Pointer Sistas Challenge
 
So this is a challenge for all the sisters...(I can't talk gangsta...it just doesn't come out sounding right)

The rules are simple... you get to earn 4 points per day, that is a total of 28 point per week. If you get 25 points or more, give yourself a reward. It doesn't have to be big, a new lipstick, pocket book, a pedicure, or time for you, just you.
You can earn 1 point for drinking all your water, 1 point for eating clean, 1 point for your workout, and 1 point for doing what ever you forget or avoid. ie: taking your vitamins, or tracking all your food intake...this is something you can decide.
At the end of the week tally up your points. Make this fun, and remember you do deserve a reward...:hug:

I LOVE this idea!! I'm in. I will start this tomorrow. I'm not sure what I think it the amount of water that I need to be getting in, but I'll figure it out.

Hello!! I'm ready to start this. So here is what I have planned for today.

Gazelle =1pt
80oz of water =1pt
Eating veggies =1pt
Vitamins in =1pt

End of week reward=New journal (instead of spiral notebook!)


The biggest challege will be the veggies!! I try always to eat some veggies a day...but would prefer it to be eat veggies per meal. Will try to work up to that. The farms are opening up and fresh veggies are available!!

Thanks for this challenge Angie! Sounds like fun and I hope I get to at least 25pts by the end of the week!

I'm in, too. :yes: Mine will be food, exercise, water, and a vitamin.
Also, I think we need to say - no splitting points, ok? Either you stay OP, or not, either you did your workout, or not, etc. Does that sound fair?

I'm so pumped about this!!:carrot: Not sure what my reward will be. Maybe a new book.

I will probably sound dumb with this question but what are we talking about eating "clean" I am thinking nothing fried, high sugar, high fat, etc or is it "clean" food according to the Bible???

Jules, it's not a dumb question at all. Clean eating means following your own program to the letter. WW, South Beach, Sonoma, calorie counting, etc. Or as in Marti's case, just adding veggies. Whatever you challenge yourself to, that's what you need to do. Mine is to stay OP w/Weight Watchers.

Mind if I join ladies? I miss the other challenge thread and this one sounds fun. Are you keeping track daily or just weekly?

Exercise-1 pt.
Water-4 16.9 oz bottles-1 pt.
Vitamins-1 pt.
Eating clean-1 pt.

I've got 3 points so far for the day. I've eaten clean so far but there is still dinner so won't count that yet.

I can even start today...or should we all have the same starting day?

If I am starting on Tues. I got all 4 points today.

I think my reward this week will be a new mouse pad.

Well here I am....hanging my head in shame.:o I only got 2 out of the 4 pts I was aiming for!

Got my exercise and I got the vitamin down...but not enough water or any veggies! Now how do you suppose I'm going to get that new journal???

Will work on it better tomorrow. Will try for the same thing...only I'm going to cut the water intake and work my way up. So instead of 80oz. I will try for 40.

Glad to see you Cristina, Sue ,Jane, and Jules!:grouphug: Now where is the gal who started this challenge???

Okay today will be my day 1 since Jane was kind enough to explain to me the "clean" part. (I have to remember that my Nanny used to say "the only stupid question is the one not asked!")

Here's my list:

Water- :drool: :rain:8-10 8 oz servings

Calories- :hun: :eating2: everything written down & figured up

Exercise- :carrot: :running: Slim-n-Tone M-W-F, crunches, leg lifts or power walks T-Th-Sun with Saturdays off (I am thinking that is okay to lose a point for exercise one day a week- maybe it will keep me more motivated the rest of the week)

Vitamins--:crazy:B Complex to help me with my stress levels which seems to make me gain no matter how good I do on everything else and a Multi w/calcium and iron :strong: (to help with my borderline anemia)

Marti - I agree totally with Jules!

I got all 4 points for yesterday. :carrot: I didn't want to do the Gazelle, but I knew I had to if I wanted the point, lol. I will alternate exercise, and work my upper body every other day. Oh yeah - I got the vitamin bottle out and set in in the kitchen, where I can see it, and like yesterday, I'll take one with my supper every night.

Weekly total = 4 of 4 possible.

It's a nice thought gals but I'm going to do this the right way and work for that journal!:D
So today will be the kind of the same:

30mins Gazelle/Exercise =1pt
40oz of water =1pt
Eating veggies/Fruits =1pt
Vitamins in =1pt


Pretty much the same but if I don't get my 30mins on gazelle it's got to be 30mins of something. And if no veggies...it's got to be fruit!

So....2pts so far......here is to making it 6 by the end of the day!

Tuesday=4 pts.
Wed, so far 1 pt. for exercise, 1 pt. for vitamins and the eating is coming along so far. And have one bottle of water to go for the day. May actually get in five today. Again, still have dinner to go but I have it planned. DD wants fried chicken so will fix that for her and DH and I am having a lean cusine pizza.

So far today, I've earned all 4 points, but won't count them until morning in case I go berserk and pig out later. I don't think it will happen, but you never know, lol. Controlling my portions at suppertime was hard. We had a casserole tonight that I really, really like, and only made it at Katie's request since she's missed my cooking. There are leftovers of it and I don't think I'll be able to sleep with that stuff in the house. I think I'll ask Neal to take it to Mary's. Staying OP is not easy sometimes. My exercise today was unloading all those blocks, and doing lots of yard work. Much harder than the gazelle yesterday, lol. I'll be back with day 2's total tomorrow.

I made it through yesteday by sending the casserole to Mary's. You can't eat what's not in the house, right? Today will be a challenge because we're going to a dinner at church tonight in honor of the music people. (Neal plays the guitar sometimes at church) I have no idea what's on the menu, but am allowing 10 points for it, and can figure it up once I get there. I'm thinking 5 for the meat, 3 for starch (potato or pasta) and 0 for free veggies 2 for fruit or other veggie.

Veggies, water, and vitamin. Ran out of time after cleaning kitchen to hope on the gazelle!!

Same plan today as yesterday. Will change it up a bit next week for some variety!

Wed-4 pts.
Thursday-3 pts. so far. Have all my water down plus an extra bottle. For some reason I was really thirsty at while working out this morning and only take one bottle with me. So had to buy a bottle at It Figure. So far that's 5 bottles for the day! :carrot: Eating is going good but not sure what is for dinner. Going to the neighbors party and not sure what food she will have-she did say there will be lots and she has a gourmet food business! So, we'll see.

Weekly total=8 (so far, not counting today)

Was thinking about this and decided...I will finish the week, well until Monday. Will count Tues-Sund for week 1 and then start the week 2 on Monday since that is the beginning of my week and also WI. So I will be short pts. for the 1st week probably. Oh well, we'll see. I should have waited and started on Monday to begin with, just wasn't thinking.

Well, I did great at the dinner, but then I had buttered toast when I got home, which was NOT included in on my points. And I didn't go the gazelle, either. I started to tell you that I didn't have time, but we all know that we set our own priorities, right? Somehow, I made time for the Will and Grace finale. On the bright side, I did drink my water, and took my vitamin, too. I really need to take water out of the challenge, since I don't have a problem with that. Anyway, only 2 points for me today.

Total so far this week: 10 of 12 possible.

Ok...have to admit, this week is a bust!

I got my water in yesterday and that was it. I didn't even get the vitamin in which is the easiest thing to do!!

1pt. yesterday!

Now this weekend I won't be paying much attention to anything but my daughter....so I will restart by Monday. I will also start a fresh new thread so it's easier to keep track of things.

Does that sound doable for everyone??

Haven't checked in, but I have kept track. I got all 4 points on Wed. and only 3 on Thurs. (no exercise)

I'm with you Cristina on ending the week on Sun. I also started on Tues. I am going to continue to try to pour on the points until Sun. even though I won't hit 25....but it will be easier to start the challenge and the WI on the same day.

Starting a new thread each Monday sounds like a really good idea to me, too. Angie, what do you think about that, since you're the one who started the thread?

I got all 4 yesterday, if I count the yard work as my exercise. I do so much better with that kind of exercise, if you've noticed.

Sue - when I have pizza, I eat something "free" or nearly free with it to help fill me up. Just a thought. You're still doing well, though.

So our goal for this week is 24 points for perfect, instead of 28, right? Or how many to get the reward?

So far, I've got 14 out of 16 possible.

Got some real good vitamins at the health food store yeaterday called Alive and upgraded my b vitamin to a b-complex specifically for stress--feeling better already--drinking 80 to 100 oz of water seems to make me feel better too!! Been using the Crystal Light to go--love the peach tea--counting the added calories and still trying to drink at least 20 oz of just plain water. Unless I step it up I am not going to get my 24 points in--I may just start fresh and use Mondays as Day 1 each week. I have been bad on the exercise!!

Quick post today since I need to get the family up.

Yesterday I managed to get 3 pts!!

Add that to my 6 and I have 9. Definately no reward this week but definately will work on it better next week!!

Marti...I too like the idea of starting a new thread on Monday, a lot easier to keep up.

So, today is day 5 and so far, so good. Thursday did good with the food so that is another point added. Friday, another 4, got my exercise in, took vitamins, drank 5 bottles of water and the food was right on! :carrot: Now today is a different story, lol! Did good until the movie where I did have some popcorn and whoppers, :nono: But I figured today was a bust on the food anyway with us BBQ'ing later. Not so much the food, but the cake and ice cream. I am having some because I didn't have any for my BD/anniversary. Told V not to buy any because I didn't want it twice. So...I did get my 3 mile walk in, already had my four bottles of water and may have another and took my vitamins, so I guess three out of four isn't so bad.

Total for week so far: 16

Yesterday I got 3 points, (no exercise) and today I already know that I'm only getting 2 points. I went over points and didn't get exercise again. Thank goodness for water and vitamins, lol.

So that gives me only 19 out of 24 possible. Not enough for a reward this week. :dizzy:

Well, Sat. I didn't get exercise and I ate poorly, so 2 points and today I got all 4. So I was short of the goal. :( I have a feeling I will need to change my point system. I have no trouble getting my vitamins. My big challenges are food and exercise. I think I will give 1 point for food, 1 point for walking, 1 point for an extra 15 minute exercise daily and 1 point for liquid. I am afraid if I don't keep up the liquid that will slip...but I know I will take my vitamins. Just seems like I need more exercise. (and if I do good at 15 minutes I will add more next week.) Gotta shake it up somehow.
