  • You are so dedicated Yogi.... I love all the veggies too and have never tried to give up meat but stick to chicken, turkey and fish most of the time..... I do one day a week with no meat, and I have to admit, I feel really good on those days.... Keep up the good work I weigh in tonite, not looking for a miracle, but planning to get back on the beach ( already am) and quit fooling with the weight.... I really am comitted to making my goal by next July... India ( keep your fingers crossed )
  • India, thanks for the encouragement Every little bit helps! (and reminds me to NOT buy potato chips, my PMS nemesis ).

You and I have close to the same goals (at this point...I may decide to lose more, who knows?) and I intend to make mine by Summertime too! I think it's great that you go meatless once a week and that you feel good on that day

I'll think thin thoughts for you and your weigh-in

Phantastica, keep up the good work, staying with your plan
  • Tuesday Menu
    B - 2 sausage/egg/cheese McGriddles + potato cake + large coke
    S - 1 venti pumpkin-spice latte + 1 pc lemon poppyseed loaf
L - 1 double barbecue bacon cheeseburger + large fries with melted cheese + strawberry shake + french silk pie
    S - mini-donuts + 1 pc pizza
    D - Famous Dave's ribs + 2 cornbreads + mashed potatoes/gravy + coleslaw + 4 glasses of wine

OK, so that's not really my plan. That's what I *want* to do, because I am an emotional eater and I'm mad because after a week of restraining myself from a full-on binge, I still managed to gain ¾ of a pound. Maybe this is payback for two weeks ago, when I had a baaad weekend right before weighing in, yet didn't gain weight that week.

Anyway, here's my real Tuesday Menu:

    B - 1 pumpkin-spice muffin (170 cal) + 8 oz milk + ½ c spiced apples (½ T butter, brown sugar)
    L - 2 c leftover homemade chicken-noodle soup (255 cal) + 2½ c lettuce + 1 T red-pepper dressing + 2 saltines + 1 small tomato
    S - 1 skim mocha
    D - 1 enchilada + 1 tamale + ½ basket of chips + salsa and white sauce + 1 big margarita

    lotsa water

DS and I went out to dinner tonight. We we both in the mood for Mexican, it was the first snow of the season, and I was POed about weigh-in (but also, I figured we'd be going out to eat once this week, might as well make it sooner than later).
  • Tomorrow I plan on having the following:

    1 Zen Bakery Bran Cake
    12 oz. Soy Yogurt Drink

3 cups Fresh veggie juice (carrot, celery, cucumber, beet, lemon)

3 cups Arugula, romaine, spinach, chickpea, tomato and garlic as a salad w/Balsamic Dressing

3 cups Red kuri squash, celery, carrots, leeks, red cabbage, onions, garlic and herbs with 2/3 cup brown rice

    A gallon of water

Total: about 1,000 calories, 60 grams of fiber and 50 grams of protein
  • Yogini
That's a lot of fiber!!! My goal is 25 gr. /day.

    Phantastica,

It's ok to be mad ..just let it go and keep on truckin Good menu plan!
  • Thanks for the encouragement.. we had a really fun meeting last night... the auction was a lot of fun,.... actually, they drew my name for almost everyone of the different items, from soup to fresh pear coffee cake ( which I won) I had to decline atleast 3, so others could take home a "prize"... we registered 3 new members, was a full circle last night... Lyn did great and ofcourse I gained.... I have to admit, I am feeling a bit down today.... whine whine lol... I just have to try harder this week.... Yogi, I cant claim pms, maybe its post menopausal pms, lol... everyone have a great day........India

That's a lot of fiber!!! My goal is 25 gr. /day.
Yes, it *is* a lot and even more than I usually get in (about 25 grams more) but I am trying to combat the PMS bloat and associated issues with extra fiber. I weighed myself at work today and I was 1/4 a pound less than last week I sure hope I don't "Turtle" tomorrow! I want a consistent loss and I have been eating so well, except on Sunday (when I still ate well, really, just differnet than usual) and I kept within my caloric limits them, even! I am being hard on myself about not losing more
  • I am feeling frustrated

I ate extremely well 6 out of 7 days and even on that one day, I stayed with my calorie/water/exercise limits, I have been exercising and weight training but it looks like I may have GAINED! I weighed myself at work today and I showed a 1/4 pound loss and then at the other gym tonight, I was 2 pounds up!

It's either water weight or muscle that has caused me to not lose this week; either way I am disappointed that I most likely won't show a loss at my weigh in this morning and will instead show a gain I KNOW that the habit changes I have made are what counts, and the fact that I feel so much better since I've been taking better care of myself, but I really wanted to show a loss! Could it be I am not getting enough calories? I have been cutting corners...actually getting close to 1200 calories on most days, eating more of lower calorie foods and giving DH or DD my "higher" calorie foods, like the 1/2 "Chik" sandwich I planned on eating...I also did not have the hemp protein and OJ I planned on eating, and instead added more veggies.
  • I had the same experience this week. I was thinking my gain was a delayed response to a completely off-plan weekend two weeks ago. I'm not sure how many calories you have to cut in order to trick the body into thinking it's being starved.
  • yogini- It is water weight I am up 2 pounds this week so far and PMS has EVERYTHING to do with it

phantastica- I love the first menu you posted the other day...I have had days where it would have felt good to just write it down and not eat it

As for me my phone service went down on account of the storms in our area, sorry I missed everyone...and thanks for starting the thread this week It sure pays to have such good friends

    Todays plan is...
B- 2 eggs and 1 slice ww toast
L- beef patty and green beans
S- baked chicken, green beans, and baked beans (vegetarian)
Lots of green tea to get rid of this water weight
  • Wednesday Menu
    B - 1 big-a$$ scone + 1 coffee w/whole milk
L - 1 bacon cheeseburger + order of fries (meeting former coworkers for lunch)
    S - 1 fa-la-latte (eggnog-flavored latte) + 1 dulce de leche scone-over
    D - 1 leftover chicken enchilada + 2 oz fish + 1 serving squash + 2 c salad + 2 t fat-free dressing
    S - 1 turtle muffin + 1 hot dog

Glad to see you back, Christie! I wondered what happened to you. I just read in a different TOPS thread that in one person's group they gave a "shower" to anyone who obtained KOPS status! I thought that was such a wonderful idea. I hope your group did a big celebration for you. I'm going to suggest that idea to my group.

Good Gawd. Express your anger through food, Phantastica.
  • Thanks for the support, Phantastica and Christian. I am not going to let this get me down too much; it's only my stubbornness and pride that makes me feel like I HAVE to show a loss every week (I am REALLY hard on myself). I am doing a program today and will focus on helping others with the info I'll be sharing and by showing up, I can show that success shows itself in many forms, not just a scale change! On the bright side, I should have a big loss next week, once the water weight is gone
  • OK, I learned a lesson today - I eat when I'm mad. I'm having a hissy fit about being good last week yet still gaining, and I'm acting out against my own body.
