Inspiration Needed

Hi Chicks
I'm having a bad week, and thought others might be having the same problem (that's why we're here  ).How about posting the reasons that keep you going through the bad times :stress: , or what you do (or eat) when you're feeling empty :eating2: ? Personally, I'm sick of vegetable soup and am not fond of fruit.
Not feeling very hopeful about weigh-in this week - help :yikes: !!!!

taichilady 10-31-2004 03:50 PM

Aargh! What's happened to the smilies? Oh, halloween, ha ha

tootoot 11-01-2004 01:12 AM

i wouldnt say i was having a bad week....... but i was working long days at the weekend and i have not any where near enough(cup a soup and a sandwich both days after work) and i know not eating enough is as bad as eating too much, when i do have a horrible food week its usually when things arent right i seem to say to myself............ och so what if i have crisps who cares , knowiing really that i do but the problems or stress at the time seems more important than watching what i eat
got to get ready for work .....again(overtime today) woman at work only 48 had a suspected heart attack!!!!!!! talk about a wake up call

2frustrated 11-01-2004 04:23 AM

Tai chi lady, I fill up on rice cakes (oh so boring) and fruit. Bingeing on rice cakes is no where near as bad as bingeing on crisps and things!!

I tend to go shopping to keep me motivated, yesterday I couldn't fit into jeans that were a size bigger than the ones I was wearing  don't ask me!!

Then I come home and think about how good I should be too look all sexy in some nice jeans!! And I look at the party dresses too and think, oooh I'd look so good in that when I'm skinny!!

taichilady 11-02-2004 04:04 AM

Rice cakes

Thanks 2f, i had forgotten the joys of Snack a Jacks. Unfortunately, I rarely see any clothes I actually LIKE in the shops, and my absolutely alltime fave shop closed down recently :( . I'm not yet at the stage when trying things on is a pleasant surprise either :o . Hey, appropriate icon, just how I feel in the changing room! Mind you, I really like all the plummy dark maroony purply colours that are in at the mo. It's frustrating to see your fave colour in a really vile style or nasty feeling fabric
Might make it to weigh in today, not hopeful
Right, a stop at the shops to get those rice cakes, and memo to stop wallowing in self pity :D

cat90 11-02-2004 05:53 PM

Have'nt had a rice cake in god knows how long  are they one step up from the kelloggs cornflake BOX? :joker:  I don't suppose they are so bad really :p :dunno: I used to eat the 'caramel' ones occasionally...i've got a stockpile of jello fat free puddings and diet jelly and coolwhip is'nt bad for a munchie attack either ;)

taichilady 11-02-2004 06:30 PM

Rice cakes etc

Thanks Cat, had also forgotten sugar free jelly, shall go and boil the kettle now ;) . Would you beleive I even have a choice of flavours? 'Thai Bites' used to come in seaweed flavour which were great, you could believe you were eating Japanese rice crackers, but they don't seem to make them anymore :( .

Superwitch 11-03-2004 11:51 AM

Japanese Rice Crackers

You can buy Japanese Rice Crackers in Julian Graves.

taichilady 11-04-2004 03:50 AM

Hey - am I the first one up today? Beat you all  ! I see the clown smilie has gone. Ta superwitch, I love Rice crackers but daren't point them, especially the wonderful peanut ones :eating2:. Anyone?
Having a bonfire party tomorrow, hope we're not overrun by teenagers 'Mum, can a couple of friends sleep over?' - cue extra bodies in morning, six in total, not counting those that came and went! not to mention them all being bright eyed and bushy tailed at 5 am :tired: At least we'll be better prepared this time :crossed:

dilleight 11-04-2004 05:01 AM

Do you reckon snack a jacks are more filling than cereal bars?

taichilady 11-04-2004 07:03 AM

Cereal bars

I never touch cereal bars, apart from WW choccy ones, oh and Asda's good for you range :T . The cereal is fine, but they have to stick it together with something, and it's usually sugar... . I don't know about filling, but SAJ's last longer, so I feel like I've really had something, cereal bars are gone in a flash. Also, you can never tell how high in points they are unless you carry your tracker around  . I bought some breakfast bars last week, and found I had misread the calories, per 100g instead of per bar. They were a whopping 5.5 points :fr: which is way over what I usually have for brekky (about 3), and certainly wouldn't eat them as a snack at any other time  .

teel 11-04-2004 08:39 AM

:o I have a cereal bar for breakfast as I hate bothering with anything else!! I quite like the fruit'n fibre bars from Sainsburys...at least with the fibre you feel as though you are putting something useful in your body! :T Sometimes I manage to do an instant porridge but it has to be really cold outside before I do it!! :o
Taichilady I am somewhat confused now 'cos although the cereal bars do give the nutrition in 100g, the bars do not weigh that much at all...the ones I have say..
per 100g per bar
cals 383 96
fat 9 2.5
carbs72 18
fibre 4.5 1

Oh and I usually have a box of Shapers mini choc/orange bars and a box of Slimfast bars...I like the chocolate caramel bars....they are only 99cls a bar....Hope this helps!!

taichilady 11-04-2004 09:48 AM

Woops, you're right Teel, have made another mistake :o , it's 1.5 points! ie
per bar - 101 cals,1.2g fat (0.5g saturated), carbs 21, fibre 1.2g. But it wouldn't feel like a proper breakfast, although nowadays I only have one piece of toast or cereal with semi skimmed milk. I spend a great proportion of my early morning in the kitchen anyway, trying to fill my two teenage boys :dizzy: .
Taichilady is a bit of a mouthful, perhaps I'll shorten it to Tai

BritinNJ 11-04-2004 01:37 PM

COR! I'm glad we got those cereal bars sorted, you scared me for a mo there Tai, I eat them quite often as a fill up quick running out the door!
Ours over here I had worked out to be two WW points so have rechecked and I was right.....thank be! :)
Hey, how about you share your real name with us one day then and then we won't have to shorten you down to Tai, which is fine if you prefer it :)
Sheila, how's the weather in lovely SUffolk today? Not cold enough for porridge yet then?
It's beautiful here right now, I've been a busy bee, scrubbed down blinds and windows and Dave is now finishing off by putting some extra carpet leftovers in the closet....... the house is starting to look great again, if only eating properly came as naturally as getting fixtures and fittings sorted, I'd def be a slim jim by now :)

taichilady 11-05-2004 04:09 AM

Tried one of my cereal bars yesterday - far too sweet, though the texture was nice  . Brit - do you use your WW cardboard slidey thing for points, or have you got an electronic gadget? I find using electronics smooths out (ie loses) a half point here and there . Not sure about giving out my real name, I find it confusing enough remembering real names, and if we all started using them, I'd never remember who was toot, Veggie, Brit, etc. :dizzy: . But if it makes you happy, I'm Lesley (the female variety)
A hard weekend coming, party at ours tonight which could stretch into the early hours, lots of nibbles and booze (Chicks -'Oh, you poor thing!'). Mind you, when feeding my broods' friends, I don't feel tempted as it's usually bacon baguettes, and I haven't touched bacon for years, despite being a lapsed vegetarian :smug: .
Spending far too much time online, must get moving :coach:
See ya chicks :sumo: :goodvibes

BritinNJ 11-05-2004 11:22 AM

Hi Lesley,
We can keep calling ya Tai if need be, it is nice to know names though I think, but I'm dead nosy and have the name to prove it :)
I use my slider, I have three, one is always in my handbag and I trot around the grocery store dragging it out and tut-tutting if something I want and think is LF is too many points...people do give me funny loks too, no cue as to why.
Have fun at your party tonight, I love Nove 5th, big bonfires and fireworks and being all wrapped up toasty warm, and especially the food.bakgers, baked potatoes slathered with butter..........mmmmmmmmm

cat90 11-06-2004 10:13 AM

bakgers? :dunno:  what are they? bangers? I hate them :( the noisy variety not the edible ones ;) and I always associate Nov 5th with those horrible bangers :rollpin: they should ban them and only allow beautiful fireworks that fill the sky with colour :cloud9:

cat90 11-06-2004 10:33 AM

oops..forgot what I was really going to say  I found some cup a soups in the kitchen cupboard and they are a tasty warming little snack on cold days :coffee: only about 35 cals too :D I also don't mind Rice Krispie Treats..the chocolaty caramel ones are quite good and the 'new' chocolate one is made with real cadburys chocolate :T a bit high in fat but great for a chocolate attack

taichilady 11-06-2004 06:53 PM

Party

Hi Brit
After a peculiar day, a peculiar party.......First of all, most of the adults invited cried off, including my Mum and Dad 'cos Dad was poorly, they've been to our bonfires ever since they moved up here, over 10 years ago. Then i stood and watched as car after car drew up, disgorging various teenagers, mostly unknown :fr:. Forewarned was forearmed, and after an unplanned gathering last week, I made sure I knew who was who - and who invited them(!), didn't have a drop to drink myself, and made sure both me and hubby (also sober) were a visible presence, checking the various groups. However, by 9.00 we had one drunken casualty, who was very sick over my son's bed (serves him right for inviting so many!) and had to be fetched by his mother. That put a stop to the fireworks, we now have a cupboard full and no stuff left for a bonfire to go with  Otherwise, they were quite well behaved and considerate, and mostly crashed out by 3am. The (live) body count in the morning was considerably higher than last week, and large gatherings are hereby BANNED :rollpin: ! Did I say stress usually makes me comfort eat????? I may not have drunk anything, but consumed more than enough marshmallows, toffees and crumpets :cookie:. A lapse like that usually takes a week or so to overcome. Lots of chocolate and marshmallows today too :kickcan: I think my little turtle will be crawling backwards this week!
PS should I call you Brit? or Britt, or what is your real name? :^:

taichilady 11-06-2004 06:58 PM

Oops, just seen your name in plain sight, Hi Chris  Do you know what the time difference from GMT is where you are? :D

cat90 11-06-2004 07:13 PM

If i'm right its the same as here which is 8 hours ;) its 4.15pm now 12.15 at your end Lesley and I see you're online :mag:

BritinNJ 11-06-2004 07:14 PM

Hi Tai,
The time difference for us right now is 7 hours as you just put your clocks back last week and AZ doesn't.
Your party sounds like fun, you just reminded me, I've not bought crumpets since I've been back here, must go and hunt some out at Trader Joes tomorrow.
Well done on being a good Mother and not haivng a tipple or two or more while keeping an eye on strange teens....
Our house is quite quiet this weekend, nice, I like it. AND...I have a washing line up so am getting washing dry in a nice sunny blustery day!
:):)

cat90 11-06-2004 07:18 PM

ooh..I did'nt know that you did'nt change your clocks Chris  so i've learned something today  its rained here all day..grey and miserable and i've been online since 5am so i'll be coming up to a 12 hour shift soon  :yikes: where does the time go? :nono:

BritinNJ 11-06-2004 11:01 PM

 What on earth have you been doing on line since five am Cathy?
So are we only an hours time difference away from each other then? Even though we're at the opposite end of the county plus a border?

Very interesting!

Well I must go and get that washing in off the line and hang it in the peoples closets, no ironing here, don't believe in it.

taichilady 11-07-2004 03:19 AM

Hi all again
Never mind being a good Mum, concerned householder more like! They all knew each other mostly, and knew who needed keeping in line 'he gets a bit violent after a drink, him' Oh, great!!!! one of them played a trick on our casualty by feeding him vinegar and water and telling him it was beer, which might have played some part in him throwing up. It probably was a case of his parents being too strict with alcohol so he didn't know how much he could safely drink, and went wild. My eldest learned not long ago that it's actually better to stay sober enough to watch all the fun!!!!

BritinNJ 11-07-2004 11:55 AM

 At the horrid tricks played with vinegar and water....I'm lucky, my eldest hasn't reached the drinking age yet, but he has told us he doesn't like beer and when he can drink he'll have to drink 'ladies drinks'.

At the moment, we are dealing with him having just got his driving permit so for the next five months, he'll be driving us everywhere possible for practice until he gets his full license. He's not doing too bad, he's very cautious which I like and my car is an automatic, so he doesn't have to multi-task while I'm driving with him, however Dave's truck is a stick so the multi-tasking is there, and there's been a few kangaroos down the street :)

Now I find out the leagal age to get a permit here is 15 years and seven months, so child number two will be in the driving seat this time next year! :fr:

Am having a lazy day today, may run up to the shops and buy a few things for curtain hanging, as I can't seem to find all my poles that fit the windows, am trying to be creative with nets that are to long for in the bathroom...wish me luck, creativity and design are not one of my strongest points!

cat90 11-07-2004 02:52 PM

:p Poor Lad :( I bet he only took one swig of that

Chris..yep one hour it is..it was none until we changed the clocks  I did'nt realise that you did'nt  so that accounts for my husband not understanding me when I told him a couple of years ago when I travelled across that the time was the same as ours :nono: confusing driving through time changes I can tell you  driving from the east coast to the west coast and having to change your clock on the way is a little  :lol3: so now I know and next spring the time will be the same again ;)
 @ the kangaroo..we've all done it so should'nt laugh really.

Speaking of kids i'm just 'child proofing' our house  its :censored: sickening when you can't go on holiday without wondering what "they'll" do while you're away :( last year beer was (mysteriously) spilled into our hi-fi system by a ghost that to this day has never owned up to it so i'm putting the remaining stuff in our room...if they want to party up here this year they'll have to bloody well sing  oh..and they can buy their own beer too :rollpin:

taichilady 11-07-2004 06:09 PM

Actually, by the time our victim was being given vinegar, he was too drunk to notice! He and his Mum came around today with some flowers to say thanks for looking after him, bless! He confessed that the had a large quantity of whiskey mixed with fizzy pop to start with :p
Not looking forward to turning my poor little diesel car over to son no 1, who will be old enough for a provisional (learners) license in February. If only he'd get a job :dz:, insurance will rocket by £500 to cover him
Otherwise - well off track today, starting to drift, not counting my points and generally vegging out, help!!!!

cat90 11-11-2004 06:03 PM

uh-oh i'm too late to give you a :rollpin: tai  hope you're doing better today :)
