Question about cambridge diet
Hi i wonder if anyone can help me, ive been on WW diet for nearly a year and only lost 17lbs despite eating healthily and doing exercise i just cant seem to get past the 17lbs this has happened in the past when ive tried other diets so i'm thinking of trying the cambridge diet but im worried what happens about excess skin...ive got 6 stone to lose and im really concerned that il be left with huge bingo wings and drooping boobs, stomach and well everything....has anyone been on that diet and lost that amount of weight or does anyone have any advice?

Anyone losing a large amount of weight any way is at risk for extra skin, but the biggest contributors seem to be.
1. Losing it quickly - Slower weight loss seems to result in less loose skin (but doesn't eliminate the possibility) or so I've been told 2. Genetics - some people are lucky and have very elastic skin, 3. Age - the younger you are the more elastic your skin. After menopause, for women, skin loses much of it's elasticity (whether you are losing weight or not). What is supposed to help is eating a balanced diet (not too restrictive of one food group), taking a multivitamin, staying well hydrated (the 8 - 10 glasses of water, usually recommended), using a body lotion (I've heard some people recommend the lotions used during pregnancy to prevent stretch marks, others say any lotion will do, and losing weight slowly. I don't know if all (or any) of these truly help, but since they're not bad advice, or expensive to follow, they couldn't hurt. |
Hi kaplods and thanks for your reply, i'm 24 at the mo and really hoping my skin has enough elasticity in it lol. I spose i'll talk it through with the cambridge diet counsellor when/if i decide to do the plan. I'm not as bothered bout the stomach skin my biggest fear is my arms as im getting married next july and wearing a strapless dress and really hate my arms so im hoping they'll shrink nicely, failing that i'll have to do loads of baked bean lifts hehe

What is the cambridge diet is it the same as the lighterlife diet?? I have been at ww since January this year had lost 15lb but slowly i'm losing my will power and have now but back on some weight.

Hi Fee, the cambridge diet is very similar to lighter life only about half the price but i do believe with lighter life you receive cognitive behavioural counselling which basically looks at finding out why you eat what you eat and how to change your way of thinking about food but as i give my clients cbt i dont think i require that and i know i eat food becoz i love its taste lmao that and comfort eating when im bored/sad/low etc.
The reason im considering it is basically becoz i too have lost my motivation with WW no matter what i do i either lose weight one week and put it back on the next and have stayed the same weight for 7 months which when i think of all the classes ive paid for during that time just feels like a waste of money so i'm gonna try this and then if that doesnt work which it should if i follow it properly then i can go back to my gp and moan and say whats wrong with me lol |
