Thinking of Joining TOPS

I've been thinking about joining TOPS. I went to the website and found some local meetings. I emailed the co-ordinator and asked a bunch of question...just waiting for her to respond back now.

Do any of you have the Nutrition Assistant? Do you like or hate it? Is it really helpful to you? I am thinking of getting it if I do indeed join TOPS.

Here's a little intro of myself....

I am Jen(31 almost 32), single mom of Katy(7¾) and Christian(4¾). In Ontario Canada. I have been overweight all of my life but am at my all time highest. I can't believe I have let myself get this way. I am 5'4" and weigh 290 lbs. Anyhow I have made a deal with myself to get my butt into gear and lose this unwanted weight and become a healthy individual. I am also going to see my doctor this coming Friday and will talk about this with her as well. I've been to TOPS meetings in the past(a very long time ago...I think it was around 6-7yrs ago, not that long after my daughter was born) and I just don't think I was really eager enough to lose the weight then and I ended up quitting. I hope to join and stick with it this time.

Welcome Jen!...

What a nice family you have. I have some very dear friends that have a down syndrome child too and he is so precious. I just love him to death.

Thanks for sharing a little bit about you and your family and also your weight struggles. I am currently reading a book by TOPS called "Inspired To Lose" and I am really finding it helpful.

Would love to see more posts from you so that we can encourage each other.

I weigh about 211 lbs. and want to be at 170 lbs. in 9 months or so as that is when I celebrate my 20 year wedding anniversary with dh and we are taking a professional portrait for that event. My final goal weight is 140 lbs. I would like to reach that final goal by early to mid 2006.

I'm new here too, but everyone has been so helpful and friendly.

Hi,
KNCmamma, It's nice to have you here with us. I've been in TOPS for 2 years. I've found it to be a great orginazation and it's been very helpful to me to have a weekly meeting to go to. I also enjoy the magazine that you get monthly with your memberships. I don't have the Nutrition Assistant, but if you are thinking it would be helpful to you, by all means, get it.

I think that you would benefit greatly from the support that you get at the meetings. It's nice to be a part of a group with a common goal; you know, someone who has been were you are and understands and can share ideas on how to overcome the struggles that we have with weightloss.

It's nice to have you with us here also. I get so much support and inspiration from this boads; it has kept me going many times when I just felt like giving up.

Looking forward to getting to know you more.

Susie

I am so excited...

Thanx ladies for the welcomes...

I am so excited to say that I am going to check out a Chapter meeting this coming Friday morning. I so can't wait...just like waiting for Christmas day all over again... :D

lbsbgone and Penny(mompen)...

That is so great that both of you have been touched by someone whom has Down Syndrome. I have learned so much since having my son almost 5yrs ago. My little man is so smart and he is definitely just like any other child...full of energy and that gung-ho spirit ready to try anything and challenge everyone. Both my kids certainly are the joys of my life and what keep me going.

Hi Jen!

It sounds like you are going to do awesome!!!
That is wonderful!

My youngest son has a kidney disorder and I know about learning about others with the same gifts! I know that all the child of the world that have some type of gift are always soooo strong, brave, and caring!

Anyhow,
I wish you the best of luck and can't wait to hear how the meeting goes!

GOOD LUCK!
