Where are my TOPS girls?

This forum is dormant!

So, after a week of pretty decent choices, I experienced a one-pound loss. It was a little disheartening, but I'm not going to sweat it. Or, perhaps I should be sweating it more than I am - ha ha.

I am the weight recorder in my group. Whenever someone steps on the scale, it's either "yay, I lost" or "oops, I gained" or "I stayed the same" and that's that. There is one person in my group who gets overly frustrated every week. She pretty much hovers within the same 5 pounds every week since she started (maybe 6 months ago?). So when she gains, she says, "Well, I weighed in at home today and it said I weighed two pounds less!" She has no understanding that each scale can be different, and that weight can fluctuate throughout the day. If it's not that, say says, "HOW could I have gained?" and looks at me like I'm supposed to have an answer! I just don't know what to say to her. I'm tempted to say, "Look, I feel uncomfortable when you begin to question me about why you gained."

We've talked to her about water retention. We've asked her if she's monitoring her calories and journaling her food - yes. We've suggested she bring in her food journal so we can help her assess where she's going wrong, but she hasn't done that.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks

Sounds like you are doing all you can do. Tell her about 3fatchicks or maybe not, she might recognize herself by your description.

Oh Christie, it gets better. I missed last week, but I guess she vented on everybody about WHY SHE IS NOT LOSING WEIGHT. I think the only thing to do is to suggest she see a nutritionist.

Sounds like that would be a good idea, ay least then she would know why  Good luck in getting her to go to one ;)

I was reading your posts on the lady that couldnt lose.. I have a lady in my group that couldnt get the weight off.. she was a petite woman with just a few pounds to go.. She took a class put on by a local nutritionist and leanred the secrets of weight loss resistance... Sometimes its not what we eat.. its the combinations and timing.. Having your lady work with a dietician is a good idea... Barb...

There are some prettty good answers to this post above, I'd ask again that she bring h-in her diet sheets. If she doesn't comply, you'll have to tell her that you can't answer the question for her. She sounds like she's in a bit of denial to me... but then what do I know? :)
