I know what you mean - my daughter bought me some chocolate scented body lotion for Christmas. Even with the lid on tight it still smells gorgeous!

geneve 02-11-2002 04:02 AM

A pedometer for Valentines would be asking for a fight here!!!I just wanted to say, I got a box of thorntons at Christmas, and I really enjoyed them, but no calories....how? I opened the box and threw them down the waste disposal. It may sound odd, but it was REALLY thereputic, as good as eating them, honest. I'd strongly recommend it to anyone. The trick is to do it before you offer one to anyone else!

Anyone else enjoying rainy half term week? I should be at the gym but instead I'm trying to persuade my 4 year old to get dressed....

What a vile day again today.. wish I was back at school.

I have to go to Asda and I am going to get soaked... must go to get all those yummy things I am allowed:p

May do a little tramping afterwards

Sarah Ann 02-11-2002 04:14 AM

I know FOR A FACT that there is ABSOLUTELY no way in this World that I could ever throw away a box of Thorntons choccies.

I know that in the same way that I know that I will never walk on the moon.

Geneve, you have my complete and utter admiration!

What flavour were they?????

I have just been showing the Internet and in particular this website to the woman who has moved in next door but one from me. I got chatting to her the other day (because I do Avon) and she mentioned that she had lost 'some' weight... and I said that I am dieting.... etc, etc... and I think I must have invited her round for a cup of coffee today (I have truely got the memory of a goldfish).

Anyway - she brought round a couple of photos of herself - the 'before' sort - which she keeps stuck on her fridge. SHE HAS LOST OVER 12 STONES!!!! She puts it down to Bachs Floral Rescue Remedy. I very occasionally use it if I am feeling stressed, but she says that all the while she was dieting she was having 4 drops x 6 times a day. Definitely worth trying - I'm off to the shops right now!

Wow, losing 12 stones, now that is impressive.

I have some Bach Rescue Remedy right here on my desk next to me. I bought it initially when I went on holiday last Summer as I am a nervous flyer and it was excellent, kept me totally calm and relaxed. I drop some in my water bottle first thing in the morning. Come to think of it, I have been doing that for the last week or so and I have felt calmer and more in control of my eating and exercise since then!

veggie 02-11-2002 09:20 AM

I am odd!

This is the truth...I would rather people bought me m&s crisps and wrapped them up for me than chocolate I could eat them for ever!! Couldnt actually tell people that though...it would be cheaper anyway!!

Sarah Ann 02-11-2002 09:42 AM

Nothing beats Thorntons rum or champagne truffles - definitely NOT crisps!

I am not quite sure what Bachs Rescue Remedy is - I think it is a distillation of flower essences in an alcohol base. It comes with a dropper and you either place 4 drops at a time on your tongue or add 4 drops to a glass of water.

I know for a fact that it works irrespective of whether you believe in it or not. My friend gave it to her dog who was one of those nervy, jumpy little things and it got quite chilled out.

My step daughter takes it for hypo hydrosis (sp?) which is when the sweat glands go in to overdrive. She was on the verge of having surgery to have the nerves to the sweat glands in her hands severed or something - in any event it would have involved having her lungs deflated, and her GP suggested she try the Rescue Remedy and although she isn't 100%, it helped enough that she decided against the surgery.

Its really supposed to be used to help people get through times of stress - I used it when I was very ill - not for the illness, but for the stress it caused and so did DH - it seemed to work - and a friend used it when her daughter developed cancer, just to help her through the bad times.

My bottle's about 2 years old so I think I will go and get a new one and give this a try. It can't do any harm

geneve 02-11-2002 10:14 AM

I'm a reflexologist and have used and recommended rescue rememdy for years...for stress. I have never heard of it being used for weight loss, although I did hear of someone who gave birth with rescue remedy as the only form of pain relief!
It's plant extracts in grape alcohol, you're supposed to take a few drops in water or on your tongue.
I can imagine it might help if you eat when you are stressed, andif it makesyou drink a big glass of water 6 times a day then it must be good!
12 stones though...that's amazing.I have almost 6 to lose, and it seems like a mountain to climb. Get your friend to post here...I'd love to hear how she did it. Great to know it can be done!

Gave BIRTH using it! OMG!! It has helped me through some very bad times in the past, but I don't think I would want to go quite THAT far.

She's not actually on the internet, she hasn't got a computer - which is why I was showing her round mine - she is thinking of getting one.

She said she took it because all she could think about at the beginning was 12 stones, 12 stones, 12 stones, 12 stones, the journey looked too big to handle and she got all stressed out thinking about it and ended up comfort eating... which is why she took the Rescue Remedy.

I have just taken my first four drops of my new bottle. I will let you know if it has any dietary effect - it is certainly helping me cope with the idea of Line Dancing (yuck) tonight!

Now all I need is something to help me be more assertive!

Jano 02-11-2002 10:40 AM

Ok where do you get it from and how much

DH hates flying, well the take off and landing. Sounds like that will help. He clings on to the arms of the seats for dear life!!:dizzy: I got to keep him flying or I'll be grounded too:^:

flumper 02-11-2002 11:12 AM

where !!

like jano id like to know where you get it and how much it costs? the way it seems to work sounds very similar to they kalms they are effective too

geneve 02-11-2002 03:05 PM

You can get it in Boots, it's with the homeopathic stuff.I can't remeber how much it is, about a fiver I think.
It's funny, I read about the lady who lost 12 stones with it and I thought 'oh it's just working as a placebo' but then when I was in the bathroom running the kids bath I found myself taking some!!!!
Maybe I'll give it a go, must be better then the cabbage soup diet!
Sarah Ann...line dancing, not my cup of tea either but think of the calories...come to think of it you don't see many fat cowboys do you?
