Yet another lingo question.
"Take a bob for Mr. Howard". Brianna, the woman in my book, was being forced to meet Mr. Howard. Stephen, her captor, was pushing her towards Mr. Howard.
Is "take a bob" bowing or some sort of thing? TIA |
It sounds to me like, in this instance, as if the 'bob' referred to would be the sort of half curtsey that a housemaid would make to her employers. (Sort of like a little bend of the knee - intended to show respect.)
I can't think what else it might be - another 'bob' is a hairstyle and yet another 'bob' is a slang word for an old fashioned unit of currency. |
