dj- did you take any good pics? glad that you had a great time. camping is one thing that my family has not done but hope to soon.
jolly, red, pink, girlie, apple- hope that everything is going great for you. i sure that this is a busy time of year for most of you with school starting back and all. keep up the good work. i plan on getting some new challenges going as soon as i get going with school again.

jollygirl 08-15-2006 10:21 PM

Hi all  Just a quick check in before bed. All challenges met for the day . . . unless I missed one that I will remember in the morning :o

Only one thing to report - I will have to miss my circuit training class tomorrow. I went to the chiropractor for my hip - he said I should only walk for the rest of the week, and ice it as needed. Well . . . I iced and rested tonight, and am going to try my yoga tape in the morning. Hopefully then I can jog again Thursday and do my class on Friday.

Take care y'all. Glad your trip was fantastic, DJ. Good luck to you and Trob on your new challenges.

PinkSnowDays 08-16-2006 01:08 AM

Alright I'm kicking it into gear now, finished all my challenges today. Trying to cut out caffinated drinks from my day altogether to help my sleeping... def a challenge for me but I can't keep staying up till 5 or 6 am. Joined the Christmas Challenge... ready to get serious. While the 40 pounds/2 pounds a week might be a little steep for me I want to at least try! I won't be seeing much family or friends from home till Thanksgiving and won't see everyone till Christmas so I have something to look forward to showing off at and some motivation to stay on track. Back in the gym next Monday...can't believe I'm saying this but I can't wait!!!

I bought some hand weights for home the other day... 5 pound ones... and realized I'm pretty out of shape, being out of the gym for about 4 months now but also realized that I have lost one of those weights already... almost both, off my body. I'm ready to take these pounds off I'm carrying around!

Day 1 - 100 crunches a day
Day 1 - 2000 calories or less a day
Day 1 - No eating after 10pm
Day 1 - 30 Minutes of Exercise a day

jollygirl 08-16-2006 07:54 AM

Good morning all. Good luck with your challenges, PInk. I know you can do it.

Well, I ended up saving my yoga tape for later. The hip was still sore this mroning, so I took a nap on an ice pack. Feels better now, so will try to do the tape tonight. I hate not working out though. Now I feel all blah and bloaty.

Anyway. Have a super day all

trob 08-16-2006 08:08 PM

jolly- take care of that hip and don't over do. i know that you want to get back to all your exercise but you don't want to hurt yourself more.
pink- WAY TO GO!!!! looks like you have got some great ones to start. i stopped drinking caff. drinks many years ago...well not totally but i don't keep them at home. i found that if i had 1/2 cup or so first thing in the morning that i was fine the rest of the day. i would buy one at work and pour a little out and then give the rest away. has worked for me. and i sleep much better. good luck

i have still not started any new chall. and probably won't until i start having classes next week. right now my schedule is so crazy with back to school meetings and trying to get my room ready that i can't think of anything else.

jollygirl 08-16-2006 09:50 PM

Hey all. Thanks, Trob. I will try to take it easy, but it is tough. I want to go go go.

I had to take a pause on the soda challenge. Long crabby meeting at work, and I just had to get through.

Have a good night all

redballoon 08-17-2006 12:12 AM

Heh all. Hi there! Sorry, I haven't deserted you, just need some time out...too much going on. I'll be back soon. I'm not on any challenges as far as counting goes, but I'm still doing crunches, eating clean etc. and it really feels like the goal of the challenges, to make things habits, has worked! :) I'll be back real soon though with a challenge just to be sure to hold myself accountable. Hang in there, everybody. You can do it! :sunny:

PinkSnowDays 08-17-2006 12:41 AM

Red don't stay away for long!!

Not a bad day, I am cutting out my workout challenge though. I'm still going to try to get it in everyday but until I get on a regular schedual with work and school I'm going to put it off. Drinking a lot more water today :-)

Keep up all the good work girls!

Day 2 - 100 crunches a day
Day 2 - 2000 calories or less a day
Day 2 - No eating after 10pm
(All level 3 except for the crunches, level 2)

jollygirl 08-17-2006 08:02 AM

Morning all. Yeah, Red, don't be gone too long. hope things get better soon.

Did my yoga tape this morning, so that is a plus. Hip is feeling good, so back to workouts tomorrow.

Have a great on challenge day!

PinkSnowDays 08-18-2006 01:16 AM

Good day overall. Got a good workout in today and also ate way under my calories... I keep thinking I missed something big but I think I actually really ate healthy and reasonable today!!

Jolly - Glad to hear your hip is doing better! Don't over do it!

Day 3 - 100 crunches a day
Day 3 - 2000 calories or less a day
Day 3 - No eating after 10pm

jollygirl 08-18-2006 08:02 AM

Thanks, Pink. Good job on your challenges.

I am going to have to restart my challenges. Did the soda yesterday, and will have to today as well. Went to the fair late last night to hear SheDaisy. Quite fun. Didn't go hog wild on the eating, but did enough.

Didn't get a workout in this morning, as I needed sleep. Will try to hit thegym after work tonight.

Have a super day all

djstorey 08-18-2006 08:39 AM

Good morning all. I'm still here, just been really busy playing catch up after our trip. I will start my challenges on Monday being that we have a busy weekend coming up.

Yes, I did take some pics on our trip, but I have not even had time to unload them! I'm going to try to get that done since I'm curious to see how they turned out. Got some pics of a deer (a buck) that was in our camp and I'm hoping they turned out ok. He kept moving around so I'm not sure if I got a good shot. Also got lots of scenery pics that I hope are ok. (I'm not a very good photographer unfortunately!)

Keep up the good work everyone! I'll be back on regularly starting Monday.

redballoon 08-18-2006 04:49 PM

be careful what you ask for...

Hey there all! Things are and will be utter **** from here on out for me on the work front. There are HUGE changes being made there and I am a part of them. I asked. I got it. There are HUGE problems with the union and well, I can't even sleep at night, thus my lack of presence here. That said, if I keep things simple I can do this as well. I am going to start up a simple challenge soon. With everything going on, I know it is CRUCIAL that I stay strong and disciplined. Usually when things are crazy you want to give yourself room, but this is not something that is going to go away. It's going to be my everyday. I have to be able to deal with it ALL the time and the only way I see this being possible is to be extremely disciplined myself. So, I will start a new thread later....until then hope to see you here!

Pink, jolly, dj, trob thanks for sticking around. Apple, are you still with us and how's that no-beer challenge doing? Well, everyone, and others lurking, I'll be home soon! :sunny:

JCT Mom of 3 08-19-2006 12:54 AM

Hi all! I know I have been lost for a while... I keep thinking I am going to come back... but yeah. Anyway, I'm here.... and I am going to just start with two challenges. The first is 16oz of water BEFORE any soda.... I am so bad! The second is to stick to my protein-shake meal plan.... I have been doing it for 4 days now! YAY! Both challenges are level 3's.

RED! Sorry life is crazy for you.... hope we can catch up soon.
JOLLY!!! Hey girl! You are doing great!!!!!! I am so jealous of your SheDaisy night... I so want to go do something fun!

HI all else!

I am glad to be back all!!!!

Jess

trob 08-19-2006 09:56 PM

hey everyone, not much going on here...just trying to get my house in order before we all get back in school on monday. my the looks of it you would think that i had been on vacation all summer long. i am going to start my water challenge back on monday and then look at adding weekly.

red- i hope that you are able to deal with your work problems while at work and then leave them at the door when you go home each day.

dj- hope the pics turn out great. wildlife shots are so much fun to take, or in my case...watch people take. there are times when i am out with my dh when i think that the animals know that we are not there to hurt or maybe they just like getting their picture taken.

jolly- hope that you are all rested up from the fair and glad to hear that you had a good time.

Apple Blossom 08-20-2006 06:51 PM

Well, here's the scoop on the beer challenge....I had to restart after day one. Silly reason...my son got a hold of a bottle of beer and dropped it, breaking the seal so it HAD to be consumed. Can't let a good beer go to waste. THATS how pathetic i am....anyway, got through 2 days and paused...so today, if I make it through, will be day 3. I'm going to visit old friends in 3 weeks, if I can do this I will have a great reward!!! I think I can I think I can I think I can..........I'd also really like to drop 5 pounds by then, but I'm not quite convinced that I can do THAT. Maybe something will click....
Hope things work out well with work Red!

Glad you had fun at the fair Jolly. I took my kids to our county fair. It was quite a day.....
Speaking of kids we're having a break down here....
Hi JCT!!

redballoon 08-20-2006 06:56 PM

Heh there all. I'll be starting something today, don't know exactly what, maybe just the crunches to begin with. I haven't been doing them every day and I should be!

JCT, trob, Apple! Good to see you. I'm in the midst of some memo writing here, can't talk....It's not so much a mess at work concerning me. It's just a mess period and I'm being designated one of the key persons to fix it up!

Apple, you CAN do it! :strong:

djstorey 08-21-2006 08:49 AM

Well, another busy day today getting kids ready for school, but I'm starting my challenges anyways!

Back to what I was doing before,

Calories under 1800, level 3

Exercise 30 minutes per day, level 3

Once again, I let things throw me off my plan so I need to get back to basics.

Hope all are doing well. I'll catch up more with you all soon.

trob 08-22-2006 07:24 PM

looks like alls well with everyone. i have not started any challenges yet because i am finding that getting back into the routine of teaching is challenge enough right now. plus, i am a little worried about my water intake since i have days when i go three hours without a bathroom break.

redballoon 08-22-2006 07:34 PM

Hi there...things are still too up in the air and I didn't get off to my promised start, but will soon.. :^:

**************

dj -- :bravo: A big hand to you for sticking to your challenges despite the hassles! :cp: You're an inspiration! :sunny:

trob -- Hi there! Maybe you could do a different challenge, not water. Three hours with a bathroom break? :dunno: Do they lock you up somewhere? :lol3: Sounds tough!

djstorey 08-22-2006 07:52 PM

Well, so much for being an inspiration. I'm going to have to re-start my challenges and I am not going to start right away. My life just got turned upside down and I have been so busy! My husband suddenly might have a new, better job, which is great, however, we've been wanting to move closer to family who are in California and this job is in Wyoming! Wrong direction! :tantrum: I just don't see how we can turn down the money though, so I have been researching the towns in Wyoming that he has to chose from and have been trying to figure out which town might be best. I guess it's good we have a couple of choices anyways. I also found out that if this goes through, he'll be expected to start in about 4 weeks. :fr: We have so much to do if this happens. We've got to get this house ready to sell fast when and if we get the word and it sounds pretty promising.

Anyways, I'll keep in touch and I'm going to try to get back on track. I just can't promise anything right now.

Keep going everyone!

Apple Blossom 08-22-2006 08:41 PM

Well, day four is done! and I'm quite sure I can make it to the week-end. And hopefully by then I'll be too deeply into it to quit. I'd REALLY like to get this challenge done....If I were to pop a cold one, today cerainly would be the day. There has been a lot of tension between DH and I, mostly becuase I am not a good communicator. It sucks.:kickcan:
DJstorey...I hope everything works out for the best for you! Moving is always exciting and sad at the same time. Especially with kids! Please remember to take care of yourself! Keep us posted too!
Trob, and Red too! don't worry, you'll both be able to settle back in when things normalize! We understand!!

redballoon 08-22-2006 08:45 PM

go for five!!

Apple, Good for you!! :flow1: Popping one isn't going to help, you know that! The old cliche, don't beat yourself up. Try to think of other ways to relax. Believe you me, I KNOW how you feel and I am saying this to myself as well....with things at work, I am all too tempted to reach for the brew, but this is simply not the best way to handle things, I've got to take my wounds and treat them somehow else. You can do it! I'm rooting for you! :sunny:

trob 08-23-2006 08:17 PM

hey all, i did better on the water today but my schedule was much lighter. i am just going to have to figure out how to get all my water in, not just for challenges but because i know that it is good for me. i have been trying to decide what to challenge myself with but right now it is just going to have to be surviving.
red- yeah, i am pretty much locked up for part of the day.
when you have a classroom full of 10 year olds you can't just run to the bathroom whenever.
apple- way to go...keep up the good work and think positive thoughts.
dj- good luck with everything. hope whatever you want to happen...happens.

Apple Blossom 08-24-2006 02:41 AM

well, Day 5 done!
Thanks for the peppy post, Red!
Trob, I went back a little bit but couldn't find your challenge. Exactly how much water are you trying to consume? I'm sure you can work it in somehow. A gradual increase might be helpful. Maybe you could "train" your bladder that way too.;)

jollygirl 08-24-2006 06:11 AM

Good morning all. Well, after a very busy couple of days off, I am back. BAck to work today too. So I am sure today will be crazy.

I just wanted to post quick before I ran to work and the gym. It should be a run day, but we are having a mother of a storm here, and for some strange reason, I don't feel like being out in it :?: I am getting my butt to the gym to use the treadmill though, so that is something.

So, challenges . . .

1. Daily exercise, including abs/back.

2. Eat healthy - no soda, no unauthorized :censored:, at least 2 servings of fruits and vegetables.

Let me get a handle on these, and then I can add in something about eating out. My pocketbook needs it.

Have a super day all

redballoon 08-24-2006 08:08 AM

eyeing a challenge....

Hi there, all! Just trying to keep posting...still just not up to a challenge...I know, I know...I said I would...bear with me. :^:

**************

jolly -- Glad to hear you're getting to the gym. I like the treadmill too, just allows you to zone out and keep going. Good luck on your challenges. They sound like tough ones! :strong:

Apple -- :bravo: Excellent work! Wish I could say the same about myself..... ;)

trob -- Your job sounds tough. I hadn't realized your were working with 10-year-olds. I hear you on the just "surviving" type of days... :^: Best of luck to you! :goodluck:

dj -- Sounds like you really have a lot happening. I think Wyoming is a beautiful state. I'd once gone over and done a story from here on the Outlaw Trail. Hope you can decide on a nice place. I'll be going through a huge change myself, not moving or anything, but work related..I know how you must feel. Good luck and I hope you can be back with us at some point in the not-too-distant future!

JCT -- Where are you? :listen:

Pink?? :dunno: Come on in and post! :)

djstorey 08-24-2006 08:40 AM

Thanks Red, Trob and Apple! Yeah, it's kind of a funny situation, we really need the money and it's a good paying job and the benefits are great. This is the kind of job my husband could retire from, it's just taking us so far away from our families! I keep trying to decide what's more important, but both are. I guess though, if we're doing better financially, we could afford to go visit more often so that might be good, I'd just rather live closer. I'm just going to try to stay cool, and wait for the company to let us know if they decide to hire my husband and see what exactly the offer is. And yes, some areas of Wyoming are beautiful which does help.

Anyways, I'm giving myself at least a few more days before I try to start up my challenges again. I'm just not really in the mood to spend time logging calories and I have been really busy trying to figure out the logistics of moving. Maybe by next week, I'll be more mentally ready to think about challenges again.

Red
- I sure hope your changes work out well for you! Glad to see you still popping in here even though your not doing challenges either!

Trob - Good luck with that water situation! Maybe as you get back into a routine and things calm down, you'll figure something out.

Apple - keep positive thoughts going! I know it can be hard when you're having issues at home, but think of the good you're doing for yourself!

Have a great day everyone!

justkeepswimming 08-24-2006 02:53 PM

Hello ladies,

It's been awhile since I have posted. I would like to start a challenge. I am only going to do one challenge at this time, since everytime I get ahead of myself and try to do too many at once and mess it all up:stress: .

I am challenging myself to walk everyday. Doesn't matter how far or how long right now, I just have to fit it in somewhere.:goodluck:

I'll check in tomorrow. Good luck to all.

Tina

redballoon 08-24-2006 06:36 PM

rain, rain...

Morning all. Pouring down rain here! I hope the trains don't get flooded and stop. :^:

*************

dj -- From what you've said, I think you should take the job. It sounds like a great opportunity and they don't come that often. As you pointed out, the extra money can have you visiting the families more or even bringing them to you. Also, your husband can always quit if it is really not working out. But yes, it hasn't even been decided, so stay cool and sit tight. I'm surprised that, with everything, you're even considering doing challenges. Good for you. You're staying proactive and that is important! :strong: Ride the wave, don't let it knock you under.

swimming -- Hi there! Good to hear from you again. I'm glad you're back with us and up for a challenge. That's a good attitude to decide to bite off what you can chew and no more. Walking is a great start. Best of luck! :goodluck:

:rain:

trob 08-25-2006 10:23 PM

apple- i was drinking 64 oz at day which is not really that much for me but with my schedule the way it is this year (i teach art) my breaks are few and far between.

red- hope the rain lets up so that you don't have to swim to work.

dj- just take it one day at a time. i have always thought that what is supposed to happen will happen.

jolly- keep up the good work!! i wish that i could be as committed as you.

djstorey 08-26-2006 08:54 AM

Morning all!

Hi Swimming! Glad to see you picking up a challenge. Walking is great. It's helped me a lot!

Red - Yes, as long as the actual offer is as good as what they were telling my husband, we'll probably accept. Unless of course, we find something in the meantime that we like better.

You said you had been to Wyoming, what part? I don't know about the outlaw trail.

Trob - Yes, one day at a time. I agree. I guess I've just needed some time to accept all the new possible changes. If it happens, it happens. We'll take it from there.

Have a great day everyone!

redballoon 08-27-2006 07:22 AM

Hi all! Ok, the fun and games are over! I am starting tomorrow. Crunch challenge started today!! And I did them! :cp:

trob, dj, talk to you later...gotta handle some work here! Hope you're doing OK!
Others? :listen: Talk to me!

sweet_yellow 08-27-2006 01:50 PM

doing really well at this!

Red Balloon, I picked up your 21 day challenge. It has been two weeks now.
I have been posting in the race to 199. I am 7 pounds away from winning the race!

My goals are:
1. exercise every day (usually means 2 miles on the treadmill)
2. eat right
3. keep a food log

So here I am at:

14/8/1

trob 08-27-2006 02:43 PM

okay guys, i have decided to keep my challenges pretty easy for right now. i am not sure if my walking challenge will fit into the 21 day plan but maybe it will work.

challenges...starting monday, aug. 28
keep a food journal- level 3
walk 10,000 steps at least 5 times days a week- level 3
drink water 16 oz with every meal- level 1
100 crunches- level 3

i am also starting the 18 week challenge and my goal there is to be 175 by new years day. that means that i need to loose just under 2 lbs per week.
wish me luck.

trob 08-27-2006 02:46 PM

deanna- what is the link to the race to 199. i have searched but can't seem to find it. thanx, trob

Nixxie 08-27-2006 02:51 PM

This sounds GREAT!!!

I will start my 21-day challenge tomorrow morning (right after I figure out what my challenges are)!!!
