Work Colleague
completely off topic i know....
i started working where i do about 2 years ago.... from that day ive had nothing but grief.... my colleague, direct boss, announced he loved me within two days.... then went on to try and split me and my fiancee up.... which ended up is us now just being boyfriend and girlfriend again.... i refuse to communicate verbally with him at work.... but will via emails.... anyway hes holding jobs back that need doing.... and wont tell me of more until i ask.... its pathetic.... needless to say its now getting on my nerves.... he wont take no for an answer.... so im wanting a way out.... i would have walked months ago if it wasnt for my mortgage.... anyway i guess this angers helping with motivation atm.... but grrrrr.... |
What a jerk! I know you probably feel trapped, but you definitely do NOT need this. Not only is this blatant sexual harrassment (and a LEGAL violation), but it's affecting your personal life - relationships, self motivation, etc. - and you need to find something else. It will not be your last job, and it probably wasn't your first. It may be the "best" (in terms of money or convenience, or whatever) but it's obviously not healthy in any way, shape or form.
You are the only person who will look out for YOU - and YOU deserve only the best. I would go in tomorrow morning with my resignation - and make sure that it spells out the sexual harrassment, and shows that you've cc'd it to HIS boss, etc. (whether you send it or not, he doesn't need to know that). Then I would head to the unemployment office or a temporary service or something. Once you've done that, go for a nice walk or swim - and go talk to friends and family about this. They can help you out I'm sure, until you get your head above water. The longer you let this man bully you into silence and unproductivity, the worse it will get. Best of luck to you sweetie - I know it's a difficult place to be, but it WILL pass and one day you'll look back and laugh....:-)) |
i know....
but until i have another job for definate.... i wont quit.... cant afford to.... mortgage, sports car.... i applied 4 two jobs last week.... n im waiting to hear back bout one other.... as soon as i hear ones a cert im off.... still its aided to a 2 hour bike ride today.... totalling 90km.... makes me feel less guitly for the small amount of alcohol.... and chocolate i ate/drank yesterday.... :) |
If you have a human resources department where you work (and even if you don't), then you have grounds for filing a sexual harassment complaint.

I hope you have some evidence as otherwsie it comes down to "He said this..." i.e. has he emailed anything inappropriate? If so keep it as evidence. It would also be good if you have witnesses to what was said too.

When you find a job, go to him, give your resignation and do file a sexual harassment report.
I have a friend back home, she was in the same situation and when she resigned, the guy became a stalker. Majorly creepy! So she had to file restricting measures upon him. Poor girl. So keep the emails and if he starting acting dodger, go to the police. |
