Can’t keep of the chocolate!

Over the last few months I have put on a lot of weight and I tried every diet out there to try losing the lbs. The problem when I was dieting was every time I went to do the weekly shopping at Asda and Tesco's. I would always end up in the bakery or chocolate section and temptation would always be to much.

I’ve been on a fresh home delivery diet now for a week and lost 5lbs, I am feeling a lot more confident about this diet, I don't have to go into the supermarket anymore so I will succeed

Does anyone else struggle with this? and how did you solve it?

Next weigh in Friday, will tell you the results :D

cdawnfine 04-15-2009 07:27 AM

Hi,

Congratualations on the 5lbs. I too am a chocoholic, I am on weight watchers and what I have found works for me is every night after dinner I have a fudge Pop even if I do not want it or crave it. I find by doing this I get a daily dose the cravings are so much less. I think once i realized I could have it the need to have it went away. You should look into what chocolate options your diet plan offers and incorporate it on a daily basis.

Get Skinny Cow ice creams or the Weight Watchers desserts. Chocolately goodness with damage control!

I find the weekly shop as the most empowering moment in my week! It's the ultimate time to make the difference in your week. AVOID the aisles with the chocolate and crisps and spend a good amount of time in the fruit & veg aisles. And if you're really struggling, write yourself a list.

nippy29 04-16-2009 04:18 AM

oh goodness i'm the same with chocolate and my evil boyfriend gave me his easter egg cause he don't want it. HELLO???????

Lizzyliz 04-16-2009 05:39 AM

Chocolate is soooo my weak point too when I go shopping! It wouldn't be too bad if it was just at the supermarket but I even get sucked in when I go clothes shopping somehow! What's the home delivery diet you mentioned? I'm trying one too at the moment and it might be the same one?!x

pradaornada 04-17-2009 04:17 AM

I hear you there Lizzy chocolate has always been my downfall but I am doing well and keeping off it :) I am on the Bodychef Premier Plan how about yourself?

MissVitality 04-17-2009 05:04 AM

Another chocaholic here!

i gave up chocolate for Lent but since Easter Sunday I have fallen into a big dark pit of Easter egg yummyness and it has to STOP!!!! HELP!!!! I am eating the stuff like there is no tomorrow and then I feel awful.

Ban Easter eggs ;)

My other temptation is the hot chicken counter in Tesco - I just can't resist the smell. I think I am going to have to start doing my food shopping online! Great idea about taking a list to the supermarket Georgia - I do that - but sometimes those wonderful smells make me add a few extras to the trolley!

Snappymuffin 04-18-2009 08:53 AM

I'm a chocoholic, and the only way I have got over this problem is to stop eating all chocolate. The only chocolate I will allow is the Mint-Choc Skinny Cows, and I like them for the mint flavour, not the chocolate.

Everything else is an absolute no-no, no biscuits, chocolate bars, cookies etc. Chocolate and sweet stuff is an addiction for me, so I have cut it out completely, as I'm unable to find a happy balanced approach.

Have you tried Slimfast Chocolate and Caramel bars?? Very yummy and 99 calories. Or cereal bars with chocolate or chocolate chips??

My downfall is cornflake cakes with two mini eggs percehed on top. I recently ate six in one sitting!

Tracey T 04-21-2009 08:08 AM

I too am a complete chocoholic they only way I get through is I weigh in on a Saturday morning and head straight for Tesco. That way have just had breakfast if I have lost I also allow a choccy treat so can scan the aisles looking for something nice. Always have my treat on a Saturday evening curled up on the sofa, its make the weekend! How sad does that sound :-)

pattsygirl 04-23-2009 04:36 AM

Saturday sofa night is my favourite time of the week too! Nothing better than a hot choc and a cheesy film :)

Going back to the slimfast bars with only 99 cals, isn't 99 cals stil a lot tho? I have a bit of an obsession with rocky bars and they 'only' contain 100 cals. So (and this is my simple practical mind working) is it then ok to eat rocky bars regularly if it's ok to eat slimfast bars?! Or is that too logical? hehe

MoonGirl 04-23-2009 05:12 AM

I had a dream last night that chocolate muffins were only 15 calories!

Umberto 04-23-2009 09:19 AM

i cant seem to have chocolate in moderation at all, its my kryptonite :) I try not to eat it at all, if i can go about 3-4 days without any, i find my cravings go away. But i live on my own so theres no chocolate about unless i buy it which makes things much easier.

kiramira 04-23-2009 10:23 AM

There are two theories:
1. Don't deprive yourself because it won't work in the long run. So find low-cal/low-fat substitutes.
2. Go cold turkey, because you will creep back to your old habits.
Those are your options in a nutshell.
At the end of the day, you need to try both to see what works for you. I wish I could tell you more, but I can't!
let us know how you make out!

ANOTHER CHOCOHOLIC CHECKING IN
chocolate is my real weakness, i can't do the low fat or just a little bit thing its all or nothing here . have you seen finding Nemo? the scene were Bruce the shark gets a whiff of Dories blood, well thats my relationship with chocolate major intervention is required i have had to ban tins of sweets at christmas becos i'm so weak so if you can handle small doses or lowfat bars i really envy you

sox 04-23-2009 06:33 PM

Im really bad with chocolate - I have a health problem which at one point a few months ago made me rely on chocolate for a quick sugar fix or I would have fainted. Only problem is Im now really bad with chocolate (always have been but not this bad)

Put it this way, I am that bad that this year when I bought easter eggs for family I bought a few extra for myself! Im determined to give up and for the first time EVER went to the supermarket today and didn't pick up any chocolate instead I bought a bunch of grapes and munched on them and actually felt better for it!

Vates 04-23-2009 06:55 PM

i love chocolate and dont have to give it up, i love the chocolate yogurt at trader joes and sometime i have an oz of high quality dark chocolate. its delicious and surprisingly low in calories

pattsygirl 04-24-2009 04:52 AM

The bodychef plan i'm on at the moment has got chocolate in it! I couldn't believe it but yes, it's true, I got a home made brownie and a sticky toffee pudding in this hamper :) :)

Had the sticky toffee pudding last night and it was actually really tasty (surprisingly?) and i've got the brownie for dessert tonight, plus i don't have to feel guilty because there's hardly any calories in them. Bring on dinner time!!

sox 04-24-2009 05:25 AM

sounds like a good diet plan to me!! hehehe

pattsygirl 04-28-2009 04:23 AM

Swapped to a bodychef flat belly plan yesterday, i got oat and cranberry cookies in this one! woohoo!!

lyndzro 08-03-2009 04:37 PM

I can totally identify with those cutting out chocolate. I find it so hard to control myself around it. My mum buys 6 packs of dairy milks or caramels (to save money) and Ive put them in the freezer to stop me having them so easily. But I know they're there!!! One on treat night has turned to 2 a night now and its defeating the point of all the work I'm doing in the day time eating well and exercising. I both adore it and despise it.

lyndzro 08-09-2009 05:49 AM

Im going back to having 1 bar a week after Im weighed in and buying skinny cow icecreams for in the week - theyre not the cheapest option but theyre lovely and only 87 cal and 1.5 fat each :)

giselley 08-09-2009 07:39 AM

I am not that into chocolate, but I like it occasionally. Chocolate is actually good for you, but what is bad is the oils they put in factory made cocolate. What I have done is buy good bittersweet dark cocolate powder and add it to some soy-milk and sweetner like stevia. That way I get the cocolate and not the calories. They also make low fat cocolate.

SoulSurvivor 08-09-2009 06:07 PM

Hey!!!

I'm a self confessed chocaholic, lol well I love almost anything sweet!! I have had days that I'd eat packs of chocolate biscuits (viennese mm) and chocolate bars, and chocolate and caramel shortbread and a whole lot more until I felt sick and then sleeep.
But over the past 2 weeks, I get my fix from having a cereal bar every day that's got chocolate in it or having an ice cream like a 'Mini Milk' that's sweet and creamy and 30cals each and 1.5 Syns on my slimming world plan. They're tiny but mmm I love them

lyndzro 08-10-2009 02:12 PM

sorry I skinny cow icecreams are actually 185 cal and 2.5 fat, I got them mixed up with twisters which are 87 cal and 1.5 fat, which are also nice but but much smaller and less satisfying :) theyre on offer in tesco 2 for £3 at the mo :)

touchmytoes 08-11-2009 04:57 AM

Im not a sweet eating type of person i must admit i would much prefer a pasty or a sarnie but since cutting down the carbs.....gosh..everywhere i look i see chocolate.
i went to morrisons the other day and they were doing this whole chocolate pudding with sprinkles and some other stuff on there too and it looked sooooo nice!!! and also i really really love tesco value chocolate i dont know why, used it once in a cake and cant stop eating it..although have stayed away for some time!! its very funny indeed cus its not like me!

so yeah i can relate, i have to take a list and just look away or i will buy it and i will eat it!!

SoulSurvivor 08-11-2009 06:18 AM

I went into Tesco yesterday and saw a Kit Kat Chunky caramel and I melted!!! I love caramel & I love Kit Kats..... I was thinking damn :(
But my favourite chocolate bar is one that was limited edition at Sainsburys... It was Milk chocolate with a coconut cream filling.. mmmm I used to just buy it and within a few minutes it was done!!!

sophiebean 08-13-2009 03:19 AM

When i go shopping i literally turn and run from the chocolate isle!

My way of coaping is when i really need a chocolate fix i have a low cal hot chocolate.. usually Options or Skinny Cow... it does help!
