Just a quickie hi--lot's of stressful stuff but things seem to be getting better--computer at home is acting up--hope it didn't catch a "bug" from SUe's computer (J/K Sue)--may have to call those computer nerds!!

I'll try to be back later tonight after I work out at the gym. BTW I quit Slim-n-Tone and started at Gold's on last Friday--I am really liking it.

FrouFrou 08-30-2006 04:35 PM

Hello ladies and a good Wednesday to you all...

JANE...hugs to you  I can relate to the stress for sure. You'll be fine though, just remember what doesn't kill us makes us stronger. I am praying that the cystic fibrosis tests come back negative. I have to say about Katie moving in with her boyfriend...I moved in with DH#1 when I was 19 (turned 20 a month later) and we were married for 12 years until of course you know what happened. I think Katie has a good head on her shoulders and she will be fine. But I know too as mothers we will always worry and stress over our babies. And they will always be our babies.

JULES...I am SO HAPPY to see you posting again! :carrot: I have really missed you. And how are you liking the gym? And having a persoanl trainer? I'm so jealous...would love to have a persoanl trainer to whip me in shape. Anyway, glad you are back.

SASSY...UGH! I hated the ending of Rescue Me! Of course we know thought that Tommy can't die because he is the show. But the whiney cousins wife, ugh. I think her time is up. We'll see...but I do love that show, my favorite...too funny. Glad you caught the mistake of the meds...that is too scarey. A whole week off eh? Yeah, what do you have planned? Can't answer anything about zucchini...not a fan of it except in the bread I had a couple of times, tastes like carrot cake.

IFONLY...I know the feeling all too well also. Why do we do that to ourselves? I haven't in a while, which is good. But when Josh first joined the Army I was a wreck. About being tired after exercise...do you take vitamins?

SUE...well, I hope those darn cabinet men made it today. I don't know why they never seem to call. If they say they are going to be there then they should be there or at least call and say they are not. WTG on your biking but sorry you will lose your walking partner.

NORMA...glad you are feeling better. All this talk about coloring the grey when I decided no more coloring for me! We'll see how long that lasts, lol. I only have a little grey at the temples and my hair is light colored anyway it just kind of blends in, not so noticable. I agree about the phone calls...I don't care how much it cost it IS money well spent! hearing from Josh puts a smile on my face that lasts for days!

MARTI...glad you enjoyed your four days off and that you have a short week this week! Most of the Hallmarks around here always have an Open House in July for the Christmas ornament preview and if I remember correctly, I think they have another one in November. They send me things in the mail because I have one of their member cards. It's free and you get points for buying anything. I usually get 3-5 certificates a year. Once you get so many points. The certificates range from $5-15 depending on the points you have. The crappy thing, sort of is you get points for buying anything in the store, more if you buy Hallmark products but the certificates can only be used on stuff with the Hallmark name. Still not bad because I buy a lot of cards and they come in handy. And yes, it was worth losing sleep over just to talk with Josh. It is so good to hear his voice and I think he misses us so I know it's good for him to hear mine.

HI and :welcome: Nixxie!as Marti said...feel free to share anything with us. Looking forward to getting to know you.

Hi to everyone else!

Again, I didn't want to get up. For some reason I wake up at about 5 every morning (but not completely awake) and toss and turn until my alarm goes off at 7. Turn it off and then turn over and go to sleep and not want to get up-ugh, it's killing me! I should just get up when I start doing that but it is too early and I don't think I would make it through the day. Anyway, got up and went to the park for a 1.5 mile walk, came did a couple of things and then was off to It Figures. I am really getting pumped up about exercising-it's about time! So feeling pretty good about that. Now I need to go vacuum and start a load of laundry. Try to get that done before gettingon the computer but it was lunch time and I got on while I ate my tuna sandwich, which by the way was very good. Anyway, going to go do that now and then later get a couple of packages ready to send to Josh...got his address and I hope it doesn't take too long to get there. He's heading out to do some icky business the middle of Sept. :( A lot of praying going on in this house. Anywho...

Take care ladies and I hope everyone is having a wonderful day!

Hi Ladies!

Hi Ladies!

Norma -- YW hon. Wow how scary, at least yours wasn't a mistake! Hub called and talked too the Pham. Manager today and she was shocked (she wasn't the one who filled it) and was VERY appologetic and said she would replace it immediately.

I want to get a perm. Only thing is I haven't yet found a hairdresser in OH (I'm originally from IN) that I trust enough to give me one......lol.

Hello and Welcome, Nixxie! This is a wonderful place so just feel free to take your shoes off, grab your fav. beverage and be right at home!

Marti -- Glad you had a good time off! As for us on our vacation, we have decided to just jump in the car and go wherever it may take us!!!!!!!! So we do not know exactly where we are going! lollllll.

Jules --- *Doesth my eyes deceive me?* JULESSSSSSSSSS!!!!!! Glad to see you! We missed ya! I hope your 'puter didn't catch the "bug"........;)

Cristina -- I know that is exactly what I said too. There is no way they will kill off the main character! But hub thought maybe he might get injured or something like that?????? I dunno.......have to wait to tune in next season! GRRRRR! That show is SO addicting!!!!

The answer to the Zucchini Question.............It has a total of 9 Carbs for one large Raw Zucchini, but 4 of those is Dietary Fiber, so I think don't you subtract those? Anyways, not a lot of carbs. Esp. since potatoes have 26 g. for one Med. Raw. and they have 3 dietary fiber.

So you learn something everyday, eh? Here is the link if you want to look up your fav. Veggie: http://www.wholefoodsmarket.com/prod.../list_veg.html

Hi ladies,

Jules!!!! I'm so glad to see you posting. You have been Very Very missed! Gold's Gym, huh? You Go Girl!!! That sounds great, and it will make you feel better, too.

Nixxie - omg, I live about 35 miles north of Evansville. What took you all the way from E'ville to Sweden? I'm appalled at the way Eastland Mall has gone downhill! All the good stores are moving to Burkhart Road. Just went to Gordman's for the first time last week, and got some decorations for fall. I wanted to go to the new Pier 1, but ran out of time.

Sue - these darn contractors are just too independent! They know they have us by the short hairs, and are in such a demand, that they can do whatever they want. Phooey! Hey, girlie, get a helmet, ok? Don't want to be reading about you in the Indianpolis Star!

Ifonly - middle-schoolers should all be shipped to an island somewhere until they reach about.... 25, lol. I truly think middle school is the worst for kids. They're trying to find their own identity, and yet fit in just like everyone else. About the pool, I finally got to the point where I just go have fun. If nothing else, I serve as the one who makes everyone else feel slim. One of these days, I hope that changes.

Norma - I keep thinking I'm going to go grey. In fact, I told my stylist today that I was going to let it go. But then, I get too scared to do that. What to do, what to do????? Did you get ahold of your DIL? Hope she joins us soon.

Marti - ty, friend. Oh man, I'm so glad you got 4 days off, and have 3 more coming up. Any special plans for labor day?

Cristi - all the JLs will be praying for Josh, Cristi. And you can come here any time and we'll share your worry, ok? About Katie, yes, you're right, she does have a good head on her shoulders. I think she and Clint are a good couple, and they have so much in common. It's just hard to think of the "baby" leaving the nest. <sniff> I wake early, too, sometimes, and have learned that I feel better if I go ahead and get up, then take a nap later. That might work for you.

Sassy - my old neighbor had a 4 y/o son who needed a liquid med, and the pharmacy forgot to delete the elixer!! Yowza, that caused lots of trouble. You just don't know who to trust anymore. Wow, you get lots of vacation time. I'm happy for you. :cp: Yep, portion control is key.

Hello to everyone else reading this.

I've calmed down quite a bit from yesterday. There's no use borrowing trouble, and if worse comes to worse, Mary is going to need me to be strong. We don't know how long it will take for the lab to get the results.

I got my hair trimmed today, and it feels a lot better. I do think I'm going to start using temporary dye, so that if I decide to go grey, it can just eventually wash out.

Reminder: tomorrow is our last day before Friday's weigh-in, for anyone who joined Suzanne's August Forum-wide Weigh in challenge.

Have a good one, ladies.

Well, I didn't come here and bug you gals. Got a little busy with riding the bike, WATP and walking. Also had a good friend come over for a visit this afternoon. Then Mom came and left me her little dog, which I am sitting for this week-end. Such a cute solid black pom, weighs 5 pounds.
Yes, the guys came today and we are in the process of getting counter tops. So far it looks good.
Almost moving day here....finally!

Welcome to all the newbies and I do hope you have found a home here with us.

Individuals tomorrow...I promise.

suetalks 08-30-2006 10:32 PM

Jules Welcome back. You were missed. I hope things are well with you and yours!

Sassy_Chick 08-31-2006 12:17 AM

Hi Jane.

Yeah the pharm. even called again to let us know they are refunding us our money as well. ;) Only $10 (our copay) but hey $10 is $10. ;)

I don't really get that much vacation time hon. Remember I only work 4 days (nights) a week. So I get off 3 days off a week. So I'm only in reality taking off 3 days (nights) off from work the last week of Sept. Its just the days (nights) we are taking off + our normal nights off, makes it a full week off.

Have a Great Night Everybody.

harkeyvalley 08-31-2006 03:12 AM

I'm sorry ladies but I have to brag. I completed one month as of today on counting calories and some (but not enough) exercise. I filled in the FitDay body log. I have lost 6 inches. I can see the lbs on the scale, but I couldn't see it on this blimp of a body. When I took my measurements tonight, I was shocked. I am getting smaller! This was the motivation I was needing. Sometimes I couldn't see how one month of dieting was doing any good. This was what I was needing to see.

Cristina:My package to Afganistan took 3 weeks. So don't be surprised. I was in the Army myself (back when they had WACS) and my mother was a War Mother. It was a national group. They would send me things and it was always packed in popcorn. That way I got to eat even the packing. LOL It all was inside of a large bag with a tie inside the box.

Jane: I have finally gone all grey and white. I used to keep my brown hair a ash blonde. When I get skinny, I don't want to look old any more. Besides I've gotten used to the light color around my face, even if it is white.

Sue: I'm glad to hear the cabinet people finally arrived. Tell them their payment will be as prompt!

Sassy: That's decent that they refunded your money. That's cheaper than a law suit had you taken the wrong meds and suffered from it.

Marti: Welcome back!

Hello to Ifonly, Jules, and Nexxie

You all have a great morning!

Nixxie 08-31-2006 06:58 AM

*read around my mistakes. Been in Swedish class all day*

Jane,

I haven't been home in almost 2 years. I can't wait to:
  • Drive an auto
  • Go to the mall
  • eat a chulupa from Taco Bell
  • drink a magarita that doesn't cost 10$
  • go to the store at 2am just because I can!
  • Buy Clothing that fits
  • and meet my family and friends again.
    and two words
  • TARGET and DEB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!l

What has brought me to Sweden...

Once upon a time I met a boy who lived in a land far far away where they said things like "Bork Bork" and "hurdy durdy"*.

Isn't that the begining of every story?

I heard that some of the stores at eastland mall were hmm...upphör...:?: stopping...gee, that isn't right...(sorry, my english has become really bad). My best friend lives in Newburgh and she keeps me updated on everything that is going on. She said that I won't know Burkhart Road when I get to see it (I almost typed "when I get to seeing it. Swedish...*sigh*)

I am guessing that it is still warm there. It is around 70F here. Never got above 85F which I am grateful for. The heat and hmm...steamy conditions in Evansville really made me uncomfortable. I will however miss the sun rising at 3:30am and setting at 10:30pm:) . It was only dark here for about an hour a day durning june and juli before the sun started going up again. On the other end of that is the winter....sun rising at 8-8:30am and setting at 3-3:30pm:( .

*Swedes really don't say those things and actually the Swedish Chef sounds more Danish than Swedish:)

Katiecat 08-31-2006 10:22 AM

Good morning ladies...:coffee:

This will be a quickie because we are on #50 now, and I don't know how to start a new thread! :o I'm so lame...

I had the bladder infection from **** yesterday, and felt awful, but the antibiotics are kicking in today and I'm starting to feel more human again.

Jane, sorry to hear about the little one's allergies to nuts :( You are a very devoted and careful grandma to comb through your cupboards like that to make sure she doesn't get any by accident. Is her allergy so severe that you'll have to watch for labels that say, "this product was produced on a machine that also processes nuts" and things like that? And I'm keeping good thoughts and prayers that the other test for CF comes out negative.

Nixxie, welcome! I followed some of your links and wandered on to your My Space page...mine is very Spartan, so far, but I'm working on it slowly. I signed up to keep in touch with my sons (15 y o lives with his dad during the week and comes to my house every weekend, 20 y o lives here in town, and 23 y o is in the Air Force halfway across the country). I was checking out some of the bands you like -- I have rather eclectic tastes, but we do like some of the same stuff. Do you like Tool? We are going to see them this Saturday night (Hubby the Technogeek, 15 y o son, and 20 y o son -- just a Wholesome Family Fun evening, hehe). Saw NIN with the boys last September, just a couple of days after my birthday, great show.

Oops, gotta fly! They changed Tim's lunchtime to 10 am (he hates it, since he has to work until 4 pm, it's just too darn early). Anyway, I promised I'd bring him lunch today. Hi to everybody else, and I'll try to get back on later today...

Marti 08-31-2006 11:17 AM

We've hit the end.....lets go to #210!
