Wide Calf Boot Stockists in the UK?
 

I wasn't sure whether to post this in the UK forum or the shopping one, but I thought I'd put it here as I really need advice from fellow Brits!

I am after a pair of knee or calf-high boots, and I just cannot find any that fit my horrible hulking great calves. I've been looking for years, and although I've seen tonnes of boots that I love, they never fit my calves. I'm coming close to giving up, because it's so disheartening going into a shoe shop and trying to crowbar my fat leg into a narrow boot whilst bending over on some horrible cube-stool, flashing my bum to half the shop. My calves have become slightly slimmer after having lost 3 1/2 stone, but not dramatically so - they are mostly just very muscular and solid, which I strongly dislike!

Ideally I'm after a flat boot or something with a low heel. Here's an example of a boot that I like:

I've tried Evans and didn't really like any of the styles, and on the web, I've tried Duo and PlusIn Boots, but again, haven't really spotted anything I fancy.

Can anyone recommend any shops or online places in the UK that have a good selection of nice boots that might fit my calves? It doesn't necessarily need to be a place that stocks specialist wide-calf styles, but perhaps just places you know that would accomodate a more "generous" leg!

Any advice or suggestions would be hugely appreciated!

Do you need a wide fitting foot width as well as Next's wide fitting boots also claim to be wider through the ankle and calf. I don't know how true this is as I've not tried any on but I have chunky calves despite a 7 and a half stone weightloss. I do need a wide-fitting shoe anyhow so perhaps the boots will work. However if you have a normal fitting shoe and wide calves that might be tricky.

Last year I did come across a specialist UK website that did boots in specific calf fittings called Duoboots or something similar. However they were quite pricy but did have offers in the post christmas sales.

i was going to suggest evans but you really do have to get them at the right time. i just got an amazing pair off their but they're too big on my calfs!

I buy all my shoes from here, now. If they don't fit you can send back and they have a fast turnaround. Dunno about wide calf but I notice because Earth shoes are a US firm, they go up to a large size foot so are probably larger than most UK boots?

It's also worth looking at the Clearance sections - I've got a few bargains on there. When I discovered Earth shoes simply stopped buying shoes/sandals/boots/trainers from anywhere else. They're beautiful quality, look great, are the most comfortable you'll ever wear and if you keep an eye on the site you get real bargains.

Have got so spoilt by their quality that I now look in shoe shops I used to think had good quality stuff and it all just looks like tat!

I know they do have some longer boots than these that have an adjustable fastening - the Lodge Boots, I think.

Forgot to add but... the Earth shoes are the ones you burn more calories when you wear them. They also give you great posture so you look 10lbs thinner anyway!

You should try DUO boots, They do plenty of sizes so you can get the right fit and they have plenty of flat and low boot styles.

I'm really surprised you didn't find anything at Duo boots. I got my first pair from them a couple of months ago and they are fab. I haven't been able to wear boots for over 25 years because of the combination of large calf and small foot, and although Duo are pricey I plan to buy more from them. Great fit and excellent quality.

I am in the same predicament with whopping 20.5 inch calves - last year I bought some in Evans, and could kick myself for not buying a second pair in the sales, because I love them, and they are sadly now falling apart.

This year, they only seem to have one extra wide leg pair, which I ordered, and they don't zip up past my ankle! So depressing, because despite having large legs, they are also quite shapely, so I love wearing tunics and leggings and knee high boots.

I have come across Curvissa and have bought boots from Duo before if you can afford the pricier end.

Try ebay as well, as someone may be selling their boots - I sold my Duo boots, as bought them, they seemed to fit beautifully, wore them once, and my feet hurt so much as they were too narrow in the foot, so had to sell them on ebay for quite a bit less than I paid for them :?: - anyhow, someone got joy from them.
