Good Saturday morning girls! I am hoping no rain today. I barely got a workout in the pool yesterday. It rained on me some, but I was wet anyway, right?
Jean: I hope your friend gets good news instead of bad. It is always scary to have a mass anywhere, but the things it does to you in that reason is awful. That is where my fil had his cancer and how that man suffered. That was 30 years ago though and they have made such great strides since then. I will say a prayer for her. Hope you enjoy your summer off. Have fun at the wedding today! I have the dreaded commissary to look forward to sometime this weekend. Jack wants to go see Over the Hedge so we are going to a matinee today I think. That's all the news from around here. Hope everyone has a nice weekend! Faye |
Good Evening, Flowers! I am on my way to bed but wanted to check in with you first. It's been a sunny warm day in my corner of the world; they are predicting scattered thunderstorms for later tonight. I wasn't busy in the gift shop this morning but did have my usual inquiries as to when the coffee shop would open . . . it doesn't on the weekends. I sold $55 worth of stuff so it wasn't a total loss. The wedding was definitely a musical one! There was a string quartet, the guys vocal quartet, two vocal soloists, two trumpet players (trumpetists?), the organist, and a pianist. The mother of the groom is a music teacher at the middle school so she knew how to pick the musicians and the music. The guys sang The Lord's Prayer and it just gave me goose bumps, maybe because I knew it better than the other songs they sang. They got lots of "congrats" at the reception. Our church holds 525 comfortably and it was full. The meal at the reception included 4 different kinds of salads, fresh green beans, new potatoes, chicken breast, prime rib, rolls, and wedding cake. I would say most of those attending the ceremony came for the reception as well as some who came to the reception, but weren't at the church.
"Gma" -- Thank you for the prayers for my friend, Barb. :) As she said in my email she needs all of the prayers she can get. What kind of movie is 'Over the Hedge' . . . funny? Have a super Sunday tomorrow! I'm heading for bed! Jean -- from Iowa! |
Good early morning. I awoke all congested so I thought getting up might help "drain" me and I might be able to go back to bed. I think a lot of it is our cat, but I love him too much to give him up.
Jean: Boy, that is a lot of music. Weddings do seem to drag on so much anymore, though I haven't been to one since my girlfriend got married for the third time a couple years ago. She has a corker for an adopted dd and the woman was bossing everyone about. I had told her I couldn't come then sent a letter to her other dd and told her I would be there and it was supposed to be a surprise. The big mouth adopted dd almost spoiled it. I don't see this friend much and we have been friends since I met her in Junior High School. In fact, I haven't seen her since she got married and have lost her email. I sent her several and wonder if this new husband is controlling since I never hear from her. He seemed like a nice enough guy (this was his second marriage with CHILDREN) but she picked two stinkers before him so who knows? It is funny, she was a spoiled, sweet only child of over 40 first time parents and had this wonderful stable life but picked awful husbands and here I was with a totally dysfunctional life and messed up and have this tremendous man who is so very good for me. So I guess those who say that people living that kind of life don't function normally as adults aren't always right. Though the fact I asked God to pick me a husband might have had a great deal to do with the right one! :) Over the Hedge is a childrens movie. It was very cute and very funny. It is not a cartoon, but the fancy animation like Monsters, INC was. We really enjoyed it. I thought the theater would have been full of kids at a Saturday afternoon matinee, but most of the people were adults. It was about some forest animals who awake from hibernation and find a hedge running along their forest and on the other side a huge housing complex is now there instead of the rest of the forest. They don't know what they will do about gathering food for the winter again and this raccoon (voice done by Bruce Willis) comes along and talks them into going through the hedge and getting food out of the humans' houses. He has an ulterior motive as he tried to steal a huge amount of food, a red wagon and a cooler from a bear and it gets run over by a semi and smooshed. The bear catches him and threatens him that he has one week when the full moon comes out to replace everything or he will kill him. He gets the animals to help him gather the food with them thinking it is for them, but he is going to take it all, etc, etc. It has some really funny stuff in it. Your older grandson would probably really like it. I guess I will do some morning chores, read a little then go back to bed. I may skip the swimming today all together, but who knows? Have a great Sunday! Faye |
