Good morning everyone! It's still a chilly, dreary day here in Indiana. The weather has been yucky here since Friday.

I had a good sized gain over the weekend, went to a mother-daughter church dinner with my mom, had dinner with my children yesterday. I made a delicious strawberry, cream cheese, angel food cake dessert, and even though I left most of it at my daugher's house, I did eat lots of it. It's gone now, so I'll be on my best food behavior until Thursday, so hopefully I won't have a gain at WW.

Hope everyone else had a lovely Mother's day. Glad you're out of your funk Cheryl. also glad you're finally having some sunny days up there Meowee. So sorry you couldn't be with your kids yesterday; that must be tough.
Good to hear from you Lily! And you too Donna and Hy and anyone else I might have missed.

Have a great week! I'm not stressing over my weight gain; mostly just water I'm sure; I don't make desserts often so I just enjoyed this one. But today I'm back on track. I'm in it for the LONG HAUL this time!

Hi everybody . . . hard to believe it's the middle of May already. We have more beautiful sunshine today in Atlantic Canada. However, the temperature is creeping up above 70, so don't bother sending me anymore heat, ladies. This will do just fine the way it is now. :D

Carla . . . how right you are. Together we can all do it. We just have to hang in and keep doing the good stuff as much as we can. ;)

Carla . . . I've only got two little Lilac trees but even they can send out a marvellous amount of perfume when they come into bloom. Right now I'm still admiring my Forsythia which have been exceptionally nice this spring. I've got two sons. . . eldest is 44 and lives in Alberta; the youngest is 35 and lives in Ontario. Thanks for asking.

Gail . . . It sounds like you had a really great Mother's Day. Wow, time spent with your Mother and your kids. Great. Hopefully that's only going to be a temporary gain. Everybody needs a little dessert once in a while. Glad you enjoyed it. It certainly sounded delicious. :)

Have a great day, everybody. Keep moving and shaking and heading in the downward direction. Here's a little :dust: to help us along the way. See you soon. :carrot:

Hi Ladies,

Sounds like we all enjoyed our Mothers day, all those yummy desserts that we can't say NO to. I know that I have to be good for the rest of the week.
My lilacs are just starting to bloom and I love the smell of them. Not much going on today, had to go to SD with my hubby for a car part, so it was out to lunch at a Steak Buffet. I did good up until the strawberry pie:devil: Very, very yummy. Extra walking tomorrow for me:carrot: :carrot:
Have a great night girls and I'll chat with you tomorrow.

Hello!

Just stopping by before I go and listen to a book on CD tonight.

It's been one of those days where I feel "Off" - not sick or anything, just "ugh". NO energy, especially. Oh well, tomorrow's another day, right? ;)

I am going to purchase the WATP DVD I also borrowed from the library - probably just order from amazon or online - I don't feel like driving around hunting for it retail.

My weight loss this week (since last Monday) was 1/2 pound. My followup tests with the Endo are in June and then I hope I can get on track, back on my meds and get things going AGAIN.

Someone asked awhile back if I could do yogurt, but no, I can't with this Atkins Induction. Plus I have to be REALLY careful about the splenda sweetened things - they tend to trigger cravings for me - eek!! (And I can't even tolerate the taste of yogurt w/o sweetening of some sort). If I get a hankering for something sweet, I usually mix some cream cheese, a bit of lemon juice and some splenda together - it's something like a little cheescakey-thingie. The Atkins program I'm following is pretty restricitve.

(The same goes for SF jello - it triggers MORE sweet cravings so I'm better off just not having)

Hope everyone is doing well. Night!

Hi eveyrone,

It's been raining here so long I'm thinking about building a ark! And it's so cold! I've had to turn the heat back on. I think the house is just so damp. And I haven't been able to walk outside at all. I am starting to walk a little bit again. I think I'm afraid to do too much, due to the shin splints. I talked to a Dr. at work and he gave me some stretching exercises and they helped. Now, I stretch after every walk! Lesson learned! The lilac's sound glorious! I love the smell. They were blooming here a couple weeks ago, almost gone now. I only have one bush left and the workmen took the center out of that when they trimmed a tree in the backyard! I had a huge one with the old fashioned lilacs in the back yard that was removed when they worked on the sewer lines 2 years ago! But the entire neighborhood was filled with the scent when they were in full bloom!

I had a great mothers day. I had asked for a family picture and we went and had one made! Lots of pictures! We got carried away. I didn't do too bad with the eating. I did have one small slice of chocolate cake, no icing. I don't like the icing so it's not a big sacrafice. I'm not losing, but i'm pretty confortable where I am. I need (want) to lose the 1 more pound, but if I don't it's actually ok. I am wearing all my clothes now and the extra pound is just to say I DID IT! I am counting on my wonderful support system to help me keep it off!

Have a wonderful day, Freda

Take

Good Morning . . . it's sunny again this morning but it is supposed to rain this afternoon . . . actually we could use the rain . . . some parts of the province are having a bit of a forest-fire problem.

Cheryl . . . I have a weakness for desserts, too. Actually I guess most of us do. Most heavy people didn't get that way from eating nothing but salads. I mean, I really like vegetables but not as much as I like cheesecake and brownies. :o

Hy . . . oh wow, now I have even more respect for you for being able to stick to Atkins. I'd really be a goner without my FF yogurt and SF jello. ;)

Freda . . . Very impressive. I'm not sure I'd want cake without the icing. I remember my Father commenting that cake was just put there to act as a display stand for the icing. Guess it's an inherited trait. :D

Have a great day, gang . . . See you soon. :carrot:

Afternoon Ladies...Finally, the sun decided to peak out and looks like we will reach the 70's. Going out for a walk later on this afternoon. So far I have had a very good day and I'm making wise choices in the food department.:D

Freda...Glad to hear that your shins are feeling better. Don't blame you for being scared about going out and walking again. Shin splints are very painfull!

Hy...You are doing so well with sticking to Akins. I couldn't do it, like Linda I couldn't live with out my SF jello, pudding and yogurt.

Linda...Hope you don't get too much rain, just a nice spring shower to freshen up the air a bit.

I'll try to check in later, hugs to you all.

Yep, I know I've heard there are some who can do OK with the SF products on Atkins Induction and I probably can too once I'm on maintenance but that's 30 pounds away yet. ;) I have read about others on Induction that experience "stalls" also when they add SF jello to their food list. Like everything, it just seems to depend on the individual. I WISH I could be one of the lucky ones, but... :p

The good news about the no-sugar/limited sweeteners is that my skin looks very nice! I have roseaca and get monthly glycolic peels at a doc's office to control - the woman that does my skin said she can see a HUGE difference and I guess I haven't noticed that many breakouts since I started Atkins. So that's at least something .

Yea to all the committed chickies heres!!! You all are an inspiration to me  Love reading your posts!

Looking at a busy day ahead of me today but thought I'd do a quick little pop-in to say good morning. It's my official wwi morning and my body seems to be practicing maintenance although my mind is trying for weight-loss. :( Hopefully this coming week will be better. I am having difficulty keeping it in perspective, but this tortoise will just keep plodding along in the believe that things will improve shortly. :^:

Have a good one, gang. I'll try to get back again later on. In the meantime keep on moving and shaking in the downward direction.

Busy morning getting my shopping done before I went to WW. Weighed myself this morning and I was 337.6 (no clothes), with colthes I was 340.6. Went to WW and their scales said I was 343.2 with a +.9 gain!!! It really puts me in a depressing mood to see that much of a difference between scales. It just made my decission to quit WW that much easier. I'm going with the scales that says I'm loosing and pocket the $11.00 bucks I pay to be weighed.

Linda...Great job on maintaining, but give that scale a swift kick in the rear. LOL

Be back later on in the evening and is how everyone is doing.

Cheryl

hyacinth merry 05-17-2006 11:39 PM

Cheryl, really something is not right with that situation!!! I have to agree with you on questioning what is up with WW. We all know how much it means to see the scale move down after all our work and committment to our programs - it's a VERY important incentive to continue on!

You all are probably going to laugh, but the following actually IS good news from me :carrot:

I decided to be brave and ordered a pair of white slacks (actually light-weight jeans)...I recieved today, just "did it" and put them on....and they not only fit, but they look REALLY nice!!! Wow, that too is a little incentive now to keep up with my restrictive Atkins diet. I just felt good all day after I tried on those suckers :D

Another quick HELLO kind of day for me. I finally bought my first digital camera and managed to load the on-line instruction booklet (all 130 pages). So far I understand nothing. Hopefully, I'll figure it out before it becomes obsolete. :^:

Got to run again . . . promised a friend I'd take her shopping. See you later, gang. In the meantime keep doing the good stuff. :carrot:

Hy...Congrats on getting into white slacks. It always make us feel good when we can get into a smaller size, and even better when it's WHITE! I totally agree with you about WW. I'm only going to attend WW though the summer and then do the program on my own and put the 11 bucks a week in the kitty.

Linda...Hope you figure out your new camera. I have one digital camera that uses a floppy disk that I use since I kind of have it figured out. My hubby bought a new Sony digital camera on ebay last year. I'm lucky if I can turn it on. LOL

Here's a picture of the wallhanging that I'm going to make in Feb, if not sooner.
Have a good day, and I'll check in later.

meowee you didn't ask for advice, but that's my specialty: butting in where I'm not asked - lol!! :D

I say, great you've got the War and Peace length instructions all tucked away now, so now just start taking pictures and don't worry about directions! That's the great thing about a digital camera - right away you can see what the images look like and DELETE them if they stink. I still don't know how to "officially" use my digital camera and I get compliments all the time on my photographs - lol!!!

That said, if you LIKE reading tech manuals, then go for it ;)

BtW, congrats on your new camera!
