Saturday

The weekend is here again. Hope everyone has something nice planned for themselves. I am going to meet my friend I met at SRD for lunch. We try to get together every few weeks. We live about 2 hours away from each other so we meet half way.
Claire As far as starting a thread. Anyone is welcome to start a thread. You are one of us now. The only rule we have is that we support each other and continue to let each other know we care.
Thru thick and thin, thru losses and gains.
You did great passing on the party. I probably wouldn't have been able to do it
I have been doing good and hope I can keep it up. I actually won one of the baskets for loser of the week. It has been a long time since that has happened.
Our leader who had stapling only lost 2# this week. She is getting discouraged as after her first large loss she is now only losing around 2#. Her doc told her that was normal. At our Christmas party she ate 2 saltines and drank so water. I would not want to live like that.
Summer I am glad you are going out with hubby. I know you don't get to do that too much. I know you will enjoy having Heather home
Well I have to get busy before I head out. I have a counter that is a magnet for everything and I wanted to get it cleared off and see what it looks like when it is not piled high with stuff.
Hope everyone has a great day. I know I did not address each person but you are in my thoughts.

Eleni, way to go on the loss!! I am so proud of you! And happy for you. Oh, man, this is great news! (Can you feel my happiness vibes coming at you?) What are you doing for a plan?

I am in agreement with you on the stapling, I really think there are usually underlying emotional issues that MUST be addressed before anyone can truly embark on a successful weight loss program. No pill, shake or surgery addresses that need. In my case I had to look at self esteem and loneliness. TOPS dovetailed nicely by allowing me to meet lots of new and interesting people and the positive re-enforcement I received from my group has really improved my self image.

I agree tho, that I get the most support from this board.

Clare, really enjoyed your post, you sound like an interesting and upbeat kinda girl, welcome aboard!

My Mom comes tommorrow!

Well, I have to run

{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{vibes }}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}

Hi all!

Thanks so much for making me feel so welcome!!! You all are so laid-back and just doing things in the right way -- not continually "starting over", but picking up and going forward. I admire that!

My DH works for a HUGE corporation and we went to their Christmas Dinner last night. It was a buffet, and the food was not good at all. I had some dessert after dinner and let it go at that.

I would like to put in my two cents worth about WLS (weight loss surgery). Unless the patient is willing to change their eating habits, the surgery is doomed to failure. If the habit of putting the wrong (or too much) food in one's mouth isn't corrected, no amount of surgery is going to help because it doesn't address the real problem.

I'd considered it, then read as much as I could. Knowing how my food problem works told me that the surgery would not help. Once I get in control of why the wrong stuff gets TO my mouth, the weight loss is easy. For me, they'd have to staple my mouth, not my stomach :D

Treated myself to a Richard Simmons Lose Weight and Celebrate kit I found on ebay for $20. I've always liked his videos (at 280 or so pounds, his videos are some of the few gentle enough not to "do me in" before I see results  ) and the FoodMover echoes both the old Weight Watchers Exchange program (which worked very well for me) and the American Diabetic Association exchange program. I have to write down or note what I eat or I simply don't remember. Between this forum and my meetings, I can easily stay on track.

Again, thanks for the thumbs-up. It meant volumes!

Hi everyone,

I am so glad to be back. I was not physically missing just had no power (so no internet). :?:

We had winds that were just over 60 MPH so of course our little island lost all of its power. Thank goodness we have a woodstove.

Of course I didn't eat properly in that 24 + hours, but I did eat as little as possible. It is hard to cook on a woodstove when you also have no water so your choices are limited, but that is over now. Thank you!!

I am back on track today and will be able to stay there for the rest of the weekend.

Just picked up another housecleaning job so that will give me a little less time to sit and think of food. LOL I actually prefer doing commercial jobs, but the island is so small that you just can't be choosy. I lucked in with the 2 commercial contracts that I have. All of the others have been held by the same people for so long that whenever they do come up for bid most people don't even bother. That is how I managed to get the 2 I have, because I figure that eventually they decision makers will decide that it is time for someone new.

anyway I hope everyone is doing well today and I'll check back later or tomorrow if the power holds.

Good evening Today has been a good day. Had a nice lunch with my friend and we exchanged Christmas gifts. Then came home and went and got my nails done. Had a christmas design put on two nails. Looks cool. Then we went to Greek town for supper. Looked in some of shops for a dress but no luck. Hard to find large sizes. When I do lose this weight I will have to get a second job to pay for clothes I plan on buying.
Bev--You brought back memories when you talked about the wood stove. I lived in NC for several years when kids were small and for a long time all I had was a wood cookstove. I even did all my canning on it. Boy am I glad those days are gone.:D
Someone asked what plan I was using. Just plain ole eat less and move more. Also try to eat low fat and low calories. I sorta make it up as I go. Read a lot about healthy eating etc. It seems to be working.
You can change where it says member and put your own saying. I changed mine to Mother Hen.
Well,It is time to go watch tv.
I brought the bios thread up. Please post on it if you haven't yet. Don't forget to put your birthday. Just the month and day.
Good night

Eleni,

I am glad you had a great time with your friend today. Just look at you go girl. You are actually doing things for you. How does it feel to pamper yourself? I think it is great. Must be the meds are working better for you. I am so glad that you are doing so well. I know you are really working at it and it is showing. Congratulations on the great loss and winning loser of the week. That is a great thing isn't it. I haven't won that in a long time. I am sure you were so happy to win over the leader that had the surgery. I know how you feel about that and I am still with you. See it can be done the old fashioned way. We just have to give it our all and do what we know to do and stick with it. I know you can do it and you are. Keep up the great work. I am sure the nails look great.

Myne,

That is so neat that you clean houses. I used to do that and I gave up all my houses but 2 of them. I kept them and I am working the part time job also. I really enjoyed doing the cleaning when I was only doing it. But I also like to be able to work here from home and not go out to work everyday also. That is why I gave them up.
I am glad that you got your power back so you could come and join us again. It must have been hard to do everything with the woodstove with no water. Do you have snow yet? Did you use that for your water? At least you could have used it for something.LOL
I know you will get back on track. You were doing great and you will have a great week this week I just know it.

Waterbaby,

Sounds like you really didn't have a good time at the party. I am sorry for that. But it is great that you are treating yourself to the richard simmons. I used to work out with him every morning at 6 am when he was on tv. I like exercising with him.
I agree with you about the surgery also. I also feel that if we don't change our ways and habits then nothing will help in the end as far as the weightloss goes. I personally wouldn't want to have to eat like an infant for the rest of my life. If I want to indulge from time to time at least I can.
I liked your picture by the way it was great. I loved the overalls.

Sherri,

We get very little snow here. has to do with the Rocky's and being on the west of them. We sure do lots of rain though!! I had a couple of milk jugs with water that I used when it was necessary to flush the toilet.
