Going Cold Turkey
day 1 - been good so far no chocholate.... :carrot:
i cant be trusted... and it sets me off on a cycle of muching crazy amounts.... so until i can be trusted.... this is a banned substance !!! what are you going cold turkey on ..... |
Cheese,
Chocolate, Bread, Alcohol. I've not had any of the above since Jan 2nd. And to be truthful, at the moment I'm not missing them. I've found it easier to just buy the food I need for that day, so if I get the munchies, tough, there nothing in the kitchen to tempt me. Luckily my hubbie understands, but he will keep talking about chips. How much longer I can keep this up for is anyones guess, the real test will be the end of Feb, when we go away for a weekend with friends, all of whom are BIG drinkers (and eaters). |
wow well done !!!....
even if u break it for the weekend... have a bit of what you fancy & then when ur home.. back to it !!!.... |
Thats the theory. Trouble is once I start being 'bad' my will power flys out of the window.
The main problem with the weekend is one of the ladies is a lot bigger than me, and tends to think I'm getting at her by not eating and drinking constantly. She is a lovely person, but she is a bit of a diet saboteur. Still I've got a month to figure out a way to stick to my diet without giving her the hump.:) |
I too have had to ban chocolate and ice cream. I can't cope with even a mouthful. I could eat (and did, frequently) a 200g dairy milk bar and look around for more. I can also eat 3 ben and jerrys cartons in a sitting. I have to eat 2 cos one whole carton isn't enough (nobody in my real life knows this) and at £4 a chuck let alone the calories...........
|
yup... sounds like she jellous.. if she gets the hump thats her problem..
stick to it & ignore her looks/comments.... ur doing it for you... and its not your fault that she bigger than you... your doing something to help yourself... just think how you used to feel.... and not how gd those nughy foods are! is there a chance that you can cook your own dinners??? or cook 4 the group???? ... sudden allergies to all sorts of random things - nuts, egg, tomoato ooo its too much problem i will cook for myself ??? lol.... trouble is tho could get caught out easy and just moderate drink... if u drink diet coke.. they wont know there a shot or not of something in it !... so u could alternate your drinks.. |

Isn't it funny how you can post stuff on here that you wouldn't tell people to their face ie how much I weigh :D |
Yes... it was only at Christmas (when I was a bit tiddly) that I finally felt able to tell DH what I'd weighed at my highest - yet I didn't have any problem at all posting it on here.
I think its just lovely to know that there's somewhere you can go to say this kind of thing and people will completely understand - and sympathise. |
oooo skinny moos.. (as we call them.. if anyone hears us out shopping lol)
i heart them... but one is enough .... damn i want one now.. grr.. lol... i can easily eat 2 big bags (like u get in cinema../ "share yah right size" of giant buttons.. in a few mins really... oh an not feel sick!... i think thats the thing too...not feeling sick after eating so much when surely i should! this is why its banned !!!!!! |
OMG -chocolate buttons! I can eat 3 big bags of those - it' truly dreadful.
Yeah, nobody in my real life knows about this stuff. I think good on you Sarah for telling your DH your weight - I am so not that brave. My other half thinks I weigh 9 1/2 stone - men can be so blind :) |
That's what I was most scared of when I did the mag - having the before and after weights plastered over the page for everyone to see. It's one thing people knowing I've lost weight and presumably being able to do the rough maths, and another to have it written down in black and white.
Particularly when my mother and grandparents got hold of a copy, and my boss. |
dougnut... they are the best ever.. but have to be the giant ones.. the little ones just dont do it..
|
YP1- did anyone say anythign when the found out the "real" figures??
or dont you worry now as its all gone & your not going back to the way you were?? |
I've banned bisucits...if I have a mug of coffee in my hand I can get through so many biscuits, just dipping them in the coffee and eating them up. So no biscuits, unless the odd pack of weight watchers ones. I only let myself have them because they're just two in a pack, so I don't have a big, full biscuit tin in front of me!
I spend a lot of time in Travel inns too with my work, a lot of days and nights away from home which makes dieting really hard, especiallyt as though they don't even have a fridge in the room. But they have lovely biscuits in there, again just in a pack of two, so sometimes if I want a treat I'll take a sachet of Options and have that in bed with the pack of biscuits before I go to sleep :) |
Lou - 100% with you on the giant buttons. The little ones aren't worth the effort unless you tip your head back and pour them in. Haven't had the little ones since the giant ones were invented!
Bits - I too have banned biscuits along with icecream and chocolate because chocolate chip cookies .... However, I didn't add them to my banned list because I, like you, can cope with the WW ones. Have you tried the WW flapjacks? They're fantastic if you can find them. |
lol .... yup i had th little ones.. was busted.. as i must have stuffed in a handfull.. droped one without realising.. so it melted in my top..
my g/f dad saw the mess.... i blamed it on chock cookie we had (special xmas ones) haha then ran to check for other escaped ones ops! |

Doughnut - I haven't seen those ones before but I LOVE flapjacks (surprise, surprise!) so I'll keep an eye out for them, thanks :)
|
Bits - re the flapjacks - I have to say that they are so like the real thing that if it weren't for the depressing packaging you wouldn't know you weren't eating a full on fat laden effort. They're quite hard to find though and I only ever seem to find them in Sainsburys sava centres - the massive ones. Went to the largest asda in the world the other day and they didn't have them. They're normally somewhere near the bread which I've never got the hang of but there you go.
Lou, Clyde - we have to stop this it's not good for us and I'm beginning to get hungry :dizzy: |
yup..... i know it can set ppl off talking about it....
sorry!!! |
Don't worry about it mate - to get my hands on chocolate buttons i would have to get into a car and find somewhere that's open. I have a will of iron. I do. OK - it's really, really cold outside :o
|
It's a treat for me to get chocolate buttons. I would borrow them from my youngest and I would have to drive to the next town where the British shop is. Then pay a great deal of money for them.
OK not a great deal but a lot more than I would pay back home. |
OMG - I am SO lucky that I don't much like chocolate! Its one of those things that I'll eat if its around but I wouldn't think to buy unless its for someone else or for a special occasion (like Christmas).
My problem is cheese... and fresh crusty bread - but I've got the bread addiction more or less under control - so I'm left with the cheese problem. Why don't they do rehab centres for cheese 'n' chocolate???? |
ooooo maybe were onto something,,,
i think we should have ration books .... like in the war... then u cant buy it coz you dont have the tokens .... they shoul have ur name on & id checked @ the tills... any shop found breaking the rules is in big trouble...... |
I've given up Pepsi Max (aka battery acid) since Jan 2nd and I'm 25 days clean from my Coke habit!
I'm pondering cutting down sugar to help reduce cravings so I will have a good excuse when we go out 4 dinner... |
ive stopped drinking the brown stuff... i cant sleep @ night... ( i dont drink tea or coffee.. odd person that i am!) so i just drink water now if we go out... cheep date tho !... hehe
|
Same with me - I don't drink any caffeinated or carbonated drinks nowadays. I stopped drinking cola when I saw how shiny it brought up an old 2p piece - makes you wonder what its doing to your insides!
I drink decaff tea or coffee, herbal teas or water nowadays. Water with a twist of lime is nice. If you want to sleep well I can recommend the Twinings camomile, honey & vanilla. I've decided.... I'm gonna go cold turkey on the cheese... I can't cope with knowing its in the fridge. I've frozen what's leftover in portions so DH can take a frozen lump work with him for his packed lunch - hopefully it should defrost by his meal break otherwise it'll be a bit yucky. |
My downfall is the big bags of maltesers, thanks to the TV add's I've convinced myself that they are mostly air. Unfortunatly my belly and bum give lie to that one:mad:
Oh and if there is cheese in the house...................... |
Ooohhhhh another cheese-lover!
I've managed to kick the malteser habit. (love that honeycomb centre). They were very instrumental in DH and I getting together so we always used to have a box or three in the house. Y'know - I keep seeing the title of this thread on the list and it reminds me of how nice cold roast turkey is... so I wonder why withdrawal from something (presumably an unpleasant experience) is called 'cold turkey'. Yeah - its a dim question - but I'm allowed cos I'm blonde! ;) |
ive often wondered!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cold_turkey "going cold turkey may be extremely unpleasant, but not life-threateningly dangerous"..... mmm wonder if they have researched chocholate & cheese???? |
