Sticking With It - Week 1
Sorry, I should have posted this thread yesterday, but we were busy all day.
My good news is that I have been exercising pretty regularly and doing OK with the eating. I thought the scale moved a bit on Sunday, but now it's back up again. I don't know what's going on. Anyway, yesterday I walked over 4 miles with my kids in the double stroller. I logged over 10,000 steps for the day. How are you doing? |
I´m so excited to be the first to post on week 1! I had a bad few days over the weekend and yesterday. The day before I start and the 1st day of my period I want to eat everything in sight. Well, I didn´t eat everything, but there was chocolate involved. I haven´t gained anything, but I obviously haven´t lost either. I´m getting my butt onto the treadmill in a few minutes to log on my 2 miles. I´m starting a new running training schedule to be able to run a 10k at a decent pace (less than a 10min mile) in 4 months. Wish me luck!

Sticking with it
Day 1 went well. I chose the "Carb Addict Diet" It was one of the first Carb diets that came out years ago and I bought the book but never did it. :?: Instead I tried all the other fad diets that friends told me about. :dizzy:
Many pounds later I have decided that before I bought or tried another diet I would at least try this since I've had the book forever. I lost 4 pounds this morning:carrot: but I do tend to lose quick the first few days and then come to a halt shortly there after. So I'm not going to change my scales until a week has gone by. I pulled out my bike and will start riding each day. Good luck everyone Potato |
Good morning! I've been pretty good about eating right...last week was period week, so I didn't lose any weight...no weight gain either WOOHOO!! I did lose quite a few inches though, so I'm assuming my weight not moving is cause of water retention. I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone here better. Have a great day!
|
Sticking with it
Good for you Jeanne. If you can walk 4 miles with kids :running: then surely I can commit to riding my bike.
Yea Holly, 10K? :woops: I have trouble doing the 10B (10 steps to my bike):bike2: You go girl!! Now Hpnotg, inches are so much better!!! :belly: I can't wait to see mine disappearing. Keep up the good work and keep me posted. It makes me stay motivated 1 day at a time! :goodluck: Potato |
Good evening! Hope everyone had a successful day. I was hungrier than usual today...I thankfully was able to stay away from the junk though. See you tomorrow :)

Late as usual!
Saw the posting for Sticking with it and thought it was for next week - doh. Hope its not too late to join? Well this week so far has not been good. Spent the last two days with my son at a school golf tournament - you know what that means - golf shack food - hot dogs, hamburgers and fries. Jeeze. Well today is a new day - Wednesday - and I will officially start my week now. I am packing my gym bag and will start with a bike ride and end with a light weight workout and then a lovely long shower for my aching muscles. It is my mom's 80th Birthday today so am planning to take her for lunch. Another minefield to negotiate but hopefully I will make some good choices. Hope everyone is doing well this week and will post again later on.

Good Morning Everyone
Happy Hump Day! So far for me this week is going pretty good. I have stayed within my calorie count and have stuck to working out twice a day for the last 3 days. TOM decided to appear this morning and I'm feeling a little on the crabby side this morning, which is unusual for me. Usually I don't suffer from any of the symptoms of TOM but today is different. So far now just trying to work out of this funky mood this morning. Hope everyone is doing well. Talk to all soon. |
sticking with it
Hi everyone,
I'm in a good mood this morning! I lost 7 pounds.:cheer: Welcome Cybersis I'm glad you found us. Angel I still haven't exercised yet. Although my bike is at least on my front porch instead of in the garage. I'm mentally preparing mind so I can actually exercise my physical body. Lets get a challenge going between all of us. :sumo: That should be fun. Potato |
Hey, Well i just posted on the other forum and if id bother to read all of it id of known u had moved over to here.
So. heres goes again. Im currently at 215lbs, ive dropped 14lbs since join the 3FC website a couple of months ago. and i was stuck. maybe i think this is because i tend to cheat alot. i always and mean always say in my head when im tucking into summin i shouldnt. oh tomorrows another day. i will start then. haha. I really do lack in willpower, so i got up on monday morning and yet again thought yes ill start dieting again. and 3 days later.. lol yes i know its not long. im still sticking to it. i normally give up the same day. So i set myself a challenge to get down to the 200lb mark by july 2nd i think it was. i seriously dnt remember the last time i was 200lbs so that will be a good achievement to me. So ill leave it at that for now. So how is everyone?. what is there goals?. i really hope you all dont think im just pushing my way in here. |
Happy Wednesday ladies!!! Nothing much going on today yet. Gotta work later.
:welcome3: emzi_bops, Angel and Karen! Glad to have you :) |
sticking with it
:wel3fc:
Welcome Emzi Bop Thanks hpnotq I totally forgot about memorial day until I saw your goal!! I think I am going to make a bunch of low carb meals and freeze them so I don't cheat this weekend. My husband will be off for 4 days and he tends to "unwittingly" sabotage me. This way I can get prepared. Potato |
Hi everyone~
I like the name of this thread, that is basically my problem~ sticking with it:( and I like the fact that it is a new thread so it is a lot easier to get to know everybody.:D Do you have room for 1 more? |
The more the merrier. Welcome Elyn!
Great aviator picture. |
The closer we get to memorial day, the more I think I won't be making that goal :(
|
Don't say that! :nono: Look at what you've already lost!!
You are where I am at. I want to have 10 pounds off by Memorial day and that is alot. But with the off chance we DON'T do it then we can enjoy the amount we did lose!! :cp: Now as a woman we are allowed 1 minute to have a pity party. The minute is up. We have 5 days. Take a look at what you are eating if you have been very restrictive then maybe its time to trick your body into thinking you are not on a diet. If you have been very lacks. Then see where you can cut back. Of course I know you know all of this but that's what we are here for. To motivate each other to success. Remember me when its my bad day. Only allow me 1 minute to have a pity party :tantrum: Potato |
Potato you're funny.LOL:rofl:
Love the 1 minute pity party theory.:tantrum: |
Sticking with it week 1
Oh I get it Angel! "TOM"? :joker: I thought he was your husband or boyfriend that you were mad at.
I imagine he's like my "Aunt Flo" She's a witch when she shows up! I saw we had a bunch of new goal setters! :welcome: Potato |
LOL.
That's funny. I usually refer to it as Aunt Flo too. But I've not seen anyone else refer to it as that so I didn't know if anyone else called it that. I looked at my original post and yah it looks like I was mad at some man named Tom because he came over to my house. Thanks for making me laugh. |
Hi all. I decided that I might as well post instead of just reading. For the past 3 days I've managed to stay just below my calorie target amount. I haven't been anywhere so I've avoided my usual problem of fast food. However, I have been hit by the late night munchies. I've dealt with that by finding something to eat that is around 100 calories. That way it can't do too much damage.
|
Hey I got to noticing the red envelopes different groups had and realized that a red envelope means hot Thread: :hot: You need at least 20 replies or 200 views. We are at 19. We are a Hot Thread!!! So since I love to achieve new things I figured I'd be number 20!!!!:woo:
Give me a prize!!!! :queen: Potato |
hey, i started a diet monday but just noticed this group today. i'm trying to be good but this morning my sister got me to go for a walk with her.. that ended with mocha smoothies. *shakes fist* no change yet with the scale, but i haven't really gotten into this full swing yet.
|
Danger time is coming!
Have managed pretty well so far today. Took my mom and sister to Swiss Chalet for lunch and I had the new Garden 1/4 chicken dinner - 1/4 chicken breast with salad and mixed veggies - not too bad. I also biked for 60 minutes and did light weights for 20 - so its been a good day so far. Dinner will be a veggie stir fry with rice and I plan to have that around 7 to beat some of the late night munchies.
My goal for this group is too lose the 10 - 15 pounds I have regained over the past year. I want to start eating better and sticking to my exercise routine. Hoping the summer weather will keep me motivated. How was everyone's day? and from one newbie to another I welcome all the new members. Its so much better having a larger group - more encouragement and support to go around. |
This is as good a spot as any to jump in with both feet. I have been over weight for as long as I can remember (although there are pics of me as a skinny gradeschooler)
I have recently been diagnosed as insulin resistant and have started medication as well as been advised to get more exercise and eat healthier. So as of yeaterday I'm bicycling to work (2 miles) every morning. Of course I'm trying to implement dietary changes as well. I have always had problems sticking to diet plans such as south Beach, beacause I find them way too restrictive. I really can't afford to make one meal for me and another for my family, so I'm mostly just trying to watch my portion sizes for the moment as well as reducing sugars and caffeine. WE CAN DO IT!!!!!!! |
Well I managed to walk to and from "long walk park"(as my DD calls it) again. All total, it is about a 4.5 mile walk. One reason the walk doesn't bother me so much is that I let the kids play at the park for an hour or so so my legs can recover from the walk there. LOL
The only problem with the walk is that my DD always wants to get ice cream on the way home. (It is a slight detour to hit the ice cream store.) If I get my DD ice cream, I have to get it for my DS too. Being that he's only 13 mo. old, he doesn't quite finish the cup so I am in the habit of helping him out (heaven forbid, we waste any ice cream). But honestly, he eats the majority of the ice cream. Maybe I have to start "forgetting" my wallet so we don't indulge any longer. |
Thank you my dear potato! Pity party over...let's hit that memorial day goal :)
|
Hi,
Mandi/27 grad student, just learning to count calories and exercise. No kids, no significant other, no real life outside the library ;) Just working this summer though, so I want to start changing bad habits. Lost 8 lb so far. best luck to all this week! Namaste |
I really do sit here and think about doing exercise all the time, like ive sat for the past 5 minutes thinkin about it while catching up on this thread. but thats all i ever do.. lol. think. the other day i was like. right ill start with 50 sit ups a day. and the only sit ups ive done. its getting my lazy backside up off a chair. At the minute im not working either, as hairdressing is so hard to get into. 2 job interviews tho :). ok. back to my rant. so yeah. i decided with not working id exercise when i have nothing to do, that is still yet to come hahah. Ill sit here on the computer for the next hr lookin at silly little diets that people come up with. have a shower and get myself sorted. baring in mind its nearly 1:30pm here. then decide what to do with my day. The weathers getting warmer outside here so i could go for a walk.... maybe just maybe i will do that. ill post later if i do.
|
Oh and another thing?. memorial day? when and what is it? i live in the UK so i dnt really know. x
|
I hope you'll allow me to join in, too. I am returning to the straight and narrow path after about six months of wandering far afield and regaining about 10 lbs. of the weight I had lost. I'm actually pleased I didn't regain it ALL but obviously I have a long way to go to get back to a healthy weight!
What I'm finding extremely helpful right now is a subliminal weight loss DVD that I found on eBay. The idea is that you watch this DVD every day for 30 days. It's about 20 minutes long and has beautiful scenes of running water, waterfalls, etc. There are 12 or 15 different messages that are supportive of a healthier lifestyle like "I drink plenty of water" and "I eat less sugar and fat" and "I enjoy fruits and vegetables." It has a companion audiotape that I listen to as I fall asleep at night that has the same messages. After Day 2, I noticed I was starting to drink water, which is definitely not my favorite beverage! After Day 3, I made a trip to the grocery store and re-stocked my kitchen with fresh fruits and vegies and did NOT bring home any more of the foods I traditionally binge on. And the next day I started using my Weight Watchers Online membership again and keeping track of my food intake. I'm not exercising yet but that's gonna come too! My weigh-in is Monday but I'm already feeling better knowing I'm doing what's good for myself. I can't promise to be a real active poster but I'll chime in every now and then! __________________ |
emzi- memorial day is may 29th, aka the last monday in may.
today i'm planning to actually do some serious walking- a couple miles hopefully. last night i went to the boyfriend's and he ordered pizzas. :nono: so yesterday didn't turn out so good at all. the boy is nice and supportive in theory when i tell him i'm trying to lose weight.. but when i tell him i don't want any pizza he says, 'no, i'm getting you one, what kind do you want?' so i'm gonna have to watch myself when i'm over at his house. |
Sticking with it
:welcome:
all of you who have just joined us!! Good morning everyone. :goodvibes (or afternoon for some of you:D ) Memorial day is when we recognize our fallen soldiers who died so we can live free. :woo: My good morning yesterday turned into a great evening! I am really "sticking with it" I LOVE THIS DIET!! :hun: "don't hate me" Now I realize that this is just week one and that's really the easiest week to lose the most but for me its not the "losing weight" that got me the first week its always the dread that I have knowing I must do this another week. :fr: That's why I never make it. But this weeks been great. I have all of you :grouphug: (group hug) and I can eat whatever I want at least once a day. :jeno: My goal is to lose 2-3 pounds a week. But I wanted to shed 10 pounds by Memorial day first. To give me a boost. For me I lose most weight (4-7 pounds) the first week because of water. I'm not usally on the diet by the second week!:corn: According to this book, its like your mind is tricking your body. That's okay for me because for years my body has been tricking my mind into believing I am a size 8. :belly: Potato |
Hi everyone~
Potato~ Are you on the Carb addict diet by Drs. Richard and Rachel Heller? I don't have that book, but I have their 2nd book "Healthy for Life". I've had it for many years, but never tried it. Are you familiar with this book? |
sticking with it
Yes I have the old book.:cp:
I have had it for years but never tried it. I kept doing other programs. I saw it one day and decided before I bought anything else I would at least give this a shot. There are some pitfalls. Don't change your reward meal. Meaning one day your reward meal will be at dinner and the next day Lunch. Keep it all the same unless its a must. If you change your reward meal each day or week then you are letting your mind think you can eat whatever you want when ever you want and before long you are off the diet.:corn: Now you are suppose to have a healthy balanced meal on the reward meal but you can have "real" food and "real" dessert! Also you must eat the reward meal within one hour of begining the meal. Yesterday I had a low carb Break( 3 bacon 2 fried eggs and coffee) then a salad for lunch. I saw a candy bar (snickers with almonds) instead of eating eat I saved it for my reward meal at dinner. :carrot: The funny thing was I only ate half. I really didn't want it. Sense I am a surgarholic and love snacking in between this is amazing to me. :spin: Anyway, its only been the first week only time will tell. :goodscale |
I finally found my way to the site. I would like to know how every got the weight line scales at the bottom. and the cute pictures by your names?

Been doing WW for 7 months and have lost 15 lbs. starting to get discouraged, and give up. i am so excited to join in on a new group and to get the much needed support. i was up 1.4 lbs. this week, so i am trying my best to "stick w/ it" and lose it this week. |
sticking with it
Hooray you've joined us!:woo:
15 pounds?! Yeah!!:cheer: Look at it this way. You have kept 15 pounds off for almost 7 months! That is awesome and nothing to get discouraged about. :goodscale The closer you get to your goal weight the harder its seems to get it off and you may just have to exercise alittle more. :woops: I was homebound yesterday and it looks like I am again today so I will be checking in and out of the website as I clean my house. :comp: I could go ride my bike. No excuse today since I have plenty of time. :bike2: Have a great memorial! :goodluck: Potato |
Happy Thursday everyone! Hope yall are doing alright...I think my biggest problem is that I slacked off on my water drinking...so I'm renewing my water goal and drinking as much as I can. I saw a report on the news about a guy doing the Before, During and After diet and he lost 70 lbs eating anything he wanted. Hope yall have a fantastic day! I'll try to check in sometime later this afternoon.
|
Okay yall...I set myself a goal to drink 3 big tumblers of water before I pick my husband up from work at 4:00....I just finished tumbler number 2 woohoo. Talk to yall soon.
