  • Where is everyone and how are you all doing?

I have had less time to post due to the usual December happenings but I intend to post my menu and exercise daily at the very least!

I have been on program and am curious as to how this next weigh-in will turn out...I have lost steadily for a month and have made it through Thanksgiving & TOM with out gaining or plateauing!

I have decided on a new workout plan that gives me 3 days a week of weight training and 4 of cardio. On some days, I do both Yoga and weights and on some I do both Yoga and cardio

My weekly goals are to burn a minimum of 2500 calories through exercise and to cut my total calories by 4000 from my suggested number needed to maintain my weight (according to my BMR).

This results in a plan that allows for a total of 10,000 calories a week (between 1200-1800 a day) and that is totally doable for me at this time (only a few days are 1200 and one is 1800...it seems like a good range).

Okay! Enough chatting and on to today's plans!

Today I will workout with 45 minutes of cardio and then take a 90 minute yoga class.

I'm making white bean, cabbage, potato, carrot, kale, onion and garlic soup and will have that for lunch and possibly dinner.

I'll also have a fresh veggie juice today and a gallon of water. I'll post back later today with my actual menu.

Have a great day ladies and make every choice count (becuase it does!)
  • Wow Yogi.. Thats very agressive!!! but I know you are very focused and will do it.. I plan to get moving more this week.. due to really bad arthritis, I cant do a lot, but it does help, even what I do.. usually do 30-45 cardio and try to rotate upper and lower body work outs on the machines.....My friend makes a very similar soup but uses chicken broth as a base.... do you make your own juice, I think my friend does.. Tonite for our Tops christmas party I ordered Talapia .. a mild white fish, with fresh veggies... cant wait.. so have a good week and talk soon... India
  • My TOPS Christmas party is this week too I'm bringing my own meal because they are eating at a restaurant that has virtually NO options for me but steamed veggies (not on the menu, but they'd make it for me) and a plain salad with no dressng It's cool though because I'll be able to bring in healthy and yummy foods and show them it's possible to do both!

I *do* make my own juice. My family juices daily and it really helps keep us on track, health-wise

Well, I made the soup and it's DELICIOUS! and low calorie

So, I had 2 servings of that for breakfast=300 *and*

    1 piece focaccia=100

Later, I'll have a juice (beets, carrots, celery)=200

    Another 2 servings of soup=300

    A soy yogurt drink=220

    and a few almonds=80

as well as a gallon of water, bringing me to 1,200 calories today with 45 minutes of cardio and 90 minutes of Yoga.
  • Wow, Yogini ... that's really dedicated of you to bring your own stuff to a restaurant. I hope the little ol' ladies pick up some pointers from you.

I blew my Thanksgiving challenge, but quite unexpectedly I ended up back on track.

Oh, Girrrrrrrrrl, as a vegan you get used to it. After countless episodes where there was:

    1) Nothing on the menu that was vegan
    2) An unwilling/baffled staff who would not accomodate me
    3) A staff who tried to accomodate me but screwed it up (to the tune of me getting ill )

...I finally decided that I better just eat before or bring my own food. So I do

Glad you are back on track!
  • Lost Another Pound - but really overdid it tonight
Weigh-in - lost another pound Then we had our TOPs dinner and I ate too much...had fish, but also had muffins (3) and ice cream sunday. Then went to anoother meeting where there was dessert and had a brownie!! Well, back to reality tomorrow!!

    Lyn
  • Hey Lyn, just get right back on program tomorrow! I have weigh-in Wednesday and so far (I couldn't help it and weighed myself at the gym tonight) I am down a pound. We'll see what happens!
  • Well, I taught a yoga class this morning and planned on lifting weights afterwards but ended up just coming home instead. I'll go to the gym later and make up for it

I had soup again for breakfast/brunch:

Cabbage, carrots, leeks, tomatoes, veggie juice as the broth, potatoes, spices and blackeyed peas=300

I plan on having the following later:

    Steamed broccoli=100

Fresh veggie juice (the usual beets, carrots, celery, cucumber)=200

    1 LARGE, juicy pear=120

    1 serving Vanilla Vitasoy complete=80

    Baked tempeh=200

    Steamed kohlrabi=100

    1 T. of Udo's Oil=100 (I'm adding in FAT!!!)

and a gallon of water...that's it for today! I *WILL* get to the gym for 10 minutes on the eliptical and then 30 minutes of weight training!

Weigh in is tomorrow and then to the TOPS Christmas party! I'm thinking I'll make an Asian-themed lunch to take with Spring rolls, potsticker dumplings, a sweet and sour tamarind date dipping sauce, a soba noodle salad with baked tofu, cabbage, bok choy, carrots and green onions and a treat for dessert too! Maybe a fruit cobbler with cashew cream! (not Asian, but yummy!).
  • Hey there,

I didn't do so well on my Thanksgiving challenge, so I'm a little shy about committing to another. I've averaged my weight loss over the past two months, and I've lost 1.4 pounds a week. So if I continue at that rate, I'd lose about 3 pounds before Christmas. I'll probably lose more, but I might have another bad spell where I regain some back.

My food choices today have been:

    B - 1 banana
L - large romaine salad with chicken, strawberries, mandarin oranges
    S - 2 mini-candy canes
    D - 3 or 4 small meatballs with spaghetti sauce and 1 c pasta, 1 salad with ~1T dressing, 1 glass milk

Yogini, fruit cobbler with cashew cream? That sounds fabulous!
  • Phantastica, 1.4 pounds a week is nothing to be discouraged about that is a healthy loss

So, today is my TOPS Christmas party...I had NO trouble putting together a noce gift but the "White Elephant" gift wasn't easy! I wasn't able to go shopping and have LOTS of stuff around the house (new stuff I have in stock such as natural body care etc.) the issue is, I simply don't have useless stuff to give! So, I chose to give a "funny" gift instead. I have natural hemmorhoid cream and a lice shampoo kit and may give both Do you think they'll see the humor? The other option was an Anne Rice erotic series (written under her pen name, A.L. Roquelere <spelling???>) and I think the grannies might at least actually be able to use the cream and shampoo at some point so they won out

I am making the soba noodle/potsticker/veggie/spring roll combo but have no baked tofu or cobbler with cashew cream

I'll make it another time (and yes, it is GOOD!).

I teach a new Yoga class today! That's exciting I'll take a class this evening too and it's one I look forward to. I'll also get in 45 minutes of cardio today. I'll post later with what I eat.

    Wish me luck at weigh-in!

Have a great day ladies, make every choice count!
  • Yogini, I don't have many useless things to give, either. Anything that comes in our house that is useless is usually donated to Salvation Army. I'll probably have a handful of useless things to give after Christmas, though. I hope they see the humor in the lice and hemmorhoid treatments.

Today a coworker gave me a Ritter candy bar for a Christmas present. I, of course, devoured it. Before I devoured the whole thing, though, I looked at the label to make sure I wouldn't go over my "discretionary calories" today. 210 - no problem. I ate the whole bar, then realized I forgot to check serving size. 2 2/3 servings per bar! 500 calories for 5 minutes of chocolate fun. Jeez.

    Today's menu:

    B - banana
    S - 500 calories of chocolate
    L - pasta salad
    D - 4 oz chicken + 1 c mashed potatoes/gravy + ½ c refried beans
  • I LOVE Ritter chocolates! They make a dark chocoloate covered hazelnuts one I can eat MMM!

Well, I am down another 2.5 pounds! I had a good time at the party too. I ate what I brought and now have about 800 calories left for the rest of the day I might just have to treat myself to some chocolate or oven fries
  • Welcome back to Phantastica and Good Going, Yogini
Glad to see someone's posting these days Nice job, Yogini!! ! You are doing an incredible job. I am taking a yoga class after work and it's gotten hard. I find my balance is not really great. But I can feel it today! Phantastica, too bad about those 500 cals. But yoou'll work it off, I'm sure.

Its very cold here in NYS. We had about 3 inches of fluffy snow today and its in the 20s Brrrrr
  • Yogini, did your white-elephant gift go over well?

B - 1 mug of chai, coffee with cream (I know I should eat something but I'm just not that pulled together right now)
    L - 1 c brown rice + 4 oz ground turkey + 1 c canned tomatoes and mushrooms
S - a piece of beef jerky, 1 c middle-eastern salad (tomatoes, onion, cucumber, pickles)
    D - 4 oz chicken + refried beans
    S - 2 pc bread + 3 oz cheese + 1 nut goodie bar
  • Phantastica, the way the gifts were done, no one knew who brought what (although some people spoke up and said "That was from me!" etc.) but YES! It went over really well and everyone had a good laugh...I only put in the lice removal kit and the organizer of the exchange said "Now THAT'S a GOOD white elephant gift!"

I got a silly singing lobster! I was sitting at the head of the table, there were 26 of us and 3 booths were occupied by other patrons and they were laughing along with all of us as we opened our gifts. When I opened my gift everyone thought it was funny...but it got funnier! I turned it off and it kept on singing! It wouldn't stop! It was hilarious Several people tried and couldn't get it to shut off either...the kicker is, the battery door was SCREWED shut! Eventually, it stopped singing "Rock the Boat" and "Do Wah Diddy".
