A new start...

Hi:wave:

Today I've deceided to start fresh on a 'diet'. I've been dieting on and off for the last 8 years and have yo-yo'd up and down in weight.

I've been stuck in cycle that looks a little like this: I loose a stone, i feel good, i deceide i can get away with eating a bit more, i put on weight, i get depressed, i eat some more, i put on more, I deceide to lose weight, I loose a stone.... and it all goes round in a circle.

I've tried low cal, low fat, Atkins (lasted a day!), Slimming World...you name it, I probably tried it! But I can't diet anymore. It's driving me crazy thinking 'can i eat this, how many calories? how many Syns? how much fat? is this healthy?' AAArgh! :fr:
So now i'm NOT on a diet. But I am gonna lose weight. I have a simple 3 step plan...
  1. Eat less junk
  2. Drink less alcohol, especially Lager (evil)
  3. Exercise more

So no more calories, syns whatever just a simple decision to eat less pizza etc... i know what i'm eating that's putting the weight on-it's not the salmon filet with vegetables, it's probably eating a whole pizza to myself!:jeno: And i'm quite sure that cutting down alcohol will help shed a few pounds... especially seeing as i tend to lean towards lager (i just like it, alright!) and limit myself to the occasional red wine (for the health benefits, don't you know!)

And as for exercise...well seeing as i haven't done any exercise for about 5 or 6 years that should be quite challenging. Step one in my exercise plan is to go swimming.:swim: Minimum effort required as I have a pool a 10min walk from my house, and i recently bought new swimwear in preparation for a spa trip in september so I may as well get some use out of it!

So that's it. Simple.... Hmmmmm :D

Good luck to you. I need to take myself in hand too. I ate and ate at mum's (bored to be honest). I always say around February that I must slim down before the hot weather comes, however, I am sitting at my desk in stifling heat and still stones overweight. Dum de dum.

Well I know how you feel! I lose weight add a few more calories gain weight...get sad...gain a bit more, now I'm at my highest ever weight and struggling to lose it all again. I wish you better luck than me!

its all so similar! i've been in that cycle too and in the same place as you, not a diet a lifestyle change!
in my post called plans, wagons & auto eating I told everyone one what I was doing to lose weight cos I didnt have a plan and I thought everyone else did. The response was very helpful, there is loads of great advice there.
Good luck

Well, it's just over 2 months since i first posted, and i lost 10 pounds before my holiday and spa trip so that was pretty good! I've put a few back on from enjoying nice food on holiday but i'm sure if i get back to my routine it'll soon go away. I'm just really pleased that i stuck to my new healthier lifestyle plan!
