Welcome to the UK Spring Chick Challenge

Just thought I'd put this thread up now as I'm not around tomorrow. :D

Welcome to the UK Spring Chick Challenge

Spring..... full of hope and good intentions ..... and rather a lot of chocolate eggs and hot cross buns. Its also the lead up to the time of year a lot of us who could do with dropping a few pounds dread the most - those long summer days when carrying extra pounds makes us hot, tired and irritable. Then, just to make it worse, the heat forces us to take off those concealing layers and show some of the dimply flesh we would prefer to keep hidden. :o

C'mon girls, lets use these few weeks productively - lets support each other and work together towards getting in better shape.

Everyone is invited to join in - don't worry if you don't start on Day 1

As agreed, this Challenge will run from Easter Monday (tomorrow) until Spring Bank Holiday / Memorial Day - which is the 28th May - giving us 7 weeks. It might be a more manageable length than the last one which seemed to go on forever  (and which I failed miserably on....) :(

I'll put up a thread every Monday afternoon for the weigh ins - don't worry if you don't weigh yourself on Mondays - just update on your regular day - or post every day if it works better for you! Whatever floats your boat. :dizzy:

Goals / aims / targets: Its up to you - could be fitness related, could be life changes, could be weight loss - its whatever you want it to be. Just make it realistic - something that is attainable by the end of the Challenge. Whatever your personal target, it would be great if you could mention it on your signature.

Good luck everyone!

:grouphug:

------------------------------

As I did so awfully on the last Challenge I'm changing my personal goal, rather than specifically making it 'weight loss' my intention is to take control of my life and if I drop a few pounds in the process then that will be a bonus. These are my promises to myself:

:carrot: I will eat a healthy low fat, low GI diet - ignoring calories but focussing on portion control.

:carrot: I will stop the unhealthy evening snacking I've been indulging in since Christmas.

:carrot: I will get moving more. I will do at least 30 minutes more exercise each day (except Tuesdays).

:carrot: I will keep a diet/exercise diary.

veggie 04-08-2007 09:04 AM

I'm going for a stone (14 pounds) and this time I am going to do it.

:wizard:

:frypan:

:kickbutt:

:dust:

That enough smilies? :p

My target is 255.

Clydegirl 04-08-2007 09:32 AM

I'm in but instead of an ammount I'd like to lose, I want to get into the clothes I bought last summer that do not fit me.

:goodluck: :high: :goodvibes :broc: :goodscale

PS I will weigh on Thursdays as usual.

tracyj69 04-08-2007 12:29 PM

Count me in dudes!!! going for getting back into at least my biggest pair of size 12 trousers (if not the whole wardrobe of size 12 clothes i own!) going to add a note to my signature right now xx:carrot:

RowanMoon 04-08-2007 02:40 PM

I'm up for this one too! I'd like to lose at least a stone and a half by the end of May and try to stop the cheating when I'm on my own as well!

madaboutbooks 04-08-2007 04:29 PM

hi i`m in. find these challenges great motivation.
anyway by the end of this challenge, im hoping to get as much below 12 stone (im currently just over 12 and a half) as i safely can. also hoping to fit comfortably into a size 16, maybe heading towards a 14. im on holiday in june, so want to look ok.
:carrot: people who dont know im aiming to get slim, are actually noticing my weightloss.
:carrot: i have to wear a uniform at work. have been wearing a size 24 +. yesterday i tried on a size 16, and it was actually a little loose.
mad
ps.hope everyone enjoyed their easter eggs. i am currently munching on a small bar of lindt 70% dark chocolate . to be honest not enjoying it as much as i thought. maybe my tastebuds are becoming slightly re educated (wishful thinking)

micheleherts 04-08-2007 05:24 PM

Hello I am in too. I must do something thats for sure.

I'm aiming to lose 7lbs.

Good luck everyone

Michele

ABitOnTheChubbySide 04-08-2007 06:31 PM

Good idea, count me in too.

I wanna lose about 2 stone (since I'm going on holiday 2 and a half weeks after the challenge ends) but I have lots of uni work to do too - and since I lose nearly all my weight by exercise, this might be difficult. 4 pounds a week is attainable though, but to be on the safe side I'll aim to be down to 10 stone (140) by the end of the challenge!

Phudge 04-09-2007 04:33 AM

I'd like to loose 7 lbs - i think that's attainable in 7 weeks for me. It's slow because I have ME so am not able to excercise so that will be by diet alone, making sure I have low-fat foods and portion control. That means I will weigh 16 stone something rather than 17 stone something I am now!

Good luck to everyone!:)

piddlingaround 04-09-2007 05:40 AM

Me! Me!

Ideally like to lose 7lbs, but will settle for sensible eating and no binges!
Good luck everyone :D

redsoxgirl 04-09-2007 06:24 AM

I'm sitting this one out......I'm sick of reporting no changes!!!!

bits 04-09-2007 06:45 AM

I'm going to try this one too, I'll aim for a pound a week, making a goal of 7lbs off :)

MiaWallace 04-09-2007 07:56 AM

Maybe a bit unrealistic but I'm aiming to lose 14 pounds (taking me to 150lbs). I think I can manage 2 pound a week, if I continue going to the gym and resisting the easter eggs.

Also going to make my deadline slightly earlier. Hoping to do it by my daughters second birthday (May 23)

Good Luck

Mummy_Tummy 04-10-2007 04:26 AM

Count me in! This is just what I need right now and as we have a wedding to attend at the end of May, I'd be very happy to lose 10 pounds before I go shopping for a new outfit. I've been very very lax about weight loss these last few months so time to get in gear!

My goals:

1) 3 litres of water a day (which isn't even hard for me to achieve when I stick to it)
2) Power walking 5 mornings a week
3) Weights 3 mornings a week
4) Eating a decent breakfast, even if it's just toast and a piece of fruit
5) Back to my grilled cod or salmon and veggies for lunch
6) Back to the Mediterranean way of eating, incorporating more fresh veggies and wholefoods into my meals and snacks
7) Planning my menus

doozer 04-10-2007 04:51 AM

I want in!!!

I would like to lose 12 lbs which would work out as just under 2 pounds a week. I'm 168 now (an even 12 stone:mad: ) and that would bring me down too 156 (11stone 2). Which, if I actually managed it would be un-be-lievable.:^:

Good luck to all involved. I'm gonna weigh in Mondays.

YP1 04-12-2007 08:46 AM

Right, I haven't posted my goals yet.

1. My marathon is on 27 May, so that's the number 1 priority. If I run better a bit heavier because I have more energy reserves to call on, then so be it. I will eat what I need to train, and try not to obsess about quantity (although I reserve the right to be picky about quality). I want a PB, and I want to run all the way this time.

2. I'd like to hit 148 at least once in my life so I can say I've lost 8 stone. I got down to 149 before easter so I think it's doable. I'm not going off my weight on the 28th though - that will be skewed by marathon running and post race eating/drinking, so for the weight part of this my cut off date is 25 May (and even that might be affected by carb loading...)

3. This is the fun bit. Last year I bought myself some fab jeans for my birthday (31st May). I'm thrilled that I can still fit in them (not least because they were so expensive!) so this year my challenge is to find something equally fantastic to buy. I want to get myself one real quality piece of clothing each year for my birthday as a reminder of what I've achieved. Of course I'm still allowed to buy clothes the rest of the year ;). I may only get round to this in Madrid, but I'll start thinking about what I want to buy now.

4. Stick to the basics. Lots of fruit and veg, lots of carbs, not so much alcohol and chocolate. I know what to do, but sometimes I seem to fall off track a bit. Even though I can get away with eating more, I need to remember that I don't need to make up the excess with chocolate and wine...

Clydegirl 04-12-2007 08:58 AM

This is my weigh in day and I was 206.5 up half a pound.

simplyunique 04-12-2007 09:21 AM

My goal is too lose 21lbs :) by the end of this challenge x

fee2482 04-12-2007 12:47 PM

My weigh in was tonight and lost 1.5lb so on my way to losing my 10lb woo hoo.

MiaWallace 04-12-2007 01:49 PM

Nice start fee. Well done

fee2482 04-12-2007 04:21 PM

Oh meant to say in last posting. I booked today to go to the Gym on a Monday and Wednesday so hopefully that will help me on my way. I have my cousins wedding on 7th July so am aiming to lose the weight for then so that I feel more comfortable in how a look.

Sarah Ann 04-13-2007 05:19 AM

Welcome to everyone - lovely to see so many people joining in and so full of enthusiasm.

bits 04-14-2007 05:26 AM

I've had my weigh in too this morning and (surprise, surprise) have stayed the same!

madaboutbooks 04-14-2007 02:44 PM

i weighed in tonight instead of tomorrow as ive been doing loads of night shifts and my body clock etc all all out of sync
despite having a mini binge :( on thursday, ive lost 2.6 lbs .probably did me good. i ate on top of my normal food. portion home cooked shepherds pie, 1 mars bar and a handful of choc chip cookies, yum yum. its really hard trying to eat from scratch/healthy when im doing nights. i should prepare in advance and freeze, but im so disorginised. mad

veggie 04-15-2007 10:10 AM

I forgot I stuck this. :dizzy: Well done madaboutbooks. :)

flowerfairy2B 04-16-2007 04:29 PM

Im a newbie,Im in on this one but a week late I guess so I weighed in today on my first week at 162lbs and by June 17th I so want to be thinner by 2 stone but thats pushing to far but definately one and a half so I will go with one and a half stone by the end of this challenge, thats 21lbs mmmmmm, well done everyone who has successfully completed their first week.

going2Bhealthy 04-16-2007 05:00 PM

I'd love to join in! I'm a week late, so I'm giving myself 6 weeks to lose 12lbs, be back ontop of eating my 5 fruits and veg a day and be drinking at least 1.5 litres of water a day. I've pretty much cut out everything junkie (except alcohol :o), so now I need to fill in all the gaps with good healthful things :)

I weighed in at 186.2lbs today.
