My biggest challenge for the day is to drink WATER. I have such a hard time with water when it is cold out. I rarely touched diet soda either. Know I HAVE to drink or I get kidney stones, water retention and the scale goes up. Maybe I can get in some herbal tea with splenda today too.

Lovely new ads...NOT. Like it isn't hard enough to get these pages to load, now we are redirected to ads before the page pops in. Sheesh.

Anyhoo....

My Fresh Start started TODAY. Enough holiday madness. Are we going to have a new challenge for the New Year? Leave breadcrumbs if it happens!

Kaylets 12-28-2006 05:45 AM

So many thoughts running parallel to mine.....

Water, yes, sometimes an issue... Hot decaf tea or even..... believe it or not.....
just hot water w/ splenda.....learned it from a young coworker.....

Getting back on a new path...yes....

Starting day 1 again.... Enough said.... it was a mighty dive off the wagon!!

New challenge for 2007...yes, sounds grand. Anyone have any royal thoughts???

Chilly here, need to warm up the cars as I'm packing lunches......

Let the trumpets sound..... Today is the day!

'Tis quite mild and comfy still for walking. I don't believe that will last too much longer, and I need to explore new cardio avenues. Skipping isn't a major choice...I can only hop 38 times in a row thus far. I've become less co-ordinated in my old age! Any suggestions?

Yup...new starts. I didn't do badly this year, but I have a little "recovery" to do before proceeding...just 3 pounds, way better than last year (15) but still some!

OK...gotta go!

Have a great day all!

Kaylets 12-29-2006 05:20 AM

Ok, here we go Friday, here we go!!

Don't know if sugar is adding to my reaction to stress of vice versa but I sure would feel lots better if I could get more than a few hours behind me.....

So, Day 1 begins again.....
No sugar!

We can do this!!!

Friday dawns in the Palace

K, maybe we're past dawn now, getting on for 10. It's been nice not having that 5 a.m. alarm in the mornings this week. I'm starting to recover from my head cold. Don't know where the time goes, though. I want at least another month off. I'm dreaming of... retirement! (Don't tell me, Anagram, that time still seems to be an issue? No, seriously -- I mean DON'T tell me, even if it's true!)

I've been continuing with near-daily weigh-ins and was up 2.2 Wednesday morning. Truly not substance, though. This morning I'm only up 1.4 from ticker and am sure to be down to ticker or lower by official WI on Monday. On Christmas -- and to a lesser extent on Boxing Day -- I pretty much just had what I wanted. I made chocolate cinnamon rolls, which we had with lattes w/ Bailey's during the gift opening. And so on... But, as they always say one (or even two) days aren't going to cause a problem. Nevertheless, I know if I wasn't paying attention I could undo the progress I've made in no time. Not gonna do it!

I'm down 30 pounds from last January. We're going out dancing again NY Eve (also our 12th wedding anniversary). The outfit I wore last year is way too droopy. I'm going to go see if I can find a festive top to wear. I don't feel like wearing a dress but I'd like to be a little splashy.

We had the sing-along Messiah yesterday and I did okay, despite not having practiced :o It was fun and I really WILL practice. Going to start soon for next year so I'll be ready. Of course, choir practice starts again soon and we'll have new music to learn, too.

Anagram, bittersweet is the absolute best way Christmas could have been. I think we need to feel the pain with the joy for full experience -- how could it be otherwise, when everything is touched by the knowledge of your loss? When someone close to us goes, it's a different world. And when it's someone as integral as your darling, it takes a long time to reconfigure.

WSW, love -- I hope you're feeling better! Take great and gentle care of your own sweet self!

Kaylets, you'll be solidly off the sugar again in no time! Sugar really is the devil -- why must it be so SWEET!

Ceara, I admire you for skipping! I bought a rope and started with it but 38 is WAY beyond what I could get to. And it was a little too hard on my feet. I do want to take it up again at some point, though. So good for coordination and even doing 38 a day would be a real boost to the system. I remember a while back a study saying that a single minute of all-out cardio had huge benefits.

Flower, I have a hard time with the water when I feel sick for some reason. Just the time that I need it the most  I can always hear my mom's voice in my head, though: Force fluids!

Wildfire, yup, let's think about a new challenge for the new year...

Must be off -- going to give DS a ride to work and pop in to look for a new blouse...

Love to all -- let's make this a good one!

ceara 12-30-2006 08:15 AM

Saturday dawns....DH is playing with the heathens and their mother by the sounds of things over my head....sounds more like 1 big and 2 small elephants up there, not 3 bouviers!

Arabella, you have done so well this year...that loss is a major accomplishment in itself! You should be very proud of YOU!

I have a brekkie date with the Barbershop quartet I work with this am...so I need to boogey! And apparently there is not a lot of food in the house....wah! No one knows how to buy milk, or oatmeal I guess. So I've got stuff to do.

1 more  for me and I'm back to my ticker too. Only 3  short term visitors for me this year....that is a major accomplishment for me! I didn't go "hog-wild" literally at the holidays. I count that as a major accomplishment!

Have a great day ladies....

Arabella 12-30-2006 09:03 AM

Good morning!

Bright and sunny here, but COLD! I took myself for a walk round the harbour. Canada geese haven't migrated yet but they may be regretting that now.

We've got to go out to do the shopping and then I intend to take it easyish the rest of the day. I've got a few tasks left to get done for work that -- natch! -- I haven't attended to until the last possible minute. :dz: Ah well. Necessity is the mother of gittin' er done.

I had a few rice crackers last night -- fat-free and low cal but I think they have MSG in them. And I swear, they went directly to my thighs. Let this be a lesson to me!

Ceara, I KNOW! "They" never notice when things are getting low. Probably my fault for making sure we rarely actually run out. But I HATE not to have milk for my coffee!

Oh, that is a major accomplishment -- not going "hog wild." It can take so long to get back on track! Kudos!

Oof oof and away...

Life sometimes just gets in the way doesn't it? Hubby has a job interview on Thursday. The thing is is it is in Florida not NV. He is leaving on Wed. He is planning on staying out there til I sell the house. Or at least 2 months. If he doesn't get this job, he looks for another. (We have a good "in" so we "think" it is a gaurentted job. ) He needs to find us a place to live down there as well. This week we have been doing fix it jobs and cleaning, sorting and tossing. Took me 8 hours to do my son's bedroom yesterday. He is 6 and the biggest slob in the world! Okay, I may take that back, there was no food in there, but everything was a mess. I donated a lot. Sorting the lego bin took most of my time. I am soooo stiff today!

Arabella 01-01-2007 02:13 PM

Happy New Year!

And, for sure, this year we shall be svelte! Huzzah!

We danced until 2 a.m. -- no mean feat (oh dear, pun unintended :o ) for folks who are usually snoring by 9:30. But it was good to get out and celebrate. We also had an impromptu dinner party for 10, which was kind of nuts but worked out fine.

Flower -- WOW! Was that as out-of-the blue as it sounds? I mean, we were sending job vibes, sure, but we never mentioned anything about Florida!

I'm tired today -- how beist the rest of the Queenlies? I'm off to drop off some books for a friend's mom who's physically incapacitated. And drop off a couple of items that people left here last night. Dinner tonight will be leftovers, for which again I say "Huzzah!"

Let's get this year started!

Wildfire 01-01-2007 06:43 PM

Happy New Year, fellow Royals!

We stayed in and had a quiet night, much like the last several years. I made some of DH's favorite snacks, we watched a movie, and were in bed by 12:30. This morning the tree and all the decorations were down and boxed and put away by noon. Nothing like a neat, clean, back to normal living room to say "fresh start"!

Tomorrow I am back to the gym on a regular basis, watching my diet more carefully, and intend to say "Au revoir" to 10lbs by Valentine's Day! :trampo:

Yikes, Flower! That's quite a move, especially with four kids in tow! Got everything crossable crossed that your DH will land this job. :crossed:

Arabella, you party animal! :dancer:

flower 01-01-2007 07:55 PM

We pretty much depleted the job market in our town. Neither of us wanted to commute. We have had single didget temps for a month now and we said enough is enough. His mom is in Florida, so it isn't as far fetched as it seems. I didn't want to go back "home" to LV. Wanted a new adventure.

Kaylets 01-02-2007 04:45 AM

Hello all....

This weekend DH worked both Sat and Sun. I worked Sat and then did lots of errands Sun.
By noonish Sun, DH was finished so we went to a TexMex place that serves vegetarian for lunch. Then, I needed a nap and DH decided the same when.

Later, we ate big bowls of pea/aspargus soup as we watched the second 1/2 of the movie "Streets of Laredo" and then I was in bed before 9. We
had lots and lots of rain so I didnt even realize folks still set fireworks off at midnight.

I brought home lots of stuff to do from the job but never did it. And is away, I'm glad I didnt.

Flower! Sending lots of good interview vibes for DH. Nothing like selling a house for motivation to clean!!
DH and did similar once upon a move ourselves..... It wasn't nearly as far and we didnt have to sell a house but it was because DH interviewed and started a job in less than a month.

Its been nearly 2.5 days without sugar .....hopefully no one will bring in any party leftovers..... So many folks have the flu our way that I'd be able to resist just wondering if the cook had the sniffles.....

......

Yes, WoodNymph, 30 lbs lost in a year is tremendous! Well done!

And to all my Royal Friends....

Happy New Year!

I'm going in very early today....

Happy New Year! :cheer:

We too had a quiet New Year's Eve. Dh and I played cards with my friend and her significant other. Too much wine and I watched the nibbles. Yesterday spent the day reading and trying to resist chocolates. They won. Today is a new day though. Am off shortly for a walk.

Flower....that is a long move! Hope things go well for your DH.

I always knew you have some wild in you Arabella! Most wood nymphs do! They appear so quiet....how did the singing go?

Well Kaye...I have the opposite. My Dh has been on vacation since the first week in December...and he starts back today...on afternoons. A bit more normal. The good news is that we made it undivorced!

'K, gotta get going. Make it a great one y'all! to Anagram, wsw, Punkin, Wildfire And all MIA :queen:

Fresh start Tuesday!

Good morning, Lovelies! Grey and drizzly here but I suited up and took self for walk/slide (also icy!) around the harbour in the fog early this a.m. Must begin as one intends to carry on! It was kind of pretty, anyway.

Thanks to all that dancing, I'm way ahead on exercise already but I do want to get back into the yoga/meditation habit(s). Have resolved to do my set a bit at a time today. I'm tired! But a few exercises at a time won't hurt.

I'm going to employ the trick of making intentions "public" by printing them out and leaving them on the kitchen table for the checkity-checking. Reminder for self and more motivation to keep myself honest :s: Which can be a challenge.

Kaylets, I'm with you -- let's get that sugar out of our systems! Re: alarm clock -- ugh. Way too much -- it goes off at 5:10 each weekday morning. Thank goodness there are only 3 more of those this week :)

Ceara, WTG on being undivorced after nearly a month with DH home! I must admit I was starting to get a little cranky with mine after just a bit more than a week (mostly because of having to clean up after him). After he left for work this a.m. I sat down with coffee and newspaper for a half-hour before heading to salt mine. :coffee: Here's to keeping 'em working!

Wildfire, yes indeed, I had enough celebrations to do me for a little while. Love that trampoline smiley too. I've got some money that was left as MIL's last Christmas gift and am thinking a mini-tramper might be good to have. Fun and supposedly good for a lot of things besides weight loss :chin:

Flower, me too, keeping all crossable things crossed (sadly, a much longer list than used to be the case  )

Dovies, I must actually work, I suppose. Heigh-ho! Here we go 2007!
:cheer:
