I want the same as all of you, I love all your honesty, I also want to stop falling over and if I do go down again, not go down with such a hard thump that the thud resounds round the neighbourhood....and causes so much pain to these fat wobbly knees! I want knees without bulges to the side of the cap!

Sarah Ann 03-07-2002 03:04 AM

I want to be able to chose a new hairstyle without having to think whether it will suit my double chins and round face!

Phoebe 03-07-2002 04:00 AM

I would like to go to my ultra-trendy hairdressers (staffed by size 6 glamorous stylists!) and have the confidence to discuss a new style. At the moment I still feel intimated, although they are all very nice.

Wonderful Thread!! Thanks Peachey!

I want:

to walk into the wind & to not care as it sticks my clothes up against my body...

to get out of a pool without immediatly pulling my clothes away from my tummy...

For that matter I want the confidence to get in a pool again!

to peirce my belly-button!!!

to wear women's jeans instead of mens! I want boot cuts, flares & even bell bottoms!!! With pretty embroidery & patches & lace! And lace up fly's & button up fly's!!! ...& belts! (i don't even especially like belts, but I'd wear one if it would fit & people could see it!!!)

to wear hippie style tops like peasant blouses! :smug: and pretty tanks in the summer!

to not have to wear spandex shorts under skirts (because my legs rub)...

to wear skirts & shorts in the summer... if i could wear shorts & skirts I'd even wear them in the winter too!!!

i want a butterfly shoulder tattoo!... (but i want to feel like a butterfly 1st)

to pack small for a weekend... (no bulky jeans & sweatshirts in a duffle bag!)... sheer blouses & skirts in a shoulder bag!

i too, want to eat in public w/o the feeling of people's disapproval!

to feel sexy & pretty... to be comfortable & happy about my bf seeing/touching me! :o

to stand tall & proud... to look people in the face... to have the confidence to voice my opinion when i have one...

Thanks for the great thread!!! ~Kalypso

Kalypso - print out that post of yours and stick it on the fridge!

I really, REALLY hope you get in to those shorts! Keep posting and let us know how you are getting on.

P.S. I used to be Peachey who started this thread.

Kalypso 03-22-2002 06:16 AM

it's on the fridge!!!

Hey! How are all you doin'?

The last couple days have been rough for me! :dizzy: So I decided to read through all these great reasons again to get myself back on track!

Sarah~ hey, great idea! This list is now on my fridge! & I know it'll be a helpful reminder!

Plus I'm thinking of creating a thread to post what I've eaten everyday... not that it'll be an interesting read for anyone, but it should deter me from munching; I'd hate to have to post to all the world that I couldn't keep myself out of the McD's drive thru! :o Ya know?

:smug: have a great day! ~Kalypso

We definitely all need a reminder of why we are doing this.... I just sat and ready this whole thread start to end and - yes - I think it has helped.

Fat in Hong Kong 04-29-2002 09:54 PM

Just came across this thread and read it from start to finish ... feeling very motivated now ... I am originally from UK (Halesowen, West Midlands) but living in HK at moment. Everything you have already said ... I WANT!! Along with a few more things ........

I want to walk the dog without her having to pull me up the hills...

I want to feel & look sexy for my hubby:o and not have to dive under the bed covers at night before he comes out of the bathroom ...

I want to be able to go into a clothes shop in Hong Kong without all the assistants looking at me wondering why I have gone in there as nothing will fit (they all have child-like bodies here!!) ...

I want a tummy that doesn't hang down!! (pre kids!) ...

I want arms that are slimmer than my hubby's at the top (he told me yesterday that mine were bigger:mad: ) ...

I want to sunbathe by the pool without wrapping myself in a huge cover-all sarong ...

I want to be happy ...

I want to be healthy ...

I want to be SLIM!!!!! ...

The list goes on and on and ...........

Nichola.

Sarah Ann 04-30-2002 03:37 AM

Well said, Nichola! Sometimes I really think our hubbies don't realise how a throwaway remark can really sting (like that one about your upper arms).

I know what you mean about using the dog to get up hills.... I'm still guilty of that!

I've got one to add to my list.... I want to be able to buy a dinky tiny pretty little lacy bra and not one that looks like a surgical appliance!

Hj40 05-04-2002 10:25 AM

This is a fab thread! I'm slowly working my way thru' all of them, and you lot are sooo funny, and so positive, just the sort of group that makes me know if we were all sat in the pub we would be rolling laughing. Anyway I want:

1 To remind my hubby of the girl he married, yes yes I know I am a mature (ha) 40 y/o woman now, but wouldnt it be great to be able to flounce around the boudoir in stockings again? :o

2 To have the confidence to go out with my friends. They are both old friends, I mean they are not OLD, I have known them a long time, but they are both skinny and gorgeous. I wont go out at night with them as I dont want the blokes looking over at me and saying to each other "The fat one's yours mate"

3 To stand in the changing rooms in Selfridges and shout "The 12 doesnt fit me..could you bring me a size 10?" :smug:

4 Finally, I DO worry about my health. My mum died last year, breast cancer, and there does seem to be a definite link between it and a high fat diet. She also had struggled with her weight for most of her life.

I want to stop people saying: you're such a well-dressed, good-looking, nice, intelligent, smart, funny person, IF ONLY you would be able to lose some weight...(I have lost enough weight since then, but this comment still makes me feel sick in the stomach after 15 years).

Smiling Sal 05-11-2002 04:34 AM

I have some more reasons

1. I want to walk up 5 flights of stairs with puffing - can walk on the flat for miles but stairs kill me - I am practising though.

2. I want to look in the mirror and like what I see

3. I want to see my toes - not just my tummy

4. I want people to ask me if I've lost weight

5. I just want to do it - I want to be lighter and get myself back

NickyB 05-14-2002 04:16 PM

I want to be able to say to my lovely mum, who's been so supportive of me all the time I've been a size 18/20: "I'm a size 12 like you" and see the delight on her face.

NickyB 05-14-2002 04:17 PM

Oh, I should have said, mum lives in Australia!
