good afternoon
tops meetings are about support. Generally what goes on in a meeting is weigh in, roll call- tell name and if you lost or gained, a secretary report (what happened the week before) a treasury report(finances), and a program usually is something about weight loss, fitness, encouragement, goal setting, maybe recipe exchange, cooking classes. You have incentives for loosing weight, I don't know all of them. Some clubs have a 50/50 raffle, you can win charms, have a walking club, do things in your chapter that helps you, and your fellow members. Work together to reward ourselves when we reach a goal. Tops is a nonprofit organization. You pay dues, but the dues are used for incentives, and the needs of the chapter. You have a leader, co-leader,treasurier, sec., weight recorder, an assistant weight recorder. These are people that are all members of your chapter. They aren't getting paid to do the job. Nothing wrong with getting paid to do this type of job, but these are people just like you trying to change their life, within your chapter. Your chapter is what your group of people decide it to be. The cost for US is $20 a year which is paid to the main office for membership(you get a monthy tops mag with this), your monthly dues is what is decided upon in your chapter, cannot be more than $5. and whatever else the group does. Games, ect. Our chapter sometimes goes to baseball games, and other outings. You have a goal weight that you and your doctor sets. Doesn't have to be right when you join. How you achieve your weight loss is up to you (and your doctor). Exchanges is recommended by tops, however so people do low carb, ect. I am co-leader this year, and I get a lot of my information from the internet. I share whatever I can with my chapter. We want everyone to lose weight. The one thing about Tops that I have found, it's a family. When you work together like that it helps you reach new hights. The ladies on this board are awesome, they come up with ideas and encouragement, sometimes not always what we want to hear, but what we need to hear. I hope this has helped you. I hope you become a TOPS member, it's a lot of fun.
