Not that I've ever ever done a turkey but Shot's list made me understand why all the Martha's found humor in Lush's list. It's when you hate something SO MUCH you can divide one task into many parts.

DS has informed me it's his anniversary today so they are going to a restaurant before coming here. If you have two teenagers who may be using the same piece of bed furniture, do you make one sleep on the sofa at your house? I mean we only have two beds so no smart remarks.

Wabby 11-22-2006 04:04 PM

Hey! that turkey has his shirt on upside down........and no, my turkey is nothing to photograph. We're into taste, not presentation.

Yes, Peach, DS gets the couch.

I'm signing off for the long holiday weekend ---- youz cows play amongst yerselves, now.:happ3:

SugP 11-23-2006 03:13 PM

hungry for pumpkin pie

:thanks1: :thanks2: :happ3: cowies!!! Hope y'all have a fun time.

Peachy: Your house, your rules. I say stick one of 'em on the couch for sure.

I :running: outside for 45 mins yesterday. It was cold.

Kiwonk 11-24-2006 12:48 PM

Hope you all had a :thanks1: ! Ours was fun. Only 8 of us at dinner this time, but it was good to see DN who is going to be deployed to Iraq again soon. We ate ourselves silly. We ate so much that we sat motionless at the table for about half an hour after we were done before we even collected the plates. Unheard of! My cranberry sauce was so yummy, it makes my mouth water to think of it. Everything else was good too. Green bean bundles turned out well, thanks Sug.

DD and Bf ate with us at 1:00 PM, and later headed over to his house for another dinner at 5:00! Crazy kids. Of course, Dd can afford to eat that way -- she was sitting at the table after we had dessert (Oh my you don't even want me to describe that!); she had a half a glass of milk and she put a great big dollop of whipped cream in, stirred it around and drank it. She says "well, I've gotta eat more so I can fit into my jeans". Kid you not. I think we should all take up dancing. She dances her butt off. Literally.

Imagine: "eat more" = "fit into jeans" Sounds like some kind of fantasy world, doesn't it? :cloud9:

DH and DD did the shopping thing this morning, so I am blissfully hanging out on the puter. Perhaps I'll do a few dishes later, maybe walk the doggie in this beautiful weather. I heard a bird chirping last time I went outside. :dunno: I remember getting snowed in on Thanksgiving one year. Don't tell me there's no global warming! One of these days the only way to see snow will be this: :snowglo:

Later gators!

giggle.

I'm so childish.

It's great to have DD home, but she is mostly doing homework this weekend. She will be so glad when she is done with that computer course, it's not even funny. She seems to enjoy her other classes, but that programming class is a doozy. She will be spending most of the rest of the weekend on it. Next week however, she will be skipping some classes (she already wrote an essay in lieu of attending one of her classes) to work on the college musical. She is running the sound board for the production.

I'm tired. Goodnight.

Kiwi

Good for her. Forget computer programming - that girl belongs in the theatah!

Nothing going on here. Should be ironing but am aimlessly surfing the net instead.

Kiwonk 11-26-2006 12:07 PM

Hi kids!

My kiddo is off to school again. I will get to see her once before Christmas vacation, I think. Her Kathak dance class has an open house in 2 weeks, and do you think I would drive all the way down there to see it? Well, of course I would.

Hope you all had a good holiday weekend. Or just a good weekend. Or whatever. It is still beautiful weather here; a little chilly, but it looks more like late September than late November. Weird. And the lake is totally full to overflowing. Like it is in early spring. Maybe we just skipped winter this year :dizzy:

Kiwi

Cowpernia 11-26-2006 07:12 PM

I asked ds if he would join a dance group so I could come see him perform before Christmas. He said I could see him anyway. But doing what? Gracefully leaping around on a stage or gazing at a physics book?

He and LCP were here for days and it was wonderful. Both were so sweet and adorable and smart. They banter about math equations and proper usage of long words I never heard of. This girl will not keep him from his school work. She'll add to it.

Bagzz 11-26-2006 08:27 PM

wow!!!! i think that is so cool that ds found a woman who suits him that well----imagine bantering about math equations!!! impressive---glad you had a great visit with your kids -----what's sweeter than that!!!! i had a cool experience this evening----dd and one of my best friends and i were out on a walk along the trail that runs along the Bay of Fundy and SOMEONE !!!! has found a way to light a christmas tree overlooking the ocean!!! i have no idea where the electricity is coming from ---but to see that sweet tree with the ocean in the background---it was magical~~~!!!!!! one more thing---i am in love with this tv commericial and then dd found the entire song for me----if anyone wants to see it---it's so cute-----------the commericial is at

That is so nice. Pretty cool when kids have the good luck or good sense to find people who will enhance their lives! It's the same with DD; bf was over here Saturday commiserating with her while she did her dreaded computer lab, then she went back to his house to help him with a music theory assignment--he needed to record a vocal counterpoint part, so she sang it for him.

Glad you had such a nice holiday weekend!

Hi Bagzie, that is really neat about the tree. I'll bet there are battery operated lights you can use for something like. Somebody's very creative!

How Now pretty cows

Peachie: How Adorable ... I get a mental picture of that cute couple who star in "Numb3rs" Such smarties! I could have really used their brain cells yesterday... I had to do a bunch of math crap.. formulas involving square roots and algebra.. All hail Wikipedia for helping me member how to do this stuff...

Bagz... You live in such a cool place! The commercial is cute...but I couldnt get to the song.. cant wait to see pics of the shop!!!!

Kiwi: programming :fr: that takes a certain kinda person ... I took Java and had to program a tic tac toe game... Exxxcruciating!!! Painful!!!! The most "fun" I had was selecting the colors for my X's and Os...

Wabby--did you get all this snow I see on the mornin news??? They say that WA and OR got a blizzzzzard!!!!!

Sug: Has the holiday baking begun yet????

Thanksgiving was quiet... I hate that about living so far from family... but, DH had me make a 20 pound turkey --as he loves leftovers...I drank a bottle of wine and paid dearly for it the next day :faint:
I'm not decorating this year as we are heading to Jersey from the 23rd to the 3rd..I do have this small silver tree that changes colors ... a real throwback to those 60's kitschy tinfoily trees with the tri color wheel :lol3: I think I'll just throw that up .. and some little knickknacks..

Ok Cowsies, back to the :book2:

my brain hurts :headache:

Cowpernia 11-28-2006 07:48 AM

Shots, solve for X.

If X miles of stuff that Peaches has not looked at since moving into house sit in extra bedroom, and Peaches takes out two handfuls of stuff a day, How many days will it take Peaches to finish? And how much help does she need? Mental and otherwise.

Where's Wabbo. Doesn't she check in on Mondays?

SugP 11-28-2006 08:45 AM

pfffttttt

Still cranky. Meh.

Peachy - for every handful of your stuff, I have two. How many handfuls will I have when both trains meet in the middle?

Holiday baking will commence this week, I think. Like anyone around here needs more cookies, but oh well. Am still holding at 10 lbs lost and will try not to explode over Christmas.

TONS of snow in Vancouver. People are wearing snow boots with their shorts. Have heard that latte macchiato is in short supply. The horror.

I need to go make some lists like Lushbat used to do. SOMEtimes I get stuff done when I make a list.

I want one a them thangs! I remember one year back around 1970 when my parents used to have big open house parties at Christmas time, we had our big natural tree in the living room and they put a smaller tree in the "rec room" which was spray painted white or silver or something and decorated all weird. I thought it was embarrassing at the time. But now I want one.

I have several trainloads of junk. Speaking of trains, I went out this morning to throw the ball for Jet and a train came by without blowing its whistle first. Jet started down the hill after it. Scared the :censored: out of me, but I yelled NO at her and she stopped and considered it for a moment and then came running back and jumped up on the steps for me and sat until the train was gone. Good doggie. (Although I think she decided it was a little too big for her to catch).

Later darlings
Kiwi

Cowpernia 11-28-2006 10:25 PM

When I yell NO, my cats say "What's all that racket?"

Have you all admired pictures of ds and lcp on blog? I'm so proud.

I wish I had something ANYTHING to say. I have no garden. Don't bake. Don't have grandbeautifulbaby. No puppy. No shop in lovely fogland. .... I may cry.

Schatzi 11-29-2006 08:20 AM

Peach! I went to your blog and that pic is a keeper put in frame type of keeper! ! LCP and DS look so good together... I also love your socks darling!!! And you look so very pretty with the Eagle!!!!!!!

You knit, you teach, You're a mom and a friend and You make me laugh,

Sugar, this disturbs me. In the U.S. the trains always passed on separate tracks. In Canada, do they come to a crashing end, falling off the bridge, folding up like an accordion, just for the sake of accurate measuring?

Shots, the beautiful picture is out of focus. I can't fix it. I couldn't get it sharp even though I took it over and over as they worked on a crossword puzzle.

I have to get ready to go to work. Isn't it nice to sleep in??? I wanna do that.

Schatzi 11-29-2006 09:48 AM

Focus schmocus... it looks like a artsy in the fog pic

Schatzi 11-29-2006 09:49 AM

Peach is there something wrong with your gmail account?? check, I get returned mail ...

Kiwonk 11-29-2006 12:39 PM

Has everyone heard from Wabbit? If you didn't get an email, PM me.

Later,
Kiwi

Kiwonk 12-01-2006 01:32 PM

Hi all. I hope Wabbit is doing okay. Don't imagine she'll be stopping by here much for a while, but in case she does -- We're all thinking about you, Wab, and anytime you want to "talk", we are available.

Had my first OT appointment yesterday. Oy. The guy tells me I should do absolutely nothing that "hurts" for at 2 or 3 weeks. Of course we're talking my right elbow, so I don't use that for anything... Then he gives me a paper with a stretching exercise on it, which I just did. It hurt. Go figure. Anyway I have to "mouse" with my left hand for a while. That is some awkward. I'll have to get a new mouse. They also did some weird electrical doodad with steroidal medicine on a skin patch delivered by electrical impulse. Or something; I think it was voodoo.

Later cowsies
Kiwi

Cowpernia 12-01-2006 07:19 PM

I was going to post today, too. In case Wabby stops by we need to be here!

Tomorrow I plan to buy a daybed. I don't want a daybed but I need something for lcp to sleep on so ds can have his bed back. She'll be here the weekend before Christmas, I'm told. And I'm glad.

Bagzz 12-01-2006 09:29 PM

I know---it seems so lonely here without Wabby---seems weird to just talk about ordinary things considering what is going on in her life. When they say "live goes on"----i really HATE that saying---the only trouble is----it's actually true---people go on talking about this and that while you feel the bottom has dropped out of your entire world. YOu actually feel like you live on another planet. Here in rainyville, nothing is new------it's just that the herd has suffered a devastating blow and we are all gathering to talk for the sake of hanging together. I don't think one of us has stopped thinking about wabby the entire week.---------------like cowpern and kiwi said----if you are out there wabbit----know that we are with you in all our thoughts. we love you and we are here keeping your space warm for you. xoxoxoxoxoxo

We're kind of snowed in here right now. It's beautiful here.

Wabby has been constantly in my thoughts. I hope she knows that.

SugP 12-02-2006 02:57 PM

I'm glad we're posting again. Love you, Wabs!

Nothing new here either. Went downtown, looked at Christmas stuff. Came home. There's a Christmas market tomorrow in Dullsville which we'll probably go to. I've been 10 times so far and it NEVER changes. Oh well.

Cowpernia 12-02-2006 04:11 PM

But why would a Christmas Market in the hometown of Kris Kringle ever need to change? What's in it? I bet it has everything I would want for Christmas. Tell.

I bought furniture today. I bought more than I planned to buy and now I HAVE to clean out that room.

Oh woe is me.

SugP 12-02-2006 05:42 PM

What's in it...hmm...let's see. There's bratwurst and beer and Schmalzkuchen which translates as "lard cake" but tastes much better. There are raffle tickets - one year we won a shrub, the next a crate of vegetables. There are arts and crafts, the same ones every year because no one buys them. There's the beautiful church which has just been renovated and will have its grand re-opening. Did I mention the beer? Lots of beer.

I'll try to get some pictures tomorrow. Only the crappy camera works. The battery charger for the good camera seems to have gone the way of that green shoe. Please suggest places we might find it.

Just how much furniture did you buy?

Cowpernia 12-02-2006 05:52 PM

No no no. I bet they have beautiful Santas with long beards and cute clothes. I bet they have pretzel ornaments and snow thingies you shake. We don't have those in Florida. They have nutcrackers and cute dolls and nice chocolate. Admit it .

I bought a lovely daybed. The back part is sand-colored (not snow-colored) brass curvy stuff and the mattress is really nice with extra pillowing on top. And I bought two comfy black metal woven looking twirling and uping and downing chairs and computer work or whatever. And I bought something calling an accessory table or accent table or something. Very pretty I thought with two drawers and two shelves behind two doors. Small. LCP might use it for her stuff or I might drag it into the lr and put the tv on it.

The problem: the cat box is in that room along with folding chairs, coolers and such. Where or where to put them. The house is small and there is no storage that's not full. I walk around and around and find nothing. So I went online to look for ideas and found this guy who suggests that I get rid of my wonderful big fridge and get an under counter one and take down all the doors and replace them with CURTAINS. Isnt' that horrible? I'm still looking. Someone suggest something. I want to put the cat box in the washing machine room even though it's by the kitchen but then where to put the coolers and all that crap. I need coolers sometimes. Really.

Kiwonk 12-02-2006 05:54 PM

Oh, you poor dear, having to fit new furniture in your house. Want some help? I could probably find room for some of it here.

I had the yearly endless conversation with my brother, bless his little twisted heart. He was calling from his truck, as in 18-wheel rig, and I think his main reason for calling was to get ideas for DD for Christmas, but we wished each other belated birthdays (well, you know, it's the thought that counts) and then I heard every freaking last detail about his weekly long-haul, all their dogs and other minutae. I could barely get a word in edge-wise. But no matter, gotta love the old redneck bro'. He suggested we buy him a great big area rug for Christmas. Say wha? That sounds like a fun thing to pack in the back of the SUV... Crazy person.

mmmmmmmmmmm later
kiwi

Kiwonk 12-02-2006 06:04 PM

Oh lordie, it takes me so long to function with my left hand on the puter that I cannot keep up with a conversation.

Everyone should have coolers. How can you have a decent picnic or day at the beach without coolers? I store ours in the garage. Is there room in the extra room for a folding screen, behind which you could keep lovely things like coolers? Or high shelves in some closet that you could put them on?

I'm trying to decide between this and this, in "eggplant". It's for me. What do you think?

Kiwi

Cowpernia 12-02-2006 06:04 PM

Great big area rug gift card comes to mind.

Minutae is a big word for a redneck sis.

Where can I put my coolers? Trunk of car? You are not helpful.

Cowpernia 12-02-2006 06:07 PM

I vote for in eggplant cause I like the neckline better on me.

I have a small table (small dinnette square wood thing) that I'm leaving in that room. I could turn it on its side and put things behind it.

Cowpernia 12-02-2006 06:08 PM

also I don't like the slitty sleeves.

Cowpernia 12-02-2006 06:09 PM

it is so funny to look for storage ideas. I just learned to how MAKE a thing to all my barrettes on. This would save space I guess if I had a barrette.

Also, I can put things under the stairs like I wouldn't think of that if I had a stair.

Kiwonk 12-02-2006 06:15 PM

Hmm, I think you're right about the slitty sleeves. Which I of course read at ****ty sleeves.

Would the table be just as useful to put things under and then cover with a big purty tablecloth/spread/great big area rug gift card? Then you could still use the top for gewgaws and knickknacks and whatnots.

kiwi, ever helpful

Kiwonk 12-02-2006 06:23 PM

Also you could use it for frippery, doodads, furbelows, gimcrack, baubles, trinkets, flummery, bric-a-brac, bibelot, kickshaw, yes, kickshaw, or even objet d'art.

Cowpernia 12-02-2006 07:08 PM

How about clutter? I have old Coke cans and unopened junk mail and stamps iwth American flags on them that I have no idea the worth of ... can I just put that stuff there?

Cherry Cow 12-02-2006 07:14 PM

I like the slitty-sleeve v-neck.

Cowpernia 12-02-2006 07:32 PM

Kiwi, it's only to be expected that you would misread that word as we recognize what we already know. We gave the kids Christmas cookies and the only shaped like a Christmas tree was seen as Christmas pizza. Same shape. They told me it's because you eat pizza on Christmas.

The slitty sleees will fall into your pizza topping.
