New to this!!

Hi...
My name is Kim and I`m here to get support and encouragement to lose weight before I cycle across china in September.
At the moment if i could lose a stone and a half before I go then that would be great. You`d think that cycling 3 hours at a time several times a week the weight would drop off but it don`t budge!!!
I was always under weight as a teenager and never gave a second thought about what I ate but boy has it changed!
I follow the weight watchers no point diet and have managed to go from 13 stone at xmas to 14 stone 7 in 6 months!!?? I do take a cocktail of pills for arthritis but that shouldn`t make that much difference.
I`m hoping to weigh in and report every Thursday and need lots of help to make it.
Thanks in advance for anyone willing to help and support me.
Kim

Hi Kim - and Welcome :welcome: to 3 Fat Chicks!

I've not done the WW diet but I'm *fairly* sure you shouldn't gain 1.5 stone on it!!!!! ;) Exercise does put on muscle while reducing fat - but either you have got absolutely MASSIVE muscles or something has got a bit wrong. Have you spoken to your doctor about it?

Its not a cure-all but it might help if you get tested for an under-active thyroid.

Your China adventure sounds amazing - you are a very brave lady - are you doing it alone or with friends?

Come and join in on some of the other threads. :) We've got a 'natter' thread going called July Summer Chat (or something like that)

Thankyou for the replies so far ladies.
China should be a great thing to do. I`m going with 17 other people..none of who I know and will only meet them when I get to Heathrow. Another thing is I`ve never flown before and have only ventured as far as Paris so it`ll be doubly a big thing.
About the weight gain..well they said it was caused by the fact that I cary alot of fluid due to medication and that I was allergic to wheat and that the points diet of weight watchers meant I was eating too much...pity they didn`t tell me before i`d gained that much....mind you sometimes I feel that even if I sniff chocolate I put weight on.
At the moment I can cycle a good 10 miles on road and a couple of hours on an excercise bike..add that to twice weekly swimming I should be thin as a rake..mind you saying that I have noticed that my legs are getting bigger.
It`s going to be 417km in China so I`ve a bit more practise to do yet.
I`ll go now and have a browse in the other threads...keeps me away from food!!!
Bye for now Kim

Woow! You will have fun in China!

Just one warning - at night they (Chinese cyclists)don't appear to have lights on their cycles - or breaks. Listen well and you may hear some voices in the distance getting closer and then suddenly at least 20 cyclists will cycle past!!! My aunt and I were about to cross a road. It wasn't that late but of course they did not have much in the way of lighting and it was only cos my ears pricked up at a sound int he distance - I stopped my aunt from being mowed down by such a group!!

Thanks for the warning!!!!
Never having been a traveller I have no idea what the rest of the world is like so all advice is good advice!
Maybe a miners helmet would be a good idea..one with a light on!
