Red and Green Days
Hello to anyone out there who knows what I am talking about. On Wednesday I joined Slimmers World ( I don't know if I'm supposed to put the name of the organisation ) in yet another attempt to lose weight before I become a fat old woman as opposed to a fat middleaged woman. Anyone who is doing or has done it will know what I mean with red and green days. Tell me does it get easier to understand and have you any recipes you can reccomend (sp). I know it works because my friend's niece has lost 6.5 stones and my colleague at work who has spent the last few months persuading me to go has lost a stone.

LONG TIME NO HEAR! :) We all know what you are on about Mave but I've never done it so I'll leave the advice to others!

Hi Cherry.
I've been doing slimming world for 6 weeks now, and I'm sure you'll get the hang of all the green/red day stuff quite quickly. Most people seem to have it all sorted out within a week or two. I only do green days though myself, as I'm a vegetarian. As for recipes, there are quite a few places you can look. The slimming world website - http://www.slimming-world.co.uk - has lots of useful info on it, including recipes, and a question and answer section if you're confused about something. And if you go here - http://www.slimming-world.co.uk/sins/index.htm - you can check the sin values of products online. There's an msn group dedicated to Slimming World, you'll find quite a few recipes there too. http://groups.msn.com/SlimmingWorld/messageboard.msnw This page has 143 recipes that people following the diet have come up with: http://www.droylsden.net/docs/143_Recipes.htm Last but not least, you can buy the magazine in class for £1.40, which contains recipes, success stories etc. It only comes out every 2 months though. And there are recipe books available to browse/buy in class. Good luck with it all! MiniGem. :D |
Hello there Veggie nice to hear from you, how are you. Gem thanks very much for your input I will check those sites out

Second weigh in tonight, only 1 pound this week, a bit disappointing as I have been so good my halo is choking me but its better than a gain I suppose

hello cherry coke.
i have been on sw for 2 weeks now and after losing 2 stone 6 just by calorie counting i got stuck for 2 months at the same weight! the last 2 weeks i can proudly say ive actually started losing again! its only 3 lb but at least im moving down those scales again! so it does work. i dont actually go to the classes but bought the book that covers absolutely everything! and have just followed that word by word. i found it difficult at first but you soon find out what foods you like on each day and i found them to be my 'base foods' with something different every now and then. sw is highly recomended cos you never have to go hungry! which is always a bonus! my aunty lost 4.7 stone in no time at all cos all of the ss foods. so make sure you get plenty of them down you for each day. congrats on the weight loss, after all, like every1 told me last week 1lb is 1lb lighter! keep at it, and it does get easier. may i ask where in the uk you arefrom? keep talking. spk to you soon emma |
Hi Emma
Thanks for your input. Even though I was disappointed by Wednesdays loss I haven't let it put me off. I did a green day today, though I usually stick to red. I have discovered a cottage cheese that I actually like. It is Tesco's own brand and has chunky vegetables, it is really tasty. My group leader phoned me tonight to make sure I hadn't fallen by the wayside. I have also tried to increase my water consumption over the last 2 days. I live in Derbyshire which I think is a beautiful county but I'm biased as I was born here. I bet you miss Wales. we spent 2 weeks just outside Aberystwyth in August as my daughter is working there at the moment. We were lucky and had some gorgeous weather. I love Wales but have never been any further south than Tenby. |
hi mavis.
i do miss wales, not exactly wales but my family that lives there! havnt got anyhere and its hard wen youve 2 kids and no1 to take them off your hands once in a while. nevermind tho. wots it like at tenby, ive honestly neva been there! did you say cottage cheese. ugghhh! its so sour n horrible, but i will have a go at the tescos one. thanx for posting back, hope to spk to ya soon emma |
It's very sad but I love cottage cheese, the only ones I don't like are the fruity ones but having said that i do like the pineapple :D
I got up this morning and thought ooh i know i will start to make no point soup as the weather is getting cooler, by the time i got back from ww and the supermarket (not forgetting my 8am swim!!) the sun is out and it is roasting!!!!! I am not complaining though:D |
hi there tupperwarequeen.
how r u? well, wot a weight loss you have! congrats to you, you must feel great!! not far to go now, aye! wots your secret? being 5'11 you cant be that big now! is 11-13 your ideal weight? im 5'9 and my ideal weight is 11 stone cos im also big built! i now weigh in at 12-11. dont know bout you but i need a great huge kick up the bum from time to time to get moving, maybe we can help each other along the way!! wots so sad about liking cottage cheese?! wish i liked it cos alot of recipes n that include cottage cheese, it would make life **** of alot easier! maybe i should just eat it and put up with it, ill soon get used to it i spose, aye. wot part of london u from? weather nice here too. its better weather than we had in the summer. lets just hope it lasts for a little longer. niuce to hear from you welshbird |
Ayup Welshbird!!
i am living in Enfield, North London, but am a Yorkshire lass, married a londoner and ended up down here. When i lost weight befor i got to 10-7 I was really slim then, and kept it off for years but am just aiming for 11-13 cos it is such a long time since i was slim and I am a bit older now. I don't look any further than the next 1/2 stone , it has been such a large(!) task, i have plateaued throughout the summer but have started working full time and all the walking to and from work has helped. I don't seem to have much time for myself these days but am working hard to try and manage my time better, any tips anybody!! Hope you all have a great weekend!! |
It's a lovely Saturday morning in Derbyshire too and like you TQ I've just come back from the Supermarket where I bought 2 large packs of cottage cheese with vegetables.!!!!
I wish I was taller, I can't even make 5ft so I feel as wide as I am tall and daren't tell you how much I weigh. My group leader was telling me that a lady phoned her who was too ashamed to come to meetings and has asked if she will visit her at home to weigh her. Thats sad isn't it. For purely selfish reasons I wish she would come then I wouldn't be the biggest there!!! |
