Thinking about joining
Hi,
I just recently heard about TOPS and there are two groups that meet very close to where I live. I have been thinking about joining. Currently I am following the South Beach Diet (trying to at least), I have been to weight watchers in the past and the thing that I liked most about that is the meetings and I feel like that's what I'm missing now...are TOPS meetings similar to WW meetings? I really feel like I need that kind of support, these message boards are great but there is something to be said about human face to face contact. Thanks, |
Hi Sarah,
Tops is a support group. It's non profit and you can use whatever diet you like. I like Tops better than I did WW, not only because of the price difference, but because of the friends that I have made and we do more at the meetings. We have a weigh-in, then when the meeting starts we have a role call, we usually have a few minutes to go over business, then we have a program. We have contest, incentivities and we get awards for losing weight. You can visit each Tops chapter one time to see if you like it and then join if you want. Check out the first post that says "tops" it gives a lot of information. Good luck and let us know if you join. Nita |
I highly recommend TOPS! Like Nita said, it is very resonablly priced to join and they are great with support. Oh and I don't want to forget to tell you about the magazines, my daughter and I love to get them. They have articles and ideas in them. Go check out a meeting I think you will like it. I went with two other friends, the first time, because I was a little shy, and two of us stuck it out so far. Maybe if you can get a friend to go with you that first step won't be so hard. :)

We just had 3 women from a WW group join ours today. They said that it was a big difference and they liked TOPS better. Since I have never gone to a WW meeting before but did go to Jenny Craig for almost a year, All I can really say is TOPS is better for me than JC and as far as WW, it's only hearsay. Now then to be fair, I have heard some pretty bad stories of some TOPS groups also. So I guess what I am trying to say is that there are good and bad in all, it's just up to you to find the right one. But then as long as you lose, who cares but you, which program or support group you belong to.
