Best value digital scale?
 

Hi, I've been thinking of investing in a digital scale as my little classic ones are very hard to read and I don't think they're completely accurate!

Any ideas of which one would be the best investment (considering that I'm on a pretty low student budget!!) and where I could get them??

After spending months reading online reviews, I recently bought a Salter digital scale from Argos and it's perfectly decent, I'm very happy with it and I would get the same one again if they broke! It works perfectly well and is reliable (when I measure myself repeatedly, the number stays the same!). It measures you to the nearest quarter of a pound. As with all scales, the only problem I've had is making sure you put them on an absolutely flat surface, otherwise you won't get an accurate reading (on any scale, including these!). Make sure to check for even the most subtle lumps and bumps in your floor, and where possible, avoid weighing on carpet and weigh on a really hard surface!

These are the ones I have, and I see they've gone down in price since I bought them (I paid just over £20, now they are £17 - bargain!). The only negative thing I would say about these scales is that when I repeatedly stored them on their side in a very humid room (against the wall in our tiny bathroom), the extra heavy-duty glue that keeps the glass top affixed to the scale at the bottom came loose, and the glass fell off. This was quickly fixed (I just put the glass top back on again, the stickers holding it in place were still extremely sticky!). It really wasn't a problem at all, and was more to do with my mis-handling the scales in the first place!

I've got a £9.99 Eks digital scale from Argos, does the job and it's easy to see the numbers but it does sometimes give different readings so I just go for the one that it gives twice or first.
