New idea
I'm currently on my own little journey which you will see in my blog.
However I'm also going to be a fitness specialist before the year is out. I find gyms rather intimidating myself, with the leery men and lots of flashy perfect women. I had an idea when I'm qualified to maybe target weight watchers groups and other slimming clubs to do out of gym personal training but in small groups. Was hoping to see whether people would like to see more things like this? thankyoooooooooooou :dizzy: |
Ok so Ive just read your blog..........................I was on microgynon and went from 10 12 to 13st!!!! how weird that a similar thing happended....i'm now 8lbs down from that. think i may go talk to my doctor.
thankyou! |
it's ridiculous how they dismiss it scientifically but the evidence is there! i think they definately need to make people more aware and if you feel you're doing everything you can to lose weight and seeing no results its a definate possibility.
This is how crazy it canbe though...I had the coil in for 3 weeks.Had it removed this morning and have already lost 2 pounds!!!!!!! |
I've got bored when I tried gyms in the past so I don't belong to one, and do a lot of walking instead, but I like the idea of an occasional fitness class. I think it's a pity that it's not something that is available at least optionally with all slimming clubs as part of the membership. I know Rosemary Conley classes have an exercise class, but since I hated her plan when I did it from a book, I've never been to a class for that club. I guess it could be worth approaching local meeting leaders and seeing if they wouldn't mind having a leaflet there. My local group leader used to plug a gym, but she worked at the school where it was held.
The only thing I'd say is don't automatically exclude men (I wondered because of your leery comment). I used to go to Pilates with my husband, he was the only guy in class and I know the teacher said that one of her colleagues held women only classes. They were thinking of swapping slots and I wouldn't have gone to the excluding class. Never noticed any men perving over the women in leotards when I went to a slightly more mixed yoga class in the past either (although I fancied one of the men there, LOL). |
Hello every body.

out of gym personal training is very popular around here. Both bootcamp sort of stuff before work time or the other big demographic is new mums - often held in local parks with the prams parked up nearby!! (Better weather for that in Aus though....)

Hi,
I used to do just what you are aiming for, good luck it is great fun! You might get lucky with slimming clubs, but the biggest have their own and are quite particular about how they are run. RC is the weirdest and I never ever got a class with them despite having specialist credentials (degrees and exercise certification) and insurances for extremely obese exercisers. You may also hit lucky with individuals wanting an exercise/life coach. So keep an eye out for more unusual workshops/certificates in nutrition. I also got certified in aquarobics so I could get regular classes in gyms and then Boxercise cos it is a great fun way to exercise and you don't need any equipment to enjoy it (that is also why my signature boxes). My best advice is to get out there and get seen.... build up 1 or 2 classes at first and then spread slowly. Try getting on local radio or in local newspapers, they always want local good news stories. Be shameless in your self promotion :D Feel free to PM me if you want to chat in private! |
