Best way to shed a stone quickly?

  • Hi all, I am starting on my diet again tomorrow, failed miserably last time and gave up and now am back to my starting weight and feeling very fed up, it is my birthday today (38) and hubby has paid for a night in a hotel with a romantic meal in the place we had our first date, it is in 3 weeks time and I am desperate to shed as close to a stone as possible before then - is this in any way possible or am I aiming too high?

    All advice gratefully received!
  • At your height and weight a stone in 3 weeks is unrealistic. Aim for 1/2 stone and you've got a better chance of succeeding and you'll feel better. I just put on 1/2 stone in a 2 week holiday so I know how you feel but if you aim for a stone you're going to mess up.
  • well im no medical advisor or even that great at giving advice because most of the time im taking it.

but... yeah it is pretty unrealistic but you could maybe try that liquid diet that katie price and colleen have done once or twice in the past... im not quite sure just what the results are like or how easy it is to stay on track because i have never done it before but ive seen katies figure after she done that and it is worth a look or two.

dont just start it straight away... research it on google type 'liquid diet' and see if its for you get lots of info before starting it

hope t helped but as i say i mostly take advice not give it lol xxx
  • Um, I'd assumed you wanted to do it healthily but you could try not eating at all - that should work
  • Thanks girls, am just going to be really good and see what i can do, thought a stone was prob pushing it!!
  • Apologies for being an ignorant American, but just exactly how much does a stone weigh?

14 lbs in a stone. When I convert my weight to stones I'm always horrified because it always sounds worse than saying pounds.
  • I think a stone in 3 weeks is a lot, but there are some diets out there that can help you do that, but in my experience, the weight always piles back on, because it's not a lifestyle change, just a quick fix that stops working as soon as you stop doing it.

I loosely follwed the ultimate new york body plan before xmas (a silly time to try and lose weight really, lol) and I lost 10lbs in two weeks. It's based on eating small meals consisting of protein and veg. I didn't have the protein shakes advised (too expensive, in fact all the meat you have to buy is pretty expensive on it's own!) and I didn't exercise as suggested (when I tried, I just couldn't find the energy!) but I still lost the weight AND I put it all back on again over xmas, which I kind of expected anyway.

Half a stone is much more achievable, especially if you want to keep the weight off. If you're not dieting or exericing at the moment, the change in lifestyle should help shift a good few lbs in the next few weeks. Good Luck!
  • going2behealthy thanks for good luck wishes (i need them today i am STARVING!)

shymoment - I was wondering when someone was going to say that
  • Whatever you choose to do, be consistent and keep at it.
  • when i first started i lost a stone in ten days! i just jumped right in tho, an hour of exercise a day (running or cycling) andeating very healthily.
  • I agree it can be done but with respect Loopy you had a high starting weight. Tracy's stats are such that she's got very little to lose.
  • Doughnut - thanks for saying I have little to lose, i feel a bit better now I really do want to lose a stone and a half though
