Evening everyone! Life was so busy yesterday (the teacher's returned to work and I had to teach 3 inservices yesterday and today). Then DH had the night off so I never got to 3FC.
Nixxie, welcome. I'm guessing you're overseas from your 1st post, but where??? Do tell more. Inquiring minds and all. The goal of being healthy is the only one that I think will keep the weight off once it's gone. Nikki, I'm am so sorry that the evil scale bit you. I admit, if mine said I gained 4 pounds and I was an angel, I'd have picked it up and then smashed it back on the floor. I do have a temper when it comes to the evil white square. They are so fickle. But you know you didn't gain 4 pounds of fat and that's all that counts. BTW, are you taking any meds for your medical disorder? I know that when I was on my bipolar meds, I gained without overeating. It was very irritating. just a thought to ponder. Carol, the chickens sound delightful. I'm glad you had a good time at the fair. I'm looking forward to doing stuff like that with my grandson someday. today, he and I did go swimming. He likes me best in the pool, probably because I'm not nervous with him like everyone else is. Judy, I just couldn't do what you do. All that travel. I'd weigh 500 pounds. When DH and I drive across the country, I say I eat my way across the country. On an airplane, what else is there to do but eat. Yeah, I think you're doing awesome! Penny, please have your DS practice on Nikki's scale first. It needs to be taught a good lesson. BTW, good luck with the early day changes and I know what you mean of keeping stuff in their right portions. I keep my food scale on my microwave and randomly check what I'm taking. Sort of helps keep me honest. :) Well oday was a mile post - I officially walked 100 miles (or jogged part) for the month of August. I figure I'll be at about 106-108 by Thursday. I've never gotten into the 3 digits before. My bank book is looking good. For those not knowing - I pay myself $1 for every mile and I'm saving up for a new projector for my home theater. I think I'm over $700 since I started in January. Ok Nikki, my scale wasn't a cruel as yours, but I do think they're in cahoots. I gained a pound today. Since I log everything I eat as well as exercise, I know I didn't gain fat. But no matter what, I was bummed. So Nikki, we're compadres in this. :) Marie |
Girls the scales can be evil or nice just like that fairy tale reads. So becareful not to let them upset you too much. Hang in there your both doing great. I over ate a bit yesterday. Too much bread and now regret it I will avoid my scale and use it on thurs. morning before we go camping. Today will be a tempted day again as the company is buying lunch for us pizza and wings. I will limit myself and for dinner will have a salad with protein in it. Oh its never easy now is it. Marie your grandson is lucky to have a good gram. He will continue to learn more about you over the years and have great respect. We give them special values grams do play a special role in their lifes. Today I have a lot of paperwork to get done end of the month stuff. Then when I get home I need to pack for camp and prepare food to go. I was going to make chili before I go but then decided to do it there instead. Its not hard and I will precut the veggies ahead and add the spices so it can just be thrown together. I think smelling it cooking near a fire will be nice on a damp weekend trip. We are to get rain yuck. We are driving ourselves so if too much rain pack it up and call it a day. Time will tell! Have a great one and I will catch you all on tues. Have a lovely long weekend.

Hi everyone-
Marie- Sorry about your gain. You are doing awesome so don't let it get you down! Carol - have fun on your trip. I actually just started taking a pill at night. I wonder if that has anything to do with the gain. Since I dont have my scale with me I am hoping it will be good to me Monday. Maybe it needed a break LOL. Today is 1 week of me really watching what I eat again. |
It is weigh in day for me and I've lost another measly 1 lb.:( - it is going sooooo slowly. :snail: I really need to see better results to keep me motivated. Oh well, better than gaining so I'll take it.
I guess I need to evaluate my menu, make some adjustments and see if I can speed up the weight loss just a little. Carol~ have a great time, and I hope the weather will be nice for camping. Judy~ may I ask what the travelling is all about- is it job related? Marie, Penny, Nikki~ I'm sure the scale will soon move in the right direction. |
NMarie~~I am in Sweden. Moved here from the great state of Indiana :p to live with my pun'kin affectionately known as TBS(The Big Swede) or The Hoofy Poofy Man:dizzy:
Been eating okay. No sweets except for my cereal in the mornings and my one cup of coffee a day. I am eating 6 small "meals" a day. Although the walking thing that I have been trying to do everyday has slacked off because all it has been doing is raining. Pouring. With a lot of wind. So I take the stairs at school...5 flights instead of the elevator. Only ate 3 pieces of bread this week(normally I eat a cheese sandwhich that is on a cheese baked roll everymorning). I stayed under 2000 cals monday and tuesday I was at 2010. Not sure about today. I was a little busy at school to remember to write down what I ate. Hope everyone is well. *back to the books* |
Elyn- Way to go on your loss.
Nixxie- What are you going to school for? Nikki |
Help, I've fallen (off the wagon) and I can't get up!!! Well, yes I can. I've been so good for long, three weeks hardly a bit of refined flour or sugar. A couple of nights ago I had a big helping of whole wheat spaghetti, and I've been struggling ever since. Busy, busy at work. Grumpy about planning meals, whiny about figuring out nutritional values for Fitday....Today I had cookies (note the plural) left over from two days of meetings, and I've been craving sugar all afternoon. Even though I now have a slight headache, and my stomach is a little annoyed...I'm on my way to the baseball game (Nationals vs. Phillies) so I'm taking leftover wrap (lettuce and lox) with me, which is big and filling enough to keep me from indulging more....I hope. Well, I can't be perfect every day, but it's almost shocking to see how it feels to let the monster out of its cage!
It's good to hear from everyone. Elyn, most of the travel is for work. I'm with a national environmental nonprofit, plus I'm on a few boards of directors, so I'm usually at meetings or conferences somewhere at least once a month. I'm gong back to New Orleans in a few weeks, which is a bad place (or the perfect place) for a woman with a serious carb craving! Gotta run off to RFK. Back tomorrow! Everyone is doing so well, keep it up! judy |
Judy - Hope you managed to give those sugar cravings the heave-ho! I get cravings after a carb binge too - even though I know over indulging in those foods makes me feel yukky. Wishing you a successful trip without too many temptations!
Nixxie - It sounds like you're on a good plan. Also, taking all those stairs is good exercise. Nikki - Mean old scale!! No way have you gained fat. I hope the water weight comes off quickly for you. I recently read another post about someone who gains water weight when they eat a higher proportion of carbs (still within their daily calorie allowance). I'm going to watch my carb intake and see if it makes a difference. Girlie - One pound loss is great! I'd be sooo happy to lose a pound this week. Best not to reduce your calories too much or your body make go on strike and not want to give up the weight. Carol - Your trip to the fair with your grandson sounds like fun - I'd love to see some of those funky colored chickens! You're right - there's always so many temptations out there! I hope you have a nice time camping this weekend. Marie - Congratulations on the 100 miles walked/jogged in August :cheer: I'm sure the pound you gained will come off soon - you are doing everything right. Try shaking the scale a bit - it sometimes works for me! I went to an Indian (Asian) buffet today for lunch with a girlfriend as a belated birthday celebration. I'm still feeling soooo stuffed. I think my tummy is rebelling against all that spicy stuff. I hope it gets better by tomorrow as I'm going on an all-day river cruise with some friends. More eating temptations involved there too - breakfast, lunch and a dessert in the p.m.! I think I'll need some willpower dust :dust: Here's some for you guys too in case you need it with the long weekend coming up :dust: |
Hi Everyone, just a quick note to check and say things are going okay. I will be so happy when it's a week from Friday. The start of the school is physically hard. I'm beat tired.
Judy, you can do it - reign in those munchies. I know you can do it. Penpal, good luck on the river cruise. Those types of hings alway over-feed people. Carol, it's projected rain and you're still going. I know you were nuts. I'd either book myself a hotel or stay in my dry house. Yep, you're nuts. Nixxie, you must stand out in Sweden with your dark hair. I grew up in Minnesota and there's a large Swedish population so my blonde hair and blue eyes were the norm. Nikki, google the med you started taking and gets some real people's experiences with it. I'd google the name and weight gain and see what you get. I'm beat, so that's it. I'll chat more later. Marie |
Nikki
I am studying Swedish. lol. It is a free program for all hmm..(I hate it when I can't think of the english word---invandrare is the swedish word) people who move here. You learn at your own pace. You must pass the Nationell test in order to get a good job(or so they say). Penpal Thanks. Although I was lazy today. I guess you gotta have one or two of those off days. NMarie Actually, not as much as you would think. I live in Malmö which is very heavily populated with different cultures. My boyfriend is swedish and he doesn't look "typical". Most of the people here are from other countries. The further north you get the more "typical" people look but that is slowly fading away as Sweden becomes more international. |
Thank you for the will power dust I WILL need it for sure. I gained 1lb. according to my scale. Not surprised just kind of glad it wasn't more I have slipped in quite a few not so good choices lately. So this will give me a reality ck before I leave for camping this morning. I am packing fruit , alternative snacks and chicken breast, chili, hamburgers to be grilled, pita pockets ww, and baked crackers as I know I will have some cheese. I am going to try to count out my crackers etc. to ensure I don't over do. I also am going to get my plate and remove myself from sitting around the snacks etc. I am packing up some veggies and dip as well oh yes monitor the amt. of dip taken. I think that if I keep my recent loss in mind things will be okay. All food will be grilled, breakfast I will be careful with my friends bringing homefries. One scoop and thats it poo! Gotta keep a sense of humor with it all. Who knows maybe I will show a loss on monday. Hopefully that would be something a challenge for sure. I am packing just a few diet soda's and lots of water. Will have a few wines but not go crazy that goes with the cheese yah know gotta have a little. Everything in moderation!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks everyone for your support Marie and Nikki we can beat this little scale lets go!!!!!!!!!! Marie I am a bit nuts your right but have decided if it rains saturday and continues for sunday that little blk. malibu is coming home! More the reason for the hubby and I to drive our own car. We are going with some friends and using their camper this weekend. So leaving will be easy no real packing up. Hopefully it won't come to that though. We are off this a.m..
Penny I will match you with 5lbs. for turkey day and add one more cause I gained back one. Man! Judy pasta does that to me too. That and white bread causes me to crave up a storm. I also made brownies and that got me too tues. dum mistake. So I am really lucky it was only a lb. just playing with fire I guess. Girlie congrats keep it up. Nixxie look forward to getting to know you more. Sounds like the plan will work well just don't let the square thing discourage you. I need it to keep myself with a reality ck. and nice to see when the numbers go down for sure. Off to go camping almost all packed few last min. things like making some tuna salad to stick in the pita pocket for lunches. Chat with yah all soon and I did pack my warm snuggle clothes along with my bathing suit. Be good! |
Carol and Penny, I hope you have a lot of fun on your outings, and that you make good choices among the temptations.
I am working to get firmly back on program. Now that I've slipped, I'm "hungry" all the time. Because there's lots going on at work, I've been wakeful at night, and sleeping later, cutting into my workout time. I'm working from home tomorrow, while I wait for my new computer to arrive  , so I'll have the better part of four days to clean up my act. I won't meet this month's goal, but it's possible that I'm still losing inches. I can look at my thighs and upper arms and see a little difference, and my 'short' walks to work are now 20-30 minutes long, so all in all I'm better off than a month ago. Nikki, Elyn, Nixxi, Marie--I hope that the sun shines on you this weekend! judy |
Nixxie- that sounds like fun and a wise idea.
Judy- What kind of computer did you get? I just finished eating a piece of chocolate.:nono: I'm trying not feel to bad. I have vicious pms and only ate half the bar. I still can't exercise but I may try doing the fitness ball after my TOM passes. I can manipulate that to be non weight bearing. Nikki |
Hi everyone, well the August numbers are in. I walked 84 miles, jogged 19 miles and swam 12 miles. And I took today off. Completely off. I dozed in for about a half hour (the alarm went off and I just laid there and enjoyed a quiet morning. Tomorrow I will workout again. But I was getting sore from too much activity and too much of my job. My calories averaged about 1460 and I lost 6 pounds. Not too shabby.
Nikki, good luck getting some exercise. Physical pain is not conducive to exercise. And don't worry about the chocolate. The moment's over so you must move on. BTW, I just looked at your ticker and you've lost 38 pounds. That is so AWESOME!!! Carol, enjoy your trip. Sorry about the pound gain. I'm hoping my pound will disappear again since there was no reason for it to show up. Judy, enjoy your new computer. I hope you like it and it gets rid of any posting problems here. Nixxie, it's cool to learn another language. I bet it's easier while submerged in the culture. I learned French, german, and Spanish in college, but never really was immersed into any of them, hence I'm not fluent anymore. Well, that's it. A new month tomorrow. But more importantly, weekend at 4:00. YEAH!!! Marie |
Just a quick check in for me as I'm up to my a** in alligators since I took the day off yesterday and need to catch up with work. Can't believe it's time to close out another month already!
I'm the same as last week 188.5 - I'm lucky I didn't gain with all the extra food temptations in the last several days. Keep up the good work everyone and I hope you have a great weekend! :) |
