictures when you come back and talk to us as a happy newlywed woman.

No - according to Eldest Daughter it has to be an exact replacement for the revolting blue towelling bathrobe style dressing gown she already has. How boring.

I was going to get her the same stuff of mine that she lusted after (Thierry Mugler). The other problem is that the whole lot of them are really argumentative so to avoid any 'friction' we make a point of spending exactly the same on all four kids, their partners and their children (including ste-children) AND the nieces and nephews. The last time we bought one of them a present without spending the exact same amount on all the others the whole bunch of them didn't talk to us for five years! (Their mother's idea, no doubt. She is a complete )

Just wondering... how did everyone come to a decision about what their goal/target weight should be?

And... did anyone change their chosen goal/target weight?

It was yummy

I kind of changed mine, I just set it at 100lb lost originally because that was (a) a nice round number to get to (b) a nice round number to lose and (c) a healthy weight. Then I decided to just see where my body settled, I don't have a goal in mind as such at the moment, I'd like to possibly be a tiny bit smaller, but I'm happy with a goal range of "somewhere around 150".

Frus, have a FAB wedding, honeymoon etc. We want lots of pictures!!!
