Yuck!
That's what someone said to me as I walked past them with my lunch.
Charming! I could make judgements on his diet - RICE CAKES and TINNED SOUP AND PACKET NOODLES. But I don't. |
Well what ya got in your lunch box then lovey, please do tell
|
Jacket potato with (full-fat) cottage cheese
Just what I wanted today :T |
MMMMMMMMM  very yummy...I like lots of pepper on my cottage cheese....
|
Sounds like coming from him that's a compliment!
|
Ignore him, his lunch sounds horrid anyway!
My mum always said it was very bad manners to comment on what another person was eating, insist (very nicely of course:devil:  ) that he tries a bite next time he offers up his unwanted opinion. :smug: |
some people are just rude! rude man id have tipped it on his head lol
|
Nothing wrong with your lunch - he just sounds rude and ignorant!
|
Lunch doesn't sound like something I would have but it wouldn't something I would look and think yuck, never mind when your at your target weight he'll prob have gained about 5 stone eating those healthy noodles lol.
|
Obviously his mother forgot to teach him any manners!
I'm not a great lover of cottage cheese - or jacket spuds - but this world would be a very boring place if we all like the same things. |
That's one of my favourite lunches! Nice, quick and easy, plus it really fills me up too. His lunch, on the other hand, doesn't sound very appetising at all!
|
Much as I hate cottage cheese i would not be so rude. If I really felt I must make a comment (and I do not think I would) I would say that I did not like cottage cheese.
By the way I was reading a recipe from a chef - I think Simon Rimmer whose mum makes lasagne with cottage cheese instead of a bechamel sauce - so I guess it would be a slimmer version? |
That might be quite nice if you whizzed it up and made it in to a smooth sauce - not sure I'd like it with the lumps still in it.
This thread prompted me that with my new Challenge motivation I needed to get back to eating at least SOME cottage cheese so I made that cottage cheese, oats and eggwhite pancake for the first time in ages this morning... I had it with defrosted blueberries... and it was yummy. |
It may have been sieved. To be honest I saw the word cottage cheese, shuddered and put the mag down. I will have another look and report back for them as wants to know!
|
Oh yummy, cottage cheese is lovely in lasagna! Except I mix it right into the red sauce. It's not really a substitute for anything. It's an ingedient in its own right. I've just always made it that way. Must be an American thing, hehe. I was more surprised by the layer of bechamel in lasagna that I found when I moved over here. I don't get what it's for cos it doesn't really taste like much and just seems like wasted calories. Can someone explain what it's for? Is it to thicken the red sauce?
Frus, your lunch sounded nice. I grew up with a mother who comments on EVERYTHING you put in your mouth. In fact, she still does. I can't understand her need to say "yuck" and wrinkle up her nose in distaste. I was extremely nervous to even take her out and about when she visited for fear she'd embarrass us, especially at my fave Tandoori. Yes, she is THAT bad! Why can't people just refrain from commenting? Heh, I just realized what I had said about the bechamel in lasagna. That was an honest question, not an "ooh yuck".:D |
