is there such a thing as taking things a little too seriously?

since joining this web site ive encountered many different people with many different opinions and guidance tips...

one question i have is do we sometimes need to lighten up a little?surely we are all on the same mission, some closer than others?

ive posted replies to some posts and been shot down quite rudely by some very 'hard core' ladies who see only black and white?

without sounding sexist i work in an all female environment and notice the same sometimes lack of sense of humour there too?(not saying this applies to everyone mind)maybe im more bloke than i thought?

just wondered what everyone views were? maybe its me that takes it too seriously...

I try to curb my sense of humor because I'm not sure if it will be taken seriously and offend anyone... it's hard to sense sarcasm and humor in text.

I have a naturally sarcastic sense of humor, and I tend to not post as often as I would, because I know my humor doesn't always come across correctly in text.

When I do try to keep things light I feel like I have to use a lot of emoticons to make sure people know I'm joking.

ha yeah your are all right, i receive alot of texts off my mother in law and always think the worst when i read them thinking that shes going off on me again..but shes not really its just that text can come across wrong.

its a hard old world without the rest added to it i guess...and sometimes when you are giving someone support in a humorous way trying to get them to smile you feel like a bit of a silly thing when the next person to write a reply doesnt really support the person who has posted but has a virtual cat fight with you instead saying your are insensitive and dont have any understanding of weight control?!!!
