Hi ladies...

Sorry I haven't been in, it's been a very busy couple of days.

Dr. on Friday says I'm not ready to go back to work with no restrictions yet (and my job said my 90 days of modified duty since surgery are now up, so they won't accommodate the extra breaks she is requiring). So, still home on Worker's Comp. I see her again in 6 weeks -- and tomorrow I will turn in the paperwork to get started on physical therapy again. The chronic pain class seems like it will be very helpful, and that will be every Tuesday for the next 5 weeks. Next time I see the Dr. if there is not a marked improvement, then she is going to request another EMG test to see what is going on with the nerves.

Cristina, will be praying and holding good thoughts for Josh, and all the folks over in the Middle East. My oldest son Erik is getting deployed to Guam in January (he is ground crew for a long range bomber). He will be getting leave in September and coming to visit for a few weeks.

Jane, good for you staying OP! I love Laughing Cow cheese, and it's so perfect that it's packaged in individual portions like that. I picked up some fresh green beans from the Farmer's Market, and I think I'm going to try some with the stewed tomatoes like you suggested to me. I might use the rest for a Salad Nicoise. The Walk to Emmaus retreat sounds wonderful. :)

Joan Fay, I grew up in Southern CA -- didn't go to Palm Springs much, but my great aunt and uncle lived in the desert outside of Hemet, and I remember visiting Escondido and Lake Elsinore. Hope you had a great time, and good job on the pound down!

Marti, if James takes the book with him, you can find some Pilates exercise info on the net, but not much because it seems like it's heavily copyrighted. I didn't know much about Pilates, but found some good info and even video clips of quite a few exercises on hermit dot com; a lot of the site is for subscribers only, but there is a lot for free, too. It looks very interesting, and I like a lot of the concept I've been reading about. I understand about losing flexibility -- once upon a time I was able to stand up and then bend over and touch my forehead to my knees -- and hold it. Shoot, I used to be able to lay flat on my tummy and bend both knees and hold the soles of my feet to the floor on either side of my hips! It's been a looooooooooooonnnnnnnnng time since I could do that :yoga:

Sue, I agree with Jane that you've been very hard on yourself :nono: Planning for snacks can really help you stay on track -- and I think it's great that you are planning ahead for options if you are craving sweet or salty, very good idea.

Noah, 15, told me today that I'm a cool mom because I play video games with him and like a lot of the same music he does. Love that kid

Hi to everyone else... Angie, where are ya???

Marti 08-07-2006 11:17 AM

Just a quick "good morning" to you all.....

I need to get moving today, but will try and pop back in after work.

You all have a GREAT monday!!

Jane 08-07-2006 12:12 PM

Good morning, ladies,

Sue - I think you'll like eating more often during the day. I know that eating 3 smaller meals and 2 snacks help keeps my sugar at a good level, and my belly happy. Btw, could you PM me your new home address? It won't be long before you're ready to move!

MaryKate- oh, I hope you do have lots of improvement in the next 6 weeks. At least you still get to draw workman's comp. That's a blessing. You might want to add a little Italian seasoning, too, to the green beans and stewed tomatoes. There's already onion and green pepper in the tomatoes - not sure what else, lol. Ahh, comments like the one from your Noah make it all worthwhile, don't they?

Marti - hello... buh-bye.... see ya later, chicka, lol. PS - how's your grandpa doing?

Hello to anyone else reading this.

Well, my sweeper died this weekend. Katie was using it to sweep out her dad's truck (she needs $$$ - STILL hasn't found a job) and it quit. Neal says he doesn't think it can be fixed. I really don't want to have to spend money on a sweeper right now, but that's one thing we can't do without. There goes my treadmill money! :dizzy:

Mary bought the twins new backpacks for preschool, but Caylin didn't get one since she isn't going to preschool. I thought Caylin accepted that very well, but still, after checking with Mary first, I told her I'd take her and get one, so I'll be doing that later today. Caylin is ecstatic, lol.

What's your plan for the day?

PokeeDotts 08-07-2006 01:32 PM

 Ladies -- I just wanted to stop in and say hi. I'm back after a leave, with a new screen name, because I forgot my password, but I like the change. I had a lot of problems going on and just didn't feel like talking.:( Everthing is going good except I pulled a muscle in my back on Saturday, and I've been having sleepless nights and living off of my 800mg Motrins. My younger DD's friend was here this past week from Maine, because she has never been to the west coast. We had a lot of fun going shopping, out to eat and to the beach for one day. Now my DD flew back to Maine with her friend yesterday and she will fly back home this next Sunday. I already miss herm but she has called me three times. Tomorrow night, my older DD, DH and I are going to the Tim and Faith concert. I'm really excited because they both are so good! Then on Thursday, my DH and I will be spending the whole day up at OHSU because my mom is having another surgery on her leg that she had bone cancer in. Everyone is really worried about this surgery, because we're really worried if her heart can withstand the surgery. I hope all of you are doing good and I'll check back in a little later.:grouphug:

Jane 08-07-2006 02:03 PM

Michelle!!!! I'm so glad you're back, hon! :cp: I missed you, as I'd said in my PM awhile back. You can always talk to us, you know. Sometimes a person just doesn't feel like it, though, and I totally understand that. I like your new name, too.... PokeeDotts, lol. How did you come up with that? I'll make a note in your bio, ok? Btw, I'm sending good vibes for your mother's surgery on Thursday, :goodvibes: and hope all goes well. Be sure and let us know, ok? Hey, have fun at the Tim and Faith concert. My DS has seen them both in concert and says they're awesome. Again, welcome back, Michelle.

PokeeDotts 08-07-2006 02:14 PM

Jane -- Thank you SO much for your warm welcome back! You are SO sweet. I will keep you posted on my mom's surgery. Thank you for your kind words.

FrouFrou 08-07-2006 03:19 PM

Hello ladies...

Thank you ladies for the hugs and prayers! :thanks:

JANE...I have no idea when Josh will be in touch again, neither did he. They keep changing things on them. They are wanting them in Iraq as soon as they can. But who knows when I will hear from him. WTG on the NSV! :carrot:

MARYKATE...sorry you are having so much pain with your arm and with work. Good thing you are getting worker's comp...always thought the jobs were supposed to accept Doc's orders but I guess some places just try to make it difficult. At least your son isn't going to Iraq-wonder why Guam though? Josh was hoping he would be stationed in Italy. Heard from a lot of guys that if that were the case they wouldn't have to go to war. Don't know how true that is. Where is Eric stationed? Is he in the Army or AirForce? I know you probably mentioned it before, just can't remember.

MICHELLE...so glad to see you back, missed you! I've been meaning to send a card to you and Jules but my mind has been on Josh and I can't seem to get much in the way of writing or card sending done these days, sorry. Hope you guys have a great time at the Faith and Tim concert.

SUE...I too think you were to hard on yourself. I used to be that way too. Now, I figure it's not the end of the world and move on, no guilt. I think your plan sounds great by the way.

MARTI...okay can't remember...are you working days now? I can't keep anything straight I swear. :dizzy: Hope you and Jhanai had a fun weekend together.

Hi to everyone else

I am happy to say I am down 2 pounds this WI! Woohoo :carrot: It's about time I got below 200. Geez, seems like I was stuck wavering between 202 and 201 forever. I was getting frustrated and think that is why I took a two week break. That and the heat. Glad to see the scales finally move.

Went to It Figures, did a 1 mile walk on the treadmill when I got home then cleaned house. Very productive morning if I say so myself. Trying to keep busy. Had planned on getting up early but stayed up late (til 1:30) finishing my book and ended up sleeping until 9. Anyway...

Hope everyone is having a wonderful day!

Sassy_Chick 08-07-2006 10:30 PM

Hello There!

Well Hello Fellow Chicks! ;)
Its me, Sassy. I figured I should at least "check in" before Jane forms a search party! lol. J/K!

I'm still alive and kicking. Just wanted to let you all know.

Take care!

Marti 08-07-2006 11:10 PM

Hello gals!

Had a good weekend. Went to the hospital to see my grandpa. He won't be out until tomorrow or the next day. They just want to keep an eye on him. He's really wanting to go home. He looks good. He looks more rested than he has in a long time too! The man needs to slow down.

Cristi--What great thing that you got yourself out of bed to go work out even when you didn't feel like it. I hate it when I know I should get up and move, and I just don't. That's totally me today. Tomorrow will be different.

Sue--I'm in agreement w/everyone about you being hard on yourself. I like your plans to keep on track. I need to do the same.

Jane--I always make sure I ask Jhanai before I post her photo. She's got to make sure she "looks" alright. She's becoming such the teen!! (so that's where all the gray comes from!)

MaryKate--The days of flexibility. I remember doing cartwheels and handstands and then running into splits.... **sigh**but I'm too old for that now, just to be able to bend over comfortably w/out feeling like I'm going to black out would be great! I do have pilates tapes, so even if James has the book...I could be doing something.

Michelle--So glad to see you popping in! I was worried about you and wondering how your mother was doing. My thoughts will be w/her when you go to OHSU. Enjoy your concert. Try to just enjoy it totally and not worry about things while you're there.

Sassy--Good to see you. Pop in later when you have more time.

Did I forget anyone?? I hope not. If I have, I apologize. I have some things I need to get done before bed so I better get moving.

Have a great night!

FrouFrou 08-08-2006 02:29 PM

Good afternoon, ladies!

Pretty quiet around here...

JANE...I keep forgetting to tell you that The Rolling Stones are coming to Wichita in October-I know how you like them. I've not been to a concert in ages. August 25th there's going to be a Flight Festival and V and I are going to that...I think. That's the plan anyway, or was...on this day it's in the evening and the air show will have twilight pyrotechnics and then a concert after...not really a big fan of the Blues Travelers but they are okay. Just want to go out and do something with my hubby...he works so much and he too needs a break.

MARTI...glad to hear your grandpa is feeling rested. I am glad also that the hospital kept him as long as they did to make sure all was fine with him. All too often they release patients sooner than they should. Josh's friend in Hawaii had to have surgery...they thought he had a tumor in his brain-poor Josh was so worried about him and said he thought they should have kept him longer. Well once they opend up they found out it wasn't a cancerous tumor but just a cyst, they sent him home the next day after the surgery, EGADS! And guess what? He was back in the hospital a day later. This time they kept him for a while. He had gotten an infection-poor guy. He's fine now and that kept him from having to go to Iraq which was good because his wife is pregnant. He will eventually have to go, they just want to keep an eye on him for six months.

SHEL...good to see you check in. Post more when you can.

MICHELLE...not sure how I missed that part about your mother, sorry. I will be thinking of you all on Thursday and keeping you in my prayers.

Hi to everyone else

I am feeling pretty good. It is amazing how getting your exercise gives you so much energy. I overslept this morning but still got to the park for my walk before it got too hot. Of course by the second time around I was sweating, ick. Did 3.5 miles and then came home and mowed the front and back yards. Also, got the house clean and doing a load of laundry. Feels good to get everything done early. Of course early for me is before 12:30 or 1. I like to be done by then and have my lunch while I get on the computer. Doesn't always work that way but I try. Anyway...that's about all I have.

Hope everyone is having a great day!

suetalks 08-08-2006 04:18 PM

Good afternoon. I hope you are all having a great day. I am feeling so good and like Cristina, I have more energy already. (or maybe it is a psychological thing?) I did real well on eating and got in a 2 mile walk this morning. Outdoors! Yes, it is finally less humid here. I ran errands and stopped to see Mom. She decided to go with me to the drug store and grocery store, so that was nice.
I have been following the separation of the 4 year old conjoined twins. Wow...what a surgery. They still need lots of prayers, so please remember them. They have a site at www.herrintwins.com/news that I have been following on. Earlier they had family pictures and a blog up at that site, but due to all the traffic they had to just do a news page.

Anyway..gotta fix dinner so BBL for more.

PokeeDotts 08-08-2006 05:19 PM

JANE -- I came up with my new username because I love poka dots, but I just wanted something different. I also use this name on another board. Thanks for making the change in my bio. I know you said before that I could PM you, and I thank you so much for your kindness, but I just went through a time that I just didn't talk to anyone, but things are so much better now. My back is still very sore, and I'm hoping it holds up okay when we go to the Tim and Faith concert tonight. I'm so excited for this concert and I'm sure it will be really good!

SUE -- Thank you for your kind words. I haven't been around for awhile, but how is your house going?

MARTI -- I love your avatar pic...she is so pretty! How is your job going?

CRISTI -- Thank you also for your kind words. I didn't read back and find out, what is going on with Josh? I know you're going through some hard and sad times, and I'm very sorry and will say a prayer for you.

HELLO to anyone else I may have missed!:grouphug:

Jane 08-08-2006 05:26 PM

Hiya ladies,

Michelle - YW! Yes, be sure and let us know about your mama tomorrow, ok? Edited to add - have fun tonight!!

Cristina - YAY for the 2 pounds down! I mentioned that on the other thread too, I know, but still, I'm happy for you! Especially for your entry into Onederland. When Josh is who-knows-where, do you have an address for him? Or do you have to wait until he's settled in somewhere to mail letters? The Stones??? They were in Chicago last year but by the time I knew about it, the concert was sold out. Which would've been about 10 minutes after tickets went on sale, lol.

Sassy - well, ok, I'll let the posse go on home now that you've reported in, lol. I've wondered where you are, and am so glad you checked in. Come back soon, ok?

Angie - I miss you :( and hope you come back soon, too.

Marti - did your grandpa get to come home today? Hope so. He's pretty strong for a man his age, isn't he? About Jhanai, I can't imagine a picture of her being bad, but if she's like most teens, she probably doesn't ike most of them.

Sue - I saw the twins you're talking about on TV this morning. What an ordeal, and isn't it amazing what technology is out there? I understand that the mom is going to give one of her kidneys to to the weakest one.

Well, today I had Makenzie Jane until a little while ago. It was her day to be Granma's Girl. She is so sweet! We did fun stuff, then both took a nap. She picked corn and tomatoes to go with her supper tonight, lol.

Oh! Neal fixed the sweeper after all, so I'm happy about that. I forget what he said it was, but it's fixed. :)

See ya on the flip side.

Jane 08-08-2006 08:47 PM

I know you're still on vacation, but still, I'm not sure when I can check in tomorrow, so......

:gift: :carrot::balloons::cp:Happy Birthday, Robin:cp::balloons::carrot::gift:

I hope your birthday is tons of fun, sweetie!

suetalks 08-09-2006 09:40 AM

It is raining this morning, so no walking outdoors unless it quits. Food has gone great so far. Seems like all I can think about...but that is normal for me the first few days.

BBL
