Motivational Tidbits

Here are a few motivational ideas that I wanted to share. Even if you've seen some of them before, it may help to reread them.

Next year, you'll wish you started today.

If it's to be, it's up to me.

If you fail to plan, you plan to fail.

Don't wail on the scale if you cheat when you eat.

After me, you first.

Write it if you bite it.

Whether you think you can, or you think you can't, you're right!

Dear Lord, put your arm around my shoulder and your hand over my mouth.

Fake it until you make it.

Anyone else have a saying or story that could motivate others on their weight loss journey?

My favorites have been:

If not now, when?

and

Life is not a dress rehearsal.

 Hi Susan! I love your avatar...Napoleon rocks! :)

Here are my quotes:

We never repent of having eaten too little. -- Thomas Jefferson

Never, never, never, never quit. -- Winston Churchill

Failure is giving up what we want most for what we want now.
and
Striving for excellence is motivating, striving for perfection is demoralizing
-Harriet Braiker

('sides, it's not about being PERFECT on a particular diet, it's about learning to permanently change your lifestyle so that you become slender and HEALTHY) ;)

Laughter IS the best medicine! (not only burns calories, but releases endorphins - what's not to like?) :D

The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. Attitude, to me, is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, the education, the money, than circumstances, than failure, than successes, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness or skill. It will make or break a company... a church... a home. The remarkable thing is we have a choice everyday regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past... we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude. I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% of how I react to it. And so it is with you... we are in charge of our Attitudes.” ~Charles Swindoll

Amazing ,Charles Swindoll. I love that passage. Introduced to it 5 years ago from my friend Brian who died after almost reaching his goal weight. His story inspires me still.

Katie Can't beat Napoleon! "I caught you a delicious bass".....that kind of inspires me too.lol jk....:D

Wow! These are all great!
I will have to come back when I have one to share!

jules1216 05-17-2006 01:08 PM

It's not the minutes spent at the table that put on weight, it's the seconds!

jules1216 05-17-2006 10:47 PM

for me it is much easier to say no to the first cookie than the second....
(seen on another poster's signature but soo true for me at least)

I saw this in a 3FC member's signature recently, and think it's food for thought.

5 ways to be happy:
1. Free your heart from hatred.
2. Free your mind from worries.
3. Live simply.
4. Give more.
5. Expect less.

(Tai Sheridan -ZenKettle)

I read this on my parents board, I thought it was a nice one - even though not really for weight loss.

"I am beginning to learn that it is the sweet, simple things of life which are
the real ones after all."
Laura Ingalls Wilder
1867-1957, Author of "Little House on the Prairie

SUSAN...that is so true!

JANE...I have to say that the only one I have trouble with is freeing my mind of worries. Wish there was a button to turn off the worrying. But can honestly say I don't hate, I try to live simply (think I do anyway) I always give and I never expect much from anyone!

These are all good one ladies! Thanks for sharing! :thanks:

Half Pint was one wise chick! lol here is another good one.

When you take charge of your life, there is no longer need to ask permission of other people or society at large. When you ask permission, you give someone veto power over your life.
Geoffrey F. Abert

Where do you find these Susan? All of them are great! And again, that is so true! I loved half pint, lol!

Mom2Gaby 05-31-2006 04:27 PM

At least we know Half Pint didn't have a weight problem. lol jk

I just find them at my parenting group.....like this one I thought was good.
Success is never final.
Failure is never fatal.
Courage is what counts.
-Sir Winston Churchill
