Please help me to get started
Hello.... I have been on numerous diets but can't seem to get going on them. I am looking for help, motivation and support. Can anyone help. ???

Heya
I find calorie counting is the best diet as it has the most choice. I use www.fitday.com to log what I eat, is a bit American but pretty decent. The other thing that works for me is small attainable goals. Really small like 3lbs or something. The maintainers forum on here is fab motivation and there are loads of cool groups for support. UK Fat Chicks is great and I post on Chicks up for a Challenge. Good luck Dilleight |
Hi there
I have not tried lots of systems, but found Weight Watchers very good, as it's not a diet as such, but a good way of finding out what to eat and how much, in a healthy way. You don't have to give anything up, just be aware of how much you can treat yourself with those things you really can't do without. It also gives you a good idea of how exercise can help, and a way of measuring the amount you do :soap:. I'm sure there's plenty of others out there waiting to tell you about their favourite methods too :write: . This message board is really good for mutual support, as once you have subscribed to a thread, you will be emailed every time anyone else posts a reply. So that's a good start already :cheer:. Let us know how you're getting on and you'll get lots of encouragement :coach: Good Luck :goodluck: :balloons: |
Hey i am thinking about the G.I diet has anyone tried it??
|
There are so many plans out there and I think most of them work as long as they are something you can stick to. I've got on well with Slimming World but then I've never tried any of the other formulated plans so I can't compare.
If you feel very hungry dieting then you'd be better sticking to something that lets you have as much as you like of fruit and veg so you can always feel full. If you put your mind to it you can do it, try to imagine how you will feel when you get to your goal weight. Good luck! Bx. |
I'm a big fan of calorie counting, however my eating habits have gone a bit whack recently (yesterday I had a mars bar for lunch.... and stayed within calories!). But I guess just trying to eat healthily for a start, not actively cutting down, because then you get to enjoy healthy food, and re-establish a good relationship with food without actively seeing it as the enemy.
Maybe try substituting chocolate bars for fruit, but have something like a fudge bar or a milky way so you don't feel deprived. Try eating more salad with your meals, having low calorie snacks like carrot sticks or apples or raisins. I found I eat a lot less bread now I eat healthier, I think I used to have bread and butter with every meal, and chips at least every day if not more often!! Now I tend to sudstitute 2 slices of toast for an english muffin, the muffin is 50 cals less than 2 slices, but you still get 2 bits of toasty bready stuff to munch on! Ok I've rabitted on enough, hope this gives you something to go on! As you can tell, we're all probably diet "enthusiasts" by now!! Good luck, and if you have any queries, just keep posting! |
