I have had some health problems recently and have been seeing a new female doctor at our practice.
I have had bloods done, blood pressure checked and at my request an ecg.
My problems have all been related to stress, I guess, and it is a relief to find out that everything is ok (especially the ecg as my dad died of a heart attack 10 years ago).
The most reassuring and comforting thing, however, has been the attitude of my doctor. At no time has she mentioned my weight as a cause of any of the problems, nor has she stressed me further by adding it as an after thought.
I had put off going to the surgery because of years of experiences where everything from a cold to a black eye has apparently had some link to my weight.
I actually feel that she has seen me as a real person, not just an obese person, which is a first for me!
Well done for finding a good doctor I think I have too!
I had a major doctor phobia for years and years I think stemming
from a visit when I was about ten when the doctor mentioned my
weight! But I have been going to the same doc regularly since
November for my anxiety problem and he has never
mentioned my weight even though I am obviously very fat!
Good doctors seem to be hard to find. Mine is slightly older than me, has two young children, works full time and wait for it, is over weight - probably about the same as me so that would make her severly obese. Never once has she mentioned my weight.
When I broke my foot a few years ago, it took a long time to realise it was broken. And a male doctor tried everything to see what was causing the problem. Yet again he never mentioned my weight although I obviously put a lot of mine on that foot.
Think I must have found a good doctors practice
